There is so much about the Clan society and culture that has not been translated very well into the game space. These characters do appear to be a good step forward so far. It will be nice to see if they get that familial feel of how sibkin relate to one another like close brothers and sisters in the way they compete and support each other. I also would love to see a good representation of bidding. I know in this game it would be strictly a scripted story element, but to actually see it in action with well-acted characters would be awesome. Maybe, this game will give players a real demonstration of how Clan honor works. I find it so fascinating, but very, very rarely do I ever see it presented in the games, be it in video games or on the tabletop with other players.
I'm here early hoping that we get the main clan IIC battlemechs as well as some of the main front line clan omnimechs on release. Maybe the firemoth finally for MW:O when MW:5 Clans releases?
I can't really remember at this point, but weren't a lot of IICs captured mechs from the invasion sent back for refitting and use for garrison troops etc? Or were there IIC mechs that were leftovers from their SLDF days?
@@philtackett5149 Ok this is going to be long so bear with me here. IIC stands for Second Generation battlemech and were completely original redesigns by the clans. They were invented between 2800 to 2900 and are fielded before and after the clan invasion as new variants were introduced. They can be seen as upgrades over their IS counterparts to the point where they are distinguishable. The confusing part is sometimes the clans will call their IIC battlemechs a Rifleman, Warhammer, and Marauder when their classifications truly mean Rifleman IIC, Warhammer IIC, and Marauder IIC which can be pronounced as Rifleman 2C (two see), Warhammer 2C(two see), and Marauder 2C (two see). They are typically 5 to 10 tons heavier than their IS inspired designs, but there are extreme cases like the Phoenix Hawk IIC which takes a IS medium chassis (45 tons) and upgrades it to an assault (80 tons). Typically the clan IIC variations can be seen as incredibly strong and solves alot of the issues that their IS counterparts suffered from like IE the IS Rifleman suffering from heat and armor issues, while the Rifleman IIC adds much needed 19 cDHS and 11 tons of armor. However, most IIC battlemechs are frowned upon by trueborn front line mechwarriors, as they are typically piloted by sibko mechwarriors given a second chance, elderly/dying mechwarriors (solahma) who still want to serve their clan instead of perish in retirement or freebirths. The irony is that IIC battlemechs tend to perform better than their omnimech counterparts for drastically lower prices and lesser battle value. The disadvantages that clan battlemechs have over omnimechs is that they take longer to swap parts and will typically need refitting at mech bays, while omnimech parts can be quickly hot swappable and variations can be configured according to changing mission parameters on the fly. Think of omnimechs as swiss army knives of the battlefield, while the clan battlemechs are typically placed in specialized roles when they are in their stock configuration. There are exceptions to that last rule as per usual because mechs like the Rifleman IIC prime can make people pretty butt hurt on table top with how effective it is.
@@philtackett5149 The IIC mechs were first generation Clan mechs that were based closely off of SLDF designs. Evolutionary incremental improvements of the SLDF mechs, rather than the revolutionary clean sheet designs like the second generation Clan battlemechs and the Omnimechs. The captured mechs from the invasion refitted to Clan standards and used for garrison troops are C models (Shadowhawk C for example).

Huh, looked up Perez on the Bloodnames, and it is supposedly an Elemental exclusive Bloodname. Guess Cordera Perez is an exception to the rule as he doesn't look big enough to be an Elemental.
If you look at the Sarna article, it says that Perez name is known for producing great Elementals, but you also have Mechwarriors and even spacers there. I tried to post the link but youtube blocks the comment.
I hope we either get a skewed story where we're on the side of abominable acts but told as if they're heroic or it goes full shades of pretty dark grey and everyones just awful. Always found the championing of certain factions odd when they're literally the worst but familiar.
This game looking great, not just in story but also the fact that the faction you play are the villains when comes of the clans, don't see that much video games and it will be interesting in how the handle it, especially that your unit will be under the command of Infamous war criminal!
I'll definitely give you this, the VA from what we've seen more is one hell of a step up on the last game which was truly horrid. Actors who actually give a shit is always encouraging.
I was telling my friends when the trailer dropped I was pretty sure that it was Cordera Perez. That means that my second theory, that the player star is attached to Beta Galaxy, is also probably correct. I hope we get to see this guy punished for what he does to Edo.
only thing i hope for is when leo showers is giving his speech about invading the IS (if its in the game that is) is that Goliath Scorpion is mentioned at the very least, OR at the very most there IS a C.G.S. Character or two seen
Really shows off that clan leadership is young. Usually past 30, you're considered past your prime and unless you have a bloodname, you either hope you die in battle before you get tossed away to back line duty to basically rot. So not really pampered as much as they just straight up toss away their old soldiers unless you are the literal best of the best. Meanwhile IS is rolling with the age old "fear the old man in a profession where men die young"
I like how the uniforms seem crisp and professional. Almost real. The uniforms in the old Battletech illustrations had this 80s flair that looks dated now and the Clans would be too easy to make Mad Max-ish, especially after the Battletech cartoon.

@@quecksilber457 Sure although technically the ambient occlusion and screen space reflections settings are automatically turned off when RT Lighting and RT reflections are on.
@@changeagent228 RT ambient occlusion is ray traced. It works together with RT shadows (there is no RT lightning, ambient occlusion is kind of RT lightning) and RT reflections. RT ambient occlusion is the most impressive of all RT technologies. Of course there was SSAO. But that it did not mean.

I really hope for a Jade Falcon DLC. An Aidan Pryde story arc. From creche over sibko, next his fall to live as a freeborn. And later to his unit. With training and position test. The first part can be told in cinematics.
Ouch..
SEYLA!!!
I wonder who Elias Toufexis will voice in this game. Even if they don't hire him, he'll probably show up in a rubber mask or something.

Really looking forward to playing this, it has been too long since we had clans in any game.
I hope we either get a skewed story where we're on the side of abominable acts but told as if they're heroic or it goes full shades of pretty dark grey and everyones just awful. Always found the championing of certain factions odd when they're literally the worst but familiar.
You are in for a ride!
Don't touch your subordinates, Commander. You may end up missing the war while dealing with an EO complaint!
This looks amazing. Can't wait for the launch

like the approach - MORE
This game looking great, not just in story but also the fact that the faction you play are the villains when comes of the clans, don't see that much video games and it will be interesting in how the handle it, especially that your unit will be under the command of Infamous war criminal!
So this one will have a proper story? Nice.
Great video and work shown. Sounds very promising.

only thing i hope for is when leo showers is giving his speech about invading the IS (if its in the game that is) is that Goliath Scorpion is mentioned at the very least, OR at the very most there IS a C.G.S. Character or two seen

Fisk esq is a great choice. Kisses!
Mwah!
cordera still has his baby fat, clan guys are really pampered
