Yes I know about that news. The opportunity to sell the rights of a franchise could still be an option. Just look at what happened to Acclaim and the Turok franchise. Heck, even Killer Instinct came back after almost 20 years when a new developer bought the rights to it. It's a long shot from it happening.
The necromorphs are an interesting twist on the idea of the undead, definitely terrifying visually and difficult to contend with. I've always sensed a strong Lovecraftian vibe in the higher level enemies encountered in Dead Space such as the Hive Mind, Nexus, and particularly the Brethren Moons. The original Resident Evil trilogy and a few spin-offs like Code Veronica, Survivor and Resident Evil Zero are my absolute favorites, but the Dead Space trilogy is a pretty close second, and the latter definitely had an edge in visual effects even compared to the later Resident Evil games.
It's an extremely fascinating creature. I fell in love with it the first time I started playing Dead Space. The Cliffhanger on the newest Dead Space really left me on the edge of my seat so hopefully they come out with another one.
I really like the concept of the necromorphs and the expanded lore about them in 3 about convergence creating a necromorph sentiant moon. This also reveals why humans never found any other alien life across space. They all fell victims to the markers and became necromoons just like the aquatic race on that ice planet almost did.
About the bretheren moon, which I personally call the NecroLuna, I think it is an interesting idea of Convergence, and Dead Space 2 actaully hinted at it when one of the rooms had statues seemingly holding up/worshipping an enourmous sphere.
My brother likes to say the locust from Gears of War would mop the floor with the necromorphs. I said the horde don't have a planet sized locust versus a necromorph last I checked.
I just can't imagine the sanity of the art crew who are tasked to make these creatures, plus the rumors the the devs takes their references by looking at car crash victims
I have a question. If the marker signal reanimates dead cells what is the purpose of the swarm or infectors? If they are needed to spread it where does the first one show up during an infection? I’ve never understood that.
I think the are interesting and also wonder why the are killing for no reason at all and then I also want to know who builded this monument so much unanswered questions .....

When i was mastering Dead Space, i really wanted to kill dr. Challus Mercer....but years later, i started to understand him. Must be there is a marker nearby... :-) P.S. the fights against the Dark Necromorphs in the original Dead Space were really exciting, too bad the thrill was gone as they moved up the series.

Flood would win. One small little Flood spore can wipe out an entire species. Flood have killed off ancient advanced species. Hence why they want to use the Halo rings to destroy everything so the Flood doesn't spread.
