Strang 1 Hi! So if someone was saying like their girlfriend just hit them, and somebody said “you got hit by a girl?!” Would somebody say well she should’ve known better than to hit! That is correct she should’ve known better, well the point of this comment is that it would be rude to a woman because it makes us feel weak and like we are not strong at all, and it makes the man feel weak( since they’re is some stereotype that women are just super weak) so he would feel weak for being hit by another person/or the other gender. What you said isn’t really the point of this comment, this comment is just addressing that you know it’d be rude to both genders. You know? Have a nice day!

It is all about protecting female perpetrators of domestic abuse and forcing male victims into submission. We live in a misandrist society where women are privileged. The society wants women to go unpunished for crimes against men and force men to accept abuse by women.

Once I was racing a boy, don't know why, we were just racing. He lost the race. All of a sudden, a boy came from literally out of nowhere and said to my friend "Hey, that's a girl you know. You should've won." Now you may think that this was only upsetting for my friend, but actually, it really upset me too. And yes, I understand it upset him as well, but it really hurt my feelings.

48 things men hear in a lifetime that women almost never do.
    1) "Well, sure, you're the only one covered in bruises, but if you don't leave the house willingly, we're going to have to arrest you."
    2) "Yes, we're aware there was no evidence of abuse that we could find, but if you want to see your kid you'll have to come up with the fee for the court-ordered supervision."

    5) "You're married? Oh, I'm sorry, but you can't undergo surgical sterilization without a signed release form from your spouse."
    6) "Well, yes, we understand the pregnancy was accidental, but we're going to force you to become a parent."

All you had to do was write the same words with men and women swapped,, but you couldn't even do that. Both of the videos used parentheses to bolt the same essential message onto the title, and it's a resounding "Men aren't hurt as much as women."

48 Things Men Hear In A Lifetime (That Are Bad For Everyone)
48 Things Women Hear In A Lifetime (That Men Just Don't)
Nice equality going on there with your titles. I suppose you framed it this way because you want "what women hear" to be considered special and "what men hear" to just be wrong. Had you posted them with the same title, this video would have undermined the other... which it still does. As a man these mean nothing to me, in fact things said to me growing up help me grow as a person and helped overcome REAL obstacles and problems. It makes you stronger! Seems like you think women are too fragile, should be sheltered and men should feel the same way.
Tell you what...here's an idea for a third video, splice them both together and call it "72 things PEOPLE hear in a lifetime" and realize how asinine the whole thing is.

Do better next time Huffington. You couldn't even make the titles equal. And the subject of the male video is way too tied to women and not nearly focused enough on male exclusive issues. I would of loved to see things like, "all men are rapists" "under no circumstances do you hit a woman" "a guy must ask the girl out" "a guy always pays" and many other damaging things we hear. But I have a feeling it wouldn't go with your agenda/narrative. Even though this video was supposed to be directed towards men, you found a way of directing it towards women.

Men need to be masculine and strong while women should be and pretty and gentle. What I'm trying to say is that It's a social construct that men should be masculine, it does not have to do with biology or genetics, you're taught from a young age that you should stick to what gender roles your sex has. It does not make a man any LESS of a man to out some makeup and a skirt on. It's to show that the bad things men hear are just as damaging to girls as they are to guys, whether you like it or not, you'll never be able to play the "both sides" card, because our society is very patriarchal and misogynistic, and women are oppressed more than men, and have been for centuries. Most things that men are told that hurt them aren't just bad for them, they're bad because they compare men to women or imply that men should be above/degrade women in some way. Because the worst thing this society thinks that you can be is a woman. Even though that's not true.

Thanks for this, guys. As a woman with a lovely little brother, I am so sick and fucking tired of hearing this shit said about my brother, and TO my brother. It's not fair that we label sexism as something ONLY women go through. It's not. Just because we report sexism towards women more, and just because we view it as more wrong, does not make sexism the other way alright. So-called "feminists" who believe you cannot be sexist towards a man are in and of themselves sexists, and are NOT feminists and should NEVER call themselves that. They don't stand for this woman, and they don't stand for the majority of people, either.
This is another reason why gender inequality harms everyone - by reinforcing those stereotypes, we reinforce that women are weak and men are strong. Or if you prefer, we see women as emotional and men as cold automatons. Men are expected to "tough it out", women are expected to share feelings. I will NEVER get the same amount of flack for wearing a suit that my little brother would get from wearing a dress, and I will NEVER be expected to cut my daughter's genitals the way I am expected to cut my son's. I will NEVER be told my daughter is "confused" for playing with boy's toys the way boys are told about playing with girl's toys. My daughter will be believed if she's raped or domestically abused by a man, but my son will not be believed if a woman rapes/abuses him. I don't have to worry that the court will give custody of my kids to my abusive husband the same way my brother would worry that the court would give his children to his abusive wife. I will never be considered a "deadbeat mom" the same way my little brother would be a "deadbeat dad" if we both divorced our respected SOs and ended up going our separate ways. It's just pervasive. It's pervasive and I hate it, and it seems almost WORSE than the sexism I face as a woman because it's not called attention to the same way sexism towards women is.

While I do appreciate that Huff-Po did end up making this video (hopefully in the interest of fairness/equality and not because the last one got disliked so much), I feel I must point out the following concerns.
The last video was 48 Things Women Hear (THAT MEN JUST DON'T) while this one is subtitled (THAT ARE BAD FOR EVERYONE). This is inherently (and probably deliberately) unequal, not to mention some of the things that men DO in fact hear some of the things on the women's list.
A lot of people complained that the women's video had a lot of "compliments." While I don't completely agree with this sentiment, very few of such analogs are present in this video. "Positive" statements CAN ALSO be psychologically distressing for men/boys if they they reaffirm lifestyle choices they're not interested in.
More importantly it's clear that this video ONLY touches on CERTAIN KINDS of bad things men hear, particularly regarding emasculation. While these statements are certainly something to be concerned over, including JUST them opens the door for "Well, when men are treated unfairly, it's because they're "acting like women. So really, this is just another form of Misogyny!" I feel this is an oversimplification, and am suspicious that Huff-Po INTENTIONALLY did this.
Accordingly, here are a few things that did NOT make their list (that perhaps should have):
    - Foreskins are gross
    - Women prefer a guy who's circumcised
    - Never hit a woman, even if she hits you first
    - You should make sure to get a Pre-nup.
    - You like kids? Are you some kind of pedo?
    - It's your duty to die for your country if it comes to that
    - It might be your baby but it's HER body
    - You want to be an (artist/schoolteacher/etc.)? How will you provide for your family?
    - Men can't be raped
    - Only men can rape

It's a biological fact that men are innately stronger than women, so to be weaker than a woman would make you feel like you're less of a man as that is what society teaches us. We're taught to be a man, while women are taught to do whatever they want.
Also, HuffPost purposefully painted this to try and make it seem like the only things that men suffer from are related to emasculation so that it looks like any discrimination towards men is actually misogyny. • @parmenionmacedon9740
      @parmenionmacedon9740 9 ปีที่แล้ว

+Seybertooth Actually in older generation both men and women didn't used to cry all that much. It wasn't a productive use of time and as such both sexes were much much more stoic. Most men these days are quicker to cry that women of 100 years ago. The fact is that the image of women being fainting violets is a very modern thing and even today is still not really true.
For males it has always been important to be able to control your emotions, to keep your family your children safe. I was always taught that It was ok to cry in a safe place but never to loose control of my emotions in public, that to do so would be selfish. Because allowing myself to loose control would put the lives of those I care about in danger. After enough time it just becomes habit and you just don't cry anymore.
So it's not that "boys don't cry" it's that boys or girls shouldn't have such a lack of control of their emotions as to be unable to control them. Also I should note that being able to control your emotions is a crisis is something that you don't just learn on the spot it takes years of practice.

I am a feminist and I will never not be a feminist. Feminism is about equality for the sexes, no matter what anyone tries to say. However, I agree with you that the video about women should have had the same parenthetical as the men’s video-“that are bad for everyone.” Because men treating women like crap makes women afraid of men and vice versa. The human psyche trains us to see patterns and unfortunately if a woman is targeted by enough men, she will start to be afraid of all men in order to protect herself. It doesn’t mean all men are bad or that she hates all men; she is just using her life experiences so keep herself safe.
Anyway, I went on a bit of a tangent here, but yeah. Men and women will never have true social equality until basic gender roles and expectations are eradicated.

I see that lots of people don't quite understand the meaning of this video. It is about gender stereotypes being harmful. Men in our world are meant to be "strong, not emotional, confident, etc" and if one doesn't satisfy these requirements, he is mocked. But the truth is that it is ok to cry if you're a man, it is ok to be gentle, it is ok for boys to play with dolls etc. The fact that some people have a penis should never define their emotional life (or any other its area). E.g. keeping in feelings and emotions can cause a depression that will lead to a suicide. Gender roles and stereotypes are very harmful things, whether you are a man or a woman.
This is such a good video, seeing all these hateful comments makes me sad.

Personally I think that these videos are true to their titles. Things that were being said in the video about women aren't commonly said to men. Like when was the last time a person was surprised when they found out a guy was into video games? When was the last time men were reminded of a body clock? Or questioned if they were going to work after the baby was born or judged for leaving the baby for someone else to look after? Men just won't hear that and that was the point. And is there a male equivalent term for cougar cause I don't think so apart from Sugar Daddy and that's actually a business. You can't deny that older men- younger woman couples are more common and accepted than vice versa- men dump older wives for younger women because of their beauty all the time. That beauty for profit exchange is alive and well which goes into the point of physical appearance being a lot more emphasised for women than it is for men. I think there were some stupid ones that I doubt anyone says, probably just one person in that woman's life, like the thing about the eyebrows and the eat, pray love thing- like how are they important really? or sexist? And this one chose to look at harmful insults made by other men to men that hurt women too by putting down feminine qualities. It's not representative of all men, I do admitt. This is only one fraction of what men hear and the issues they face I do admitt. It's obviously more about harmful things said to more effeminate men to shame them and be homophobic which is a serious issue in my opinion but this doesn't target all men and I think another video should be made about more varied experiences and issues that impact men specifically.

I hate that I even heard so many of these myself. "You got beaten by a girl?" and "You're going to accept her doing that?" It so wrong for boys to hear this things. The problem is why they say these things are because in their world the woman are below man. (May not be the exakt way you are thinking in that moment. But that is where the expressions come from.)
So if you get beaten by a girl or let a girl boss you around you aren't a man anymore? Because suddenly you are on the same level as the woman and therefor you will be bullied.
So please people saying that feminism isn't needed, both men and women are being affected be the patriarchy. Men and women should have the right to be whoever they wanna be, without someone talking bad about them - seeing them less as fulfilled human.
I know there is many people who hates the word feminism and the whole message in my comment. I will not reply. Just wanted to rant about all our right to be ourselves. Thanks!

Naturally, the comments section is rife with misogyny, misandry, and people going at each other's throats instead of realizing that the point of this video is basically saying that men, like women, are restricted based on toxic gender roles and expectations. A lot of the gender roles and limitations placed on men are based on the notion that masculinity is better than femininity, hence why feminine traits have long been used as insults against men who do not fit the hypermasculine profile of what a man should be. For those of you who are bitching that this video derailed from men's issues and instead focused on how these affect women: do you not realize that it affects BOTH men and women?? Men who do not fit society's overly manly image are ridiculed and ostracized. This is the same reason that male domestic violence victims and sexual assault victims have struggled with reporting and discussing their experiences.
I don't think the feminist movement is blameless. I consider myself a feminist, but I think that a lot of people, not just men, have been excluded from the discussion (read: White Feminism). The issues that hurt men do need to be addressed. Many of them have their roots in patriarchal values (read: custody laws). At the same time, people try hard to deny the realities of sexism that hurt men and women alike. "MRAs" on here (read: misogynists, not actual people who advocate for men's issues) like to blame women for all societal ills, as evident by some of the overtly hateful comments directed at women on here. These same people like to claim that sexism towards women doesn't exist, despite their open display for it or their reverence for time periods where women were indeed socially restricted. Likewise, there are feminists who have actively excluded men from the discussion of gender injustice, which is not right. Feminism and the MRA are both just movements with several adherents and political positions. Unfortunately, many have used these movements and ideals to promote hatred instead of realizing that they can fight the same fight, which gives justice to both men and women. This certainly does not need to be a men vs. women battle, but rather, a men and women work together to end restrictive and oppressive gender roles that hurt them equally. It doesn't need to be a fight to make either gender superior or in charge. If you advocate for patriarchy or matriarchy, then you don't belong in the equality discussion either way.

    • @OdaSwifteye
      @OdaSwifteye 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

+NanuBaby90 Really? The comment section has mostly people who feel outright insulted by the fact that it's petty examples that aren't actual problems men have but even if they were they are posted as problems shared by everyone even though it's supposed to be around men.
It's good that you took something nice from this but you are a feminist. You have been taught to agree with these concepts but quite a lot of people think that feminist who speak of these things and enforce these stereotypes and demonize genders for their faults *is the main reason why the genders have negative stereotypes that actually hurt them.*
I hope I can nail this in less words than it took for you to make your post because full detail would actually be twice as many lines and words and that includes spaces (which you should try to put in your text after 3 sentences FYI or at the end of every complete thought).
Ultimately this video is counter intuitive because IT IS the thing that holds both genders back.
If you want an example of actual problems that men face and hear you should see Karen Straughen's comment or I dunno. NOT listen to a video made by an feminist run agenda company and say go to source of Men's issues.

One of the main reasons why so many comments on the 48 Things Woman Hear were about guys asking why there wasn't a list for them was because a lot of things said were mostly just petty insults/compliments from other woman, obviously a man would not hear or say a lot of those things so the point was to bring these issues up to....men only?????
So now that you've made a video pointing out things that are said to men in a lifetime they are...bad for everyone and not JUST men because we are going to bring up expected stereotypes that were spouted about...5-10 years ago? Really?
The main reason why there were so many complaints is because no major news outlet or what have you is actually willing to talk about real issues that men face such as MGM, male rape, domestic abuse against men, losing child custody cases even when the mother may have been documented as a child abuser, all men are potential rapists, male schoolteachers are 95% thought of as paedophiles (even though woman rape more students than men do) watching ANYTHING not live action makes you an automatic creep/paedo in training etc. and when they finally do: it's either followed by a sarcastic comment or something to the effect of "Yeah, this is something that needs to be fixed; but lemme tell you why this affects woman as well" and if anything else, no one is willing to talk about these issues unless they preface it with heavy, HEAVY "Are they really..." or "Maybe they are..." like preambles; as if even thinking of discussing such things is so horrible when woman are almost on an hourly basis talked about like they are being beaten and spat on for how they are born or constantly chastised for a hobby when all of that shit actually happens to guys only.
Of course you can just brush off what I said by claiming "To be really fair: a lot of the things said in the other video were more emotional based than physical" so it's okay to acknowledge an issue as long as it doesn't actually cause real, visible harm to a man as a woman? The fact that the other video listed nothing but things SAID not ACTED on them shows just how comfy they really have things, so it's fine to make it look like men have it the same way, but in order to do that it has to affect everyone, not just the singular gender.
I give this video a 8/1000 I give the few digits for at least trying, but if you break the narrative you lose your audience, I understand.

+HatedAlways Well, the kid 16 seconds in says "Wow, your so strong".
Seriously, the child is supposed to see a compliment as some kind of attack?, how terrible for men to have to deal with compliments...
The guy at 1:06 says. "have you ever done a real day of work in your life", I mean, if you assume the person who said this to him didn't know him, they're judging his weight. This is a separate issue (I'm not of the mind that encouraging people to be fat is okay, it's not).
How is this comment a thing that MEN have to deal with?, this is someone calling him out because he's fat not because of his genitals.
On the other hand if this guy is a complete free loader, are we supposed to encourage him to be a fat mess sitting at home not contributing to society? Where's the problem in calling a lazy prick out whether they are woman or man?
The point is all of these 'insults' are completely vapid, why teach men women or children to be victims all the time? How is teaching people to be hurt by completely empty insults making our society better.
This is why the video is complete garbage.

It might be a difference between the U.S (I'm presuming your from the U.S) and Where I'm from (Ireland) but it's very clear here that in high school if someone insults you and they can see it effects you, they're going to run with it and do as much damage as possible (kids are ass-holes) and it's terrible, but at the end of the day I see it as a positive because someone can say whatever they want to me now and I honestly don't care, dealing with crap like that as a kid is just part of growing up.
I just see these guys as never having gotten over basic insults that mean nothing, and it annoys me that anyone would waste their time dwelling on something like being called a pussy, when the real world is always going to be full of assholes and always will be.
Don't try and live by other people's standards and you'll be fine.
I'm sorry if all that was all a bit preachy and if I'm droning on but I'm just speaking my mind now.
P.s: I'm not a macho guy myself, I have severe haemophilia (look it up if you want), which basically means that being macho is pretty much off limits. lol
