    this is SUCH a convenient video for me because I have a new Alfa Romeo Stelvio myself and wanted to try and wrap them with a single piece of vinyl (instead of two because I’m no professional). I think with this tool, using the same pulling motion shown here but placing the tool slightly higher (i.e. the point on the mirror slightly lower) I could legit wrap the mirror caps with a single piece! thanks for this video

      None of the wrappers will incorporate the molecular structure of vinyl into their explanations of vinyl behavior under heat and stress. This is why all their explanations sound "sophisticated" and difficult to understand. It's like trying to teach physics without an understanding of physics. All you get is essentially a bunch of "intuitive" mumble jumble from "experience" with this "art".

    Like the video and the tool is awesome. Going to get me one. I don’t do wraps of whole cars. I’ll do a hood or a roof and mirrors sometimes. I just want to know from you what is the best gloss material for wrapping mirrors that gives a nice shine, doesn’t scratch easy and looks like paint. I’ve been using Avery supreme wrap, but it just looks like a bad paint job. I mean it leaves littl marks all over it. If you stretch it too much it doesn’t have a thick deep look to it like paint. Oracle used to like a lot because it seemed like it was thick and deep and a good gloss but I can’t get it very easily. Do you still use all Vivvid?

    What is your favorite vinyl brand where overall you dont get glue lines/ dots/ other blemishes and imperfections in the vinyl that bother you while installing?
    I remember when I started you had to really screws up to get all these issues. There was more of an adhesive separation issue back in the days, which I would prefer since I never experienced it. Now with 3M and to a much lesser extent Avery get these ridiculous marks left from what I assume is poor/thin adhesive/ plus thin vinyl.
    I remember several years ago when it was thicker and that never bothered me any. Just more heat and I got the job done. Now I find myself replacing panels so often until I find a method where the vinyl goes on in one smooth run with no lifting back up for corrections (as those leave marks). Its become quite a burden.
    So what is your favorite brand that installs with the least amount of blemishes?

  • @avry87
    @avry87 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hello CK, I've seen that the mirror was not finished and was left with some slack in the front. How did you finished the bottom side of the front corner on this side mirrors?
    I have a client that wanted 3M carbon fiber, and he will come back this week because it start to peel off at some edges he said. (I was expecting to run in some issues, as was a small piece of vinyl that I used).
    We first did it in one piece, but that didn't work as the carbon fiber didn't stretch back the way I wanted, then I had it done in 2 pieces.
    What do you suggest? I am thinking to take out the mirror caps.
    If I don't get them right this time, as I have ordered more material, then I will pay the vinyl from my pocket 🤦

    • @CKWraps
      @CKWraps  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This also happens more often when it's warm and still happens when simply sliding the film without stretching. It can also happen by simply picking up the film without tacking it down first.

      @@CKWraps It's frustrating.. Wrapped bmw rock grey it's almost impossible to avoid it on trunk, roof, hood.. I know it's not ideal, but tack reducer (diluted) helps a lot with this problem. It's mainly because of draging vinyl across surface. It's like glue rolling when u do it.. So pick high and hook quick down helps as well.
