Well said lol should be fun. I was hoping for a collection with all the ogre battle games and gba tactics ogre but at least they didn't half-ass things here compared to some of the ff pixel remasters and trials/secret of mana. Should be fun though I dunno how good abilities will be (fft was overcosted with either broken or useless with ffta2 forcing RNG for learning by weapons you crafted and then had to buy in bazaar) or chasing cards. Alignment bit may be too much info but one can play gba for a simpler game (and both snes ogre battle and gba have rebalancing hacks). I do wish people would remember fire emblem and super robot wars exist for strategy rpgs as they have both had 30 year anniversaries.
I am excited to try this for the first time. I don't like Fire Emblem for random stat progression and forced permadeath without even a rescue timer. SRW is a genre I don't care for with insane price tags, so TO:R looks like it will be hitting a sweet spot for me.
@@jasondolph2785 your comments are inaccurate: 1) fire emblem has optional permadeath for the past couple of generations. You even have turn rewind and save states in the NES digital version (if you're able to get a code). 2) SRW does not have insane price tags; last (PS4/Switch) gen games including SRW 30 are $60, only $10 more than this, and some cost the same as this game (SRW 30 PS4 is $48 on sale). 3) Random Stat progression isn't a big deal in fire emblem unless you mess up and use a prepromoted unit who is prone to get luck plus 1 (who the others are supposed to outgrow while they decoy enemy attacks like Jagen/Marcus in old games).
Cannot wait for this game! I played it on the PS1 back in the day, but that was so long ago, and with all the changes it will feel like a whole new experience!
You people who haven't played this game before are in for a real treat, this is the pinnacle of the SRPG genre. The new voice acting addition doesn't sound great though based on this preview, I think I will be going with Japanese voice acting like I did for Triangle strategy, which is a choice I certainly do not regret.
Some characters seem.... oddly voiced. But some are very good later on. This is in English. YMMV. It's leagues above Triangle Strategy. TS sounded like a bunch of amateur theatre hacks.
Yes the people who always say FFT is the greatest will now finally say Tactics Ogre. I never liked FFT because you could only bring 4 units into battle which makes you feel extremely limited about class combos to bring, and prevented you from leveling a bunch of characters
You are spot on, Triangle Strategy's Japanese voice acting was unbelievablely good. It compelled me to do two full playthroughs and go through all 4 endings! Absolutely loved the game. The English I had to turn off after like 2 chapters it was so uninspired and flat Will be sure to take your recommendation here, thank you!
I've watched about 20 of these previews (TO:LUCT is an all time banger and I'm excited to play the new version!) and this may be the best one, quick, informative, and fun. Thanks!
I just hope this means we will FINALLY have access to the OST. The PSP one is just impossible to find, even on youtube there's next to nothing, it's insane
OMG I remember the Train function from when the game first came out! OH please let the Petrify one guy and have everyone beat on him for super reduced damage but still the same amount of xp trick still work! Just heal the enemy on "Accident" and keep the fun goin!

The only thing I wish they could have done was give us a choice between the pixel or smoothed art style. Similar to what MegaMan BattleNetwork is doing.
HAH, over 100 hours and I didn't even pick up on the icon change for effective attacks. Neato! It's been an incredible remake from top to bottom, and it's great to see the series getting more love.
Already sunk 150+ hours in Tactics Ogre LUCT, ready to sink another 150 in Reborn. The new changes are so beautiful. Hopefully a future update brings back multiplayer mode (and maybe rogues)
@Plip Plop Story is very good. Medieval clash of clans and people vying for power, with a dash of fantasy creatures. There are different routes based on decisions and characters would act different on each route, giving replayability
I put 100+ hours into the PSP version, but I don’t remember the story, nor most of what my characters classes were. It’ll be nice to return to this classic.
This is a really great synopsis of the changes. I've been playing Reborn about a month and it's so well made and clearly they cared a lot about what they were doing. If they do this level of upgrades to Final Fantasy Tactics I'll be in heaven.
I do think taking away the job point or skill point system in this game was the biggest mistake....it just makes the game so much easier.....it's kinda disheartening
It's like an upgraded "demake" of the PSP version. I mean, the PSP remake changed a lot of things over the original and this version reverted some of these things to the likes of the original version, like the equipment system, the spell system, the unit level system and the protection goddess system, all these are much alike to how they work in the original game from SNES/PS1.
I'm very excited to get this, though there are a few things I'm confused or uncertain about, for instance since they removed the Rogue as an available class for players, will we still have access to the Steal ability? And are there no longer Tarot cards to gather from the battlefield? I really enjoyed them as a resource to slowly accumulate attribute points and with the option to go backwards in time to replay moves to amplify this bonus it was an excellent feature. And how about the mechanics left under the hood until the very late game, like Chaos Frame? I hope this at least wasn't altered. Quality of life changes are sometimes welcome and I get why for most people such things are ideal, but one of the things about Tactics Ogre that I adored was that it offered profound extremes of grinding and secrets for the kind of people who enjoy it. Death Marching in order to recruit Cressida, rerolling the encounters for each floor of the Palace of the Dead and repeatedly felling the same foe in a million different ways until the .01% chance for their unique drop finally hits, gathering all of the grimoires, etc. They went all out with adding this stuff which the overwhelming majority of players certainly will never see; I can remember printing out spreadsheets at work that the community collectively pieced together for every known secret and playing the game all night long for months checking them off until I managed to achieve and collect all of them, and this is the only game I've ever loved enough to engage with at such a level of insanity, lol. The original Super Nintendo game is ultimately my favorite version but the stuff they added for PSP was a rare instance of genuine passion.
WOW. This looks like an amazing rebuild of an already great game for modern audiences. All changes make sense and, most importantly, supporting the original idea of the game. I am very positivley surprised to be honest.
Hello, How do you get to the AI Mode? I don't have that in my version from Steam or is there a certain path to take to open it? It should be open by default.
No more "Fight it out" random encounters? Could you not train in the original PSP version? I don't really remember, I know you could in the PSX version. Was a great way to recruit characters and get kills necessary to become a Terror Knight. Not a fan of removal the random encounters, but maybe it will grow on me as running back and forth over a node to get an encounter could be tedious.
I really like the remastered sprites. The first time I saw them, I thought they were upscaled and smoothed out, but now I see that they're just drawn at a higher resolution and the outlines are smooth. It's a cool style!
I think it looks nice but would still really like the option for the lower resolution sprites with a light dot-matrix filter and an even lighter blur. That's usually how I set up my SNES-PSX emulators. Though the blur may be toggled, dot-matrix is my go-to filter for older systems on modern displays).
The only thing I find kind of annoying is how many buff cards show up on the battlefield. It looks super cluttered. Other than that, I think most of these changes are excellent.
Every improvement in this game is great but the best out of all of them I would say is definitely the added voice acting for the cutscenes. English is not my native language but I would say I am fairly versed at the language but "old english" or whatever was used in the original Tactics Ogre was not the most enjoyable read personally and reading through it more often than not bores me to the point that I never actually finished the game because of it. But the voice acting is a game changer even if they use the same exact dialogue and/or narative, it would at least be entertaining to watch rather than feeling like reading a boring book.
I have a question. In the original version enemies could drop tarots that improved your stats (permanently i think?), and i used them to create a magic MC. Is it still the case?
After watching this video I just hope this same team makes a remaster of Final fantasy tactics. It's this level of care we want to see. Thanks for this video I'm super hype to play this
I think I like most of the changes except the limitation of 4 spells like the og version. It kinda strips away the point of bringing mages into battle, as they can be very versatile due to their arsenal of spells. The limitation of consumable item each character can use in battle really favors healers, making their usefullness not overshadowed by item usages. However, that levels become an individual thing again is the most exciting here. I like how dynamic the characters depending on each of their upbringing and how someone who is not train as something will not be on par to someone who specialize in that thing, creating 2 different options, jack of all trades but master of none or a specialist.
Yeah, the spells are the only real downside I'm seeing to this version. Hopefully there'll be a way to expand it in game, cause 4 spells slots when there's like over 60+ spells to choose from and only a couple classes are even magic capable is too limiting imo
I still find the PSP version being called the old version odd. Edit: Which is funny when a lot of the changes being made (or at least some) are reverting things back to how they were in the original.

Is Arcylle and Ravness still suicidal when you try to save them?
is it hard as a tactic's game beginner? I wanna try it because it looks so cute and polished and deep mechanics wise, but im scare I suck and lose interest
i finished the game back in psp days, should i replay it
excited for this one, but on the other hand, still patiently waiting for a remaster for FF Tactics
Is this the same game on the psp? (Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together)
Yes, but with updated interface and strategy mechanics. Like some others have suggested would be be cool if they throw in a hidden chapter. Square did announce some character addition(s), I’m worried I haven’t seen anything on Ravness :: 150+50hrs and couldn’t get that wench. This time! 🐧🐉
I somehow didn’t know about this until yesterday! Now I’ve never played tactics ogre, but I did play ff tactics and it was my first tactical rpg experience and I loved it. I’m going to buy this game and hopefully enjoy it as well.
Damn, there's so many updates. This is a proper remaster.
a well made video, I loved
