    Thats my dream aquarium, but instead of shrimps, i wanted to put nano fish. That driftwood and stone is so beautiful. Loved it.

    At least you see them occasionally. I only see my chameleon when it's time to feed him twice a week lol. Cute little purple guys you got:)

      Thanks :) That piece of stone just happened to go well with those branches. Even the tiny branch that got placed into small stone on the side. I love it when things fall into place.

    it is fine to use fertilzer after setting up the tank? won't it make it easier for algae to grow?

      I usually do it initially on a new tank setup because sometimes the plants come from other tanks that may not have had enough nutrients or it's brand new and I have no idea how much they received before purchasing them. I also only used it twice I believe in the 1 month that I left it for and as you can see from the video, there's no algae. The main thing is to watch how much lighting there is as that is one of the leading causes. Check this video out that I created on algae: th-cam.com/video/pTJaFgOEAgs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=3F00d88L59t3vv4C

    That’s what I use black foam board from dollarama lol it works great and can be changed very easily or removed

      Yup, that's exactly what I use and from Dollarama as well. I was recently at Michael's and noticed their foam board is a lot more darker so I may try that down the line.

    How do you ensure survival of your shrimps while you are on holidays for more than 2 weeks assuming that you don't have anyone to take care of them while you are away?

    • @shrimplycanadian
      @shrimplycanadian  18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Shrimp can easily survive in a tank without you putting any food into it for over a week as long as the tank is established. They should be able to find natural foods like algae, biofilm and detritus to feed on. What you can do also is, the day you are leaving or even the day before, sprinkle in some powdered foods (eg: ground up fish flakes, Bacter AE or Shrimp Baby by GlasGarten). You can also add one or two Catapa Leaves as those last a long time and they will feed off it. There's also Snowflake food for shrimp which is basically the shells of soybeans. You can add a few pellets to your tank and the good thing about it is, it will not pollute the water. I recently did this for my shrimp as I went away for a few days.

    It's incredible how many species of shrimp are out there that have yet to become popular in this incredible hobby.

      Could you do a video going over the more unknown species of freshwater shrimp? I've been trying to see what new species have been added to the hobby over the years but majority of videos on them usually just cover the popular ones.

      Indeed, hoping you get Vampire shrimp. We need more people trying to breed them.

      @@BANANA42kif you want a lesser known gem, look into malawa shrimp. They're a caridina species that's supposedly as good an algae eater as amanos, as hardy as neocaridinas, and can breed (*easily*) in 100% fresh water.
