- This is the result of the combination of audio and video from someone's copy of the DV8 copy. If that person would come forward I could restore the entire show... Spread the word!--

After everything I’ve lived through in my short 26 years of life I can say this is the best song I’ve ever heard.
Please listen to the whole album I promise it’ll change your life!!!
It fucking did 😭😭😭 and this is still my favorite song
Mine too! And I bought the CD (yes, CD) from Tower Records on Mercer in Seattle back in 1990. Yeah, I’m old ;-)
I'm 37 now, and I got to know cocteau since I was 14. Never met a more special band in my life (and probably never will)
My favorite song as well
Heaven or Las Vegas is one of the best albums ive ever heard in my life. ill never change my opinion
*We had potatoes back then to capture the sheer genius that is Elizabeth ... and today we have Ultra HD 4K to capture the likings of the Kardashians.. why you cruel technology?*
I think the original comment went in over your head
Don't you think that adds to the mystique.... The fact that seeing live stuff was super rare and filled you with a sense of achievement for tracking it down
@@canalenterparasair okay, you have anger issues. It must be terrible to walk around with such contempt in your heart.
LOL. So well put.
At least we have good live recs of Beach House and Twin Sister
The most beautiful voice ever captured
I'll give away my soul just to see them reunited for one last gig
agree
I was at this show! It was amazing, like stumbling into an alternative-universe roadhouse where Cocteau Twins were the house band.
Me too! I must have been right behind whoever was holding the camera. I remember that perspective exactly.
I envy you people
Heavenly!
My favorite song of theirs. Captures the vibe perfectly.
Mine too. Can’t explain it but this one runs through my head.
Robin’s guitar sounds phenomenal here, gad dayuuum
Pretty sure there were 3 guitar players on stage for that tour. Elizabeth, however, was on her own with the vocals.
You, Elizabeth Fraser, are one of the most beautiful people in the world today.
Never tire of her songs . If I had to choose one record for a desert island it would be Heaven or Las Vegas .
*Their songs
2:27 Nailed the best part of the song.
just goosebumps
They are the perfect soundtrack for photoshoots; a photographer friend and I did a few low tech, low budget sessions - back then analog- with amazing, surreal shots, each time, some infra red , some b/ w. This music transports to another realm.
I believe Elizabeth knew this was the end of the Cocteau Twins. The look in her eyes is astonishing. She is singing out to the world. This is me. This was me. 😢
this is absolutely one of the greatest songs ive ever heard in my life
I bow down to this alien magic!
I was so very fortunate to be at this show. To see the Angelical Liz! To have heard her Voice live. It would be the only time ever.
I love her. My favorite band. She's so cool, calm and collected. And she can't help but sing with emotion. This shows the band in top form.
The eloquence of the vocals...
this is great.. such rare footage..
She really has a sweet voice
Magical. Thanks so much for posting this. One of their most beautiful songs the even the sludgy mix can’t ruin.
When my son was newborn, teeny tiny and would just sleep and eat I’d play Cocteau twins for him as a lullaby.
This song I’ve the most fond memories of as I would sit in his room at the desk we have in there and read and play 50 50 clown. As he quietly slept.
I get a bit teary eyed thinking about those quiet solitary nights just him and I.
This is so beautiful. You exposed him to some music that goes far beyond the realm of this existence and for that I applaud you 👏🏻🗿
Just an amazing song period....way ahead of the curve they were
Just discovered this album, it's amazing.
Oh this would be soooo divine restored!!!
Unnecessary. It's perfect the way it is.
Thanks so much for uploading this 🙏🖤
I'm glad to hear Liz in control of her voice
Se me explota la cabeza con esa voz del otro mundo
Lyano Calabera yo tambien!
Her voices sounds better here than original recording IMO!
Straight up Goddess
Thank you Elizabeth
Beautiful
What a voice
Always loved
"Motions aren't in the shape that emotions are..."
Thankyou 🙂💖..
I'd honestly love to hear an audio matrix of this, a bit of the actual audio from the camera recording preserved just to give it a bit of that "in the room" feeling. like 10% or 15% of the mix, nothing too high.
Yeah, if I had access to a better source, this was from a vhs copy. Problem with all the audio from shows that tour were the overpowering snare drum, which I surmise was run through the sequencer for dynamics and was never corrected, it stayed at that same obnoxious volume all through the tour. It took me years to get an acceptable RAH mp3swept DAT recording, which is what I'm using here.
Super late reply, but that would likely not work. It would be a phase disaster (which isn't always just correctable), and there is no chance the camera audio quality is even comparable to this DAT recording. May as well just use a VST effect to artificially add an "in the room" sort of effect. No joke actually, that wouldn't sound bad.
@@JulianA-tr6pt People do this sort of thing with Grateful Dead shows all the time though, I'm not sure if maybe they do work with the phase correction by doing various tricks like limiting the bandwidth as well on the audience recording in addition to keeping it at a very low percentage. It of course takes tweaking and working with but we have the tools these days to do lots of different things to make it work. It doesn't even have to be comparable, we just want a tiny bit in there to get the audience in there. Does not require the full frequency response... bandpass filtering would be what I would try, and worse comes to worse, you just scrap it!
Her voice knocks spots off any anyone else. Totally otherworldly. Transcends everything else. 💖💖💖🙏
Such a great contribution.I overthank you!
This one is a beauty 🌠
so good
Yep, was at this show too!
This is next level. Who could possible take the torch since CT are no longer?
Beach House obviously
No one - a product of their time of which they were an anomaly even then.
Awesome
I love the Cocteau Twins.
i fucking love this
Amazing live record! Thanks for share
I was at this show right in front, it was awesome but the venue (DV8) was not worthy of The Twins......we were lucky to see them in such a small intimate setting though.
Liz encanta com sua voz e nem o microfone ruim tira a sua mágica! Fabulosa
great job bro! so amazing
That performance of Violaine is INSANELY good
born wayyyy too late to experience this..
Absolutely!!!
wooooow
in love
Still so far ahead of their time..💖🙏
Excelent
The original CD release, from 1:57 till the end of the song is an unmitigated religious experience.
51 from scotland .. scotland is a very spititual place full of complicated people, whom really dislike each other
For crying out loud. The sound engineer needs a kicking. The mix is bloody awful. Really unfair to Elizabeth. She's struggling to give everything she's got into a muted microphone.
the mix isn't that bad, it's just the vocals don't cut through the way they should
I believe that that is the way it comes through on this recording. There are points in the song where it's quite clear that her vox were at the right level that night and were coming across just fine. This is not an SBD; it's clearly AUD. You can hear the stupid snickering and yammering of some jackass at various points.
God damn
Genius....
However you cut it Liz has a voice from heaven
or las vegas
Inconfundível !!!!!!
This makes me cry
❤
the mic sound has always been shit at CT shows. They seemed to prefer the music over the voice.
This was the show where Elizabeth was sick with a fever and swooned, right? I only ever saw them once in Seattle at DB8 by the old KEXP studio. This is the same show, right?
Could have fooled me...
It sounded like Martika's Love thy will be done song.... Nice and creepy
Prince sampled 'Fifty-Fifty Clown' for 'Love ...thy will be done.' That will be why.
I don't know what scale that is, but it's unearthly.
Was this at club DV8?
What are the words? I can't make them out.
+MrsSmicks It's not about words with Cocteau Twins.
+MrsSmicks
I feel rewarded on being so ugly, eh
Oh, and you're a lone shadow
I feel rewarded on being so ugly, ehI feel rewarded on being so ugly, eh
Oh, and you're a lone shadow
I feel rewarded on being so ugly, ehSmile and face your wife angry
His life don't despise what's in eyes
He skips so as the seasons
To come as a breeze has
Again, aheadWe'll rust, our nose dust
A fine gard with pleased and, oh its true
Hill can't comfort the brain
He must come as he was
Again, ahead
John Murphy is right anyway, it's not about the lyrics!!!
still think they don't match
There are certainly lyrical differences between the studio and BBC versions. There's a lot in the above transcription that I doubt - as noted on one of the other Fifty Fifty Clown pages. Admittedly I can hardly make out any of the words, but, as usual, I know what I'm *not*hearing...
For me it's more about how the emotion comes through the tone and range than whatever the lyrics might be. I gave up trying to decipher the lyrics decades ago. :)

LIZ REMINDS ME OF ELLEN DEGENRES.
What an insult to poor Liz
