We don’t pinch in Ireland. It’s an American thing. Like saying “patty’s day”. Which to an Irish person is like hearing nails down a blackboard.

I'm sure most people are well aware. Just like every other American tradition, it's American!

@@shazba1020 there’s such a large Irish population in the US, it’s not that surprising that they develop their own traditions I guess! I only found out about pinching about 2 years ago😂
American is a strange case. We have immigrated in different waves. Those who've been here longer have ostracize "newcomers". During one period, what I call "Irish need not apply days" those being turned away decided enough was enough. They decided St. Patrick's day was going to be a day for them. A day to not shy away from racism but to be proud of who they are as Americans.
Needless to say it is an American holiday. One I'm very proud of. Frankly, it doesn't have much to do with Ireland but rather acceptance and fighting back again racism as an American.
How do you, as one person, make a funny 2 minute skit with like 3 different interconnected plot lines? That’s some talent and skill right there.
I don't even know which part was funniest! Started laughing at Austin's chip bag, still laughing after the last "that counts"!!!

Remembered that guacamole chips are good? They're probably the most interesting flavor in the vending machine and once Rich saw Austin with them he wanted to try them, and they're a good flavor

Honestly I didn’t even know about the pinching thing until a few years ago. Most ‘traditions’ during st Patrick’s day aren’t a thing in Ireland
I was born and raised in Georgia USA. Our kindergarten teacher warned us to be sure to wear green on St Patrick's Day. Folks got pinched a lot in grammar school. But not me. Momma made sure that my siblings and I had green clothes.
@@scottishhellcat most of my teachers in early elementary came prepared for it. Green stamps, green stickers, etc. One even went around with a green marker and drew on your hand if you didn’t have green on.
I forgot and put yellow on, so I told anyone who asked where my green was that I decided to be a pot of gold instead.

I’m American, but I’m of Irish descent and have an Irish last name. I’ve never really taken the pinching thing that seriously, but I did get a bunch of crap today because my camo sweater was apparently grey instead of green. I see green when I look at it, but maybe I’m just blind 🤷🏼♀️

@@Jazzy31 doesn't colourblindness cause people to see greyish, brownish, and yellowish in place of brighter colours such as blue, red and green? I don't really know a type that makes grey into green. Tho who knows, I'm not exactly a specialist.

Best St. Patrick’s Day I’ve had; lived in SF. Late 80’s. We both dyed all our clothes green. I already had green hair. Got a bottle of Jameson’s whiskey, went down to the base of the TransAmerica building downtown. Watched the Bedlam Rovers play. It sprinkled, we were all afraid of being electrocuted, but sat on the edge of a construction dumpster, had another pull on the bottle, and stayed. Had to put the bottle in her boot due to police presence. She wore one boot most of the afternoon.
On the way home, we went up Powell St and ran up to people coming out of places like the Westin St. Francis, asked to see their green, then pinched them regardless, and ran.
I’m part Irish. I had potato duty. I did something disrespectful with a potato at the door of a Catholic Church.
We covered all the bases that day.

I remember one St. Patrick's Day Mom & I went out to eat. I asked for New England Clam Chowder & extra Oyster Crackers. When it was brought to me, [UGH!] , they had put green food coloring in it. I took a taste of it, and it was not bad, but I could not get past the green soup! I lost my appetite that night.
Never try Dutch pea soup!
Once my BIL made a key lime pie from scratch...but because it "wasn't green enough" he added food coloring. I couldn't get past that shocking green pie, so I definitely know where you're coming from! 😂
