I took this old school SWIMBAIT to California (Spotted Bay Bass)

This week we grabbed a handful of old school swimbaits (aka Sassy Shads) from Jenson Fishing Tackle in Austin, Texas, and headed west to San Diego, California, in search of the spotted bay bass (aka spotted sand bass). Since trying to catch a new species for fish in unfamiliar waters isn't challenging enough, we decided to do it with only vintage lures. Sure, we've caught largemouth on swimbaits and even jigged them for striped bass, but we had very little to go on in the way of targeting spotted bay bass effectively.
