This was very helpful. I translated one of my songs from English to Spanish years ago. I mentioned this in a video today, and one of my fans asked me to do a Portuguese version of the song. Translating from English to Spanish was a two week process for me. From Spanish to Portuguese is much easier. It's the pronunciations I need to work on before I try to rap in Portuguese.

garrafa is similar to the Spanish word garrafa the meaning is only a little different I speak no portugués but because I do speak Spanish I feel I understand it better than any other language I don't speak. English also helps with some Portugués words.
Actually, in Spanish, the “v” is only pronounced as a “b” at the beginning of a word. Within a word, the “v” is pronounced as a “v” somewhat similarly to the “v” in English except by bringing on air through your mouth rather than labiodentally.

Há regiões do Brasil que usam "tu" em algumas até conjugam correctamente. "Você" em Portugal é formal e "tu" é informal, até o "vós" ainda é usado. Comentei lá e pode ler se quiser.

Couldn't you mention about how the sounds change in European Portuguese? Especially since you show the flag of Portugal. For example, in European Portuguese they swallow the final vowel sounds, so that "sociedade" sounds more like Spanish since they will swallow the last "e" sound, unlike in Brazilian. Also the "rr" can be more guttural in European Pt and I've even heard it being rolled by some speakers.

O som do -rr em português foi influenciado pela vinda da família real ao Brasil, em 1808. Naquele tempo a moda era ser francês, e a própria corte imitava o som o -r francês, que não existia no português falado na América portuguesa. Tanto que o português de Portugal de hoje não tem esse som, salvo engano. Parece que falam aRRoz mesmo.

não sei se em TODOS os paises se pronuncia assim mas falo um dialeto mexicano e o /v/ é bem parecido ao som do [b] (pronunciado mais com os labios juntos do que os labios nos dentes). pode existir uma influencia "labiodental" mas é muiiiito mais fraca do que a do portugues - (embora varias linguistas da lingua espanhola digam que não existe (e não existia) um som labiodental em espanhol). não sei se minha experiencia aplica a outros falantes de diferentes paises mais nunca notei uma diferença no espanhol dos paises que visitei (costa rica, uruguay, argentina, españa). outro falante de espanhol pode comentar? O duplo "rr" só tem som de "h" no Brasil mesmo, porque nos países africanos, em Portugal e no Rio grande do sul é pronunciado como em espanhol.

The pronunciation of the "v" depends where you are from. I have never pronounced it like "b" in English. In Mexico it makes the "v" sound.

About the "V" in some zones of north of Portugal people read the "V" like in Spanish. "Vaca" stay 'βakɐ.
The Portuguese have no problem learning Spanish, in fact a Portuguese needs half the time than a Spanish because of the sounds. In European Portuguese we have a strong "R" and we do not read it as "H". In fact the Spaniards have problems in reading our R.
You must change the flag once your comparisons and pronouncements are in Brazilian Portuguese and not European.
To be honest, it is harder for a student to learn Portuguese after learning Spanish than for learning Portuguese first.

I'm native and you don't know how much that it's offensive and also deceptive for foreigners. They think that it is the PT-PT when in fact it is the PT-BR, if Portugal were a reference symbol it would teach Pt-PT and not PT-Br. In European Portuguese the R isnt like H. Brazilians read like that because they didnt had some sounds in their languages. So it's hard to speak for almost of them with a strongest R. They pronounce some words different of us because they didnt had that sound in their languages.
Don't agree with the rrr in portuguese. It depends where you are from. In Portugal we do insist in the rrr

Thomas Dupre claro que falo pt-pt, apenas quando ensino estrangeiros português eles costumam pronunciar melhor as palavras explicando o duplo rr como se fosse um h forte. Obviamente que não é um h silencioso como em português, mas sim baseando-se na pronúncia inglesa.
Mas é evidente que a pronúncia não é igual por todo o país e existem exceções...

I'm from Rio de janeiro. Our Double R (rr) is very stronger as well. It's not like spanish tho, we proununce like french Double R
All she says is for a Brazilian Portuguese. European Portuguese sounds nothing like she's talking. It sounds more like a mix of French and Polish tbh

The funniest thing of this video is that i'm spanish native speaker and I can't pronounce the strong R (double r sound), so that's why i'm able to pronounce in Portuguese and English "R" sound without any problems ☝

O som do -rr em português foi influenciado pela vinda da família real ao Brasil, em 1808. Naquele tempo a moda era ser francês, e a própria corte imitava o som o -r francês, que não existia no português falado na América portuguesa.
Tanto que o português de Portugal de hoje não tem esse som, salvo engano. Parece que falam aRRoz mesmo.
Não têm nenhuma sustentabilidade histórica a não ser no Brasil essa questão de imitar o r francês na língua portuguesa!

Eu já tinha ouvido alguns lusofalantes falar a "rr" do mesmo jeito que as pessoas que falamos espanhol, eu acho que é uma questão regional.

Sobre a pronúncia do "v" em espanhol, alguém poderia me dizer se em todos os países de língua espanhola essa letra é pronunciada como "b"? Em algumas músicas (reggaeton) tenho percebido que, ainda que sutilmente, essas letras são pronunciadas de forma diferente. Se alguém puder me esclarecer isso, ficarei agradecido.
não sei se em TODOS os paises se pronuncia assim mas falo um dialeto mexicano e o /v/ é bem parecido ao som do [b] (pronunciado mais com os labios juntos do que os labios nos dentes). pode existir uma influencia "labiodental" mas é muiiiito mais fraca do que a do portugues - (embora varias linguistas da lingua espanhola digam que não existe (e não existia) um som labiodental em espanhol). não sei se minha experiencia aplica a outros falantes de diferentes paises mais nunca notei uma diferença no espanhol dos paises que visitei (costa rica, uruguay, argentina, españa). outro falante de espanhol pode comentar? (espero que vc possa entender tudo isso, não posso escrever super bom em portugues kkk)
acabei de ler abaixo que realmente o b e v (que representam o mesmo som em portugues) representam um som bilabial fricativo sonoro, ou seja, uma combinação do b e v do portugues/ingles
