Same guys that used to flip air cleaner lids because they liked the induction noise, but they missed the part about how the air cleaner lid also acts as a spark arrestor, so the carb would frontfire and set the engine compartment ablaze...

@sepg5084 with a good tune and proper supporting mods, itbs will make much a much more responsive throttle and faster revving. They're great for people who don't want more power but love response. That's kinda how miatas were made. That being said, I have a turbo 1.8 lol

Miatas (especially NAs) are the epitome of "more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow". They don't make a lot of power, but that doesn't mean they aren't fun.

i have a naturally aspirated '96 and man is it slow but goddamn it is the most fun i have while driving, even doing slow ass pulls it feels fast bc of how tiny it is 😂 especially if your whipping it around a nice turn

I have a 97 Kia Sephia, which came stock with the BP 1.8 liter DOHC engine. Still the original engine with about 500,000 miles (not kilometers) on it, but I never boosted it. Gotta say it's a pretty much bulletproof engine if you don't boost it too much. I still drive it till this day. I've seriously thought about putting the engine in a Miata where it belongs. I absolutely love my BP engine and haven't really had to do too much to it other than maintenance like changing the fluids and the timing belt.

The 323 GTX/GTR does in fact have much stronger rods and lower compression pistons. So it's better suited for boost than the B6 found in the 90-93 Miata

Best part is slapping a turbo on a 200k original motor works perfectly fine if the engine always had good oil changes on time lmao my first miata had 200k on the clock, i put a ebay turbo kit on it, did everything right except for retard the timing lol cuz the Chinese timing light i got didn't work and i was too disappointed to buy another so i just yollo'd it. Went for a "test drive" at 10psi which ultimately was so much fun it lasted 3 days upon which i noticed boatloads of smoke coming out the exhaust on the 3rd day so i knew i did a bad. Lol 🤣 i tore the engine apart and found 2 blown pistons. Cracked ringlands. But aside from those two cylinders, the other 2 still had factory cross hatches like a brand new engine. All the bearing clearences where right in spec. The engine looked brand new on the inside. Ultimately i put some new pistons in it, had it overbored for them, re honed and she made 285whp on e85 for another 30k miles. Shes been sitting in my parents yard now still perfect health cuz i baught a NC last year and plan on also boosting it but the nc has been my daily. Long story short there's nothing wrong with boosting a 200k original motor just as long as you RETARD the timing a limit the boost haha
Oh and it's worth noting that I re used all 4 original con rods from the original engine with the rebuild and yeah solid stuff!
