This DISCONTINUED TOPWATER needs to make a comeback! (Cotton Cordell Near Nuthin' Collect & Catch)

  • The discontinued Near Nuthin' from Cotton Cordell has to be one of the coolest hybrid topwaters we have ever thrown for bass! This 1/4-ouncs chugger-style lure cast a country mile and it sinks on the pause, making it a killer for schooling fish. Though Cotton Cordell stopped production of this lure sometime in the 1980s, this is definitely a little (clear) piece of old school gold you need to get your hands on. Check out or day on Lake Travis chasing largemouth and white bass with the Cotton Cordell Near Nuthin'!

As a kid, my dad and I caught dozens of white bass limits on Near Nothins. When they went out of production my dad started habitually buying them. He has several hundred at least because that's my dad.

A retro bait I haven’t heard of…that I can remember, and Cordell to boot. It was discontinued when I was 9 years old so there’s that, LOL.

Fun video Retro. The Blue Striper is meant to be fished as a glide bait whether on top or under the water. It requires a split ring or large snap on the line tie to fish effectively. It is very good for striper and smallmouth bass. Some people like to weigh them to make them stay down better during the retrieve. Here in PA, the bait has reached legendary status on Lake Raystown.

Thanks for another great video. I hope you can point me in the right direction for information on a bait. I have unique Jitterbug. It does not have hanging hooks, but double fixed tail hooks, like soft-body frogs. A skirt fits over the hooks. I attempt to contact the Jitterbug collecter from your video on the collector convention to no avail. Thanks, Lou

Interesting. Growing up bass fishing in California during the 70s and 80s lures by Cotton Cordell were always the crappy stuff you found in the clearance bin. Their designs (mostly knock offs) and finish just didn't have a place in a tackle box full of Heddon, Arbogast, Bagley, Rapala, Storm, Bill Lewis, Mann's, Johnson's, or Rebel lures, to name a few. After half a century of bass fishing and tackle collecting, I can honestly say I have never purchased a Cotton Cordell lure off the shelf, and any I do have found their way into my junk lure bin by way of a tackle box I picked up at a yard sale or swap meet.
