      Except the nagabatu is in its own family while the komodo dragon is a true monitor lizard.

    • @dragonz_eye
      @dragonz_eye 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @indyreno2933 except naga batu..(two words) meaning "stone dragon," literally a non-living object. It does not have a classification in herpetology.
      I said, "It looks like."
      I didn't say it was a branch of varanus komodoensis.
      The earless monitor lizard (Lanthanotus borneensis) is a semiaquatic, brown lizard native to the Southeast Asian island of Borneo. It is the only living species in the family Lanthanotidae, and it is related to the true monitor lizards.
      Also belongs to the superfamily of VARANOIDIA. It sounds a lot like varanus, don't you think?

    • @indyreno2933
      @indyreno2933 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @dragonz_eye, "nagabatu" is the correct name for Lathanotus borneensis since it is not a monitor lizard at all, the two individual words have been combined into one word to make one new english name for this animal as a derivation, "nagabatu" seems perfect enough for Lathanotus borneensis due to its appearance resembling a living dragon made of stone, especially because its bumpy skin looks like it is made of stone, thus describing it as a living gargoyle, "monitor lizard" refers exclusively to the family Varanidae, while the nagabatu (Lathanotus borneensis) is the sole extant species in the family Lathanotidae, both families belong to the superfamily Varanoidea, but they are not closely related, the Lathanotidae family is the most basal extant family of the Varanoidea superfamily while the true monitor lizards are more closely related to the beaded lizards (family Helodermatidae), thus making lathanotids basal to both beaded lizards and monitor lizards.

    • @bradsbioactivebuilds
      @bradsbioactivebuilds  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Great question. The filter pushes water around, and I can adjust the flow rate. Also, the waterfall pump moves it around pretty well. Some of the people o have talked with that have been keeping this species have said they like the water a little dirtier. But I did have the concern of the front left corner. If it becomes an issue I'll attach a hose the the right side "T" fitting from the waterfall, covering the hose in silicone and coco fiber and to make it look like a vine that will export water to the front right side water section to gain more water flow circulation.
      Thanx for watching!

    Love it, I have wanted a paludarium for a while. Long ago we made a wall by cutting Plexiglas and covering it with rocks. We used it in an aquarium to make the exit for an underground filter. The wall was probably 6 inches tall and about halfway up we cut a hole and attached the power head, put a lid on and covered the top with gravel. The bottom of the tank was sand. The power head caused a nice current, and what was really funny is the fish liked to take rides in it. Especially the kuhli loaches. Thank you for the good info on this video!!

      "Nagabatu" is the correct name for Lathanotus borneensis as it is not a monitor lizard at all, "monitor lizard" refers exclusively to the family Varanidae, the nagabatu is the only extant species of the family Lathanotidae, both families are in the superfamily Varanoidea along with the beaded lizards (family Helodermatidae), but the true monitor lizards are more closely related to the beaded lizards while the nagabatu of the monotypic family Lathanotidae is basal to both.

      Although, for most small animals, this grout step is likely unnecessarily since they would not be capable of destroying a background made with foam and dry lock. But it might help add stability to ledges!
