Absolutely one of my favorite Cocteau Twins song, when I listen to it, I feel as if I am not even listening to human music, it's like something dreamlike...almost out-of-this world! What a nice arrangement with the quite vocals! Excellent!
For sure. Until recently, I didn’t realise the significance of the contributors to Mezzanine. You see, I’d entirely missed the CTs. We weren’t radio listeners and our friends weren’t into bringing new music into our gatherings. Of several couples, I was the last holdout that was still listening to music a lot, but I tended to relisten to stuff I already knew I liked. Pretty tame really. Thirty years later, I’m into mbv, CTs, Slowdive and a dozen more that were rarely if ever on TV.
I am awestruck and speechless by this magic. Maybe the audience is too, and that would explain their lame-ass response to this amazing performance. -otherworldly- This is one of my favorite live performances of CT as of late..
Pure. Listening It Remember My "Childhood" (I'm 14 Actually) I Used To Call My Friends To Play N64 Games While We Listen To The Pink Opaque.. So Good Times! ♥
My beautiful liz i just love her smile. without doubt the best female vocalist i have ever heard. Been a fan since the eighties an, incredible performance!
Who gives a shit about journalists and their reviews! I certainly do not. Liz is amazing bottom line! I myself love her live performances. They may seem abstract or nervous to you,but it is her signature style to give abstract performances, often times twisting the lyrics around to make them her own and i love and respect her for having the guts to have her own way of singing. She is one of a kind and i love her for it! This website is not a journalist review site, its a fan site so get off!
been listening to them for years and i've never heard this one. Back in the dance clubs of Boston this would have turned me into liquid in motion on the floor, all by myself.
The sound quality is really good. Even with a different production, these guys still kill it! So impressed with this band; they sound fresh even 30+ years. Love CT forevs!
Wow, what a beautiful version... And I've never seen her smile like this, so relaxed. Must have been a great atmosphere in there! Thank you for posting this.
'respected music journalist'. yes, your views are so much more valid than that of us mere mortals. the number of sub-standard bands that 'respected music journalists' give the thumbs up to is amazing.
I always considered the Twins to be timeless myself, even though some of their work does sound a bit dated now. There was a bottomless well of Inspiration at a certain point of time and the Cocteau Twins, among others, are shining examples of our free minded past. I miss those beautiful days. ☮️
i am not talking about their albums or eps. they are meticulously produced and are flawless. my main gripe is about the inconsistency of their live performance of which liz is the main culprit.
i never expected an upbeat or energetic show when i came to watch their concerts...what i expected was to be emotionally moved and to be carried over some great heights of spiritual bliss. Unfortunately, that never came about, because of frequent problems with the backing tapes (they used backing tapes from 1982-1988)and liz' problem with her voice due to her nervousness.
Iam a huge fan of the cocteaus and i couldnt agree with you more. The first time i saw them i was actually embarrassed for poor liz. She sounded as if she was a strangled swan. But on the milk and kisses tour she was brilliant, due to the removal of her head set, which she used in prior tours. Once the head set was gone it made all the difference. I agree, they definatley are a studio band....
I love the fact that they made real drums superfluous. That being said, I often notice in their live mixes her voice is often at the mercy of the other elements being too loud and her voice not loud enough. In this case the drum mix could be brought down I wish by half.
According to Simon, this was the first song that he ever wrote/recorded with Robin before he even joined the band in 1984, meaning this was the first real Cocteau song if you're not including their Will Heggie days.
this is soooooooooo ahead of its time. The audience doesnt realize that they are hearing history in the making.
They do, they’re just mesmerised by their genius. What I’d have given to be there
As you didn’t realize your comment was history in the making
Yes it is
I wonder in what sort of musical context this music was understood when appreciative audiences heard it at the time.
@@timothyc8377 probably would be thought of as new wave back then
live version of this song is really special. and her smile at 2:00 is so darling.
Rare she was always nervous at this stage correct?
this song, this voice, this smile..... a peace of heaven on earth
The most sensual, romantic and dreaming sound in rock history! The soundtrack of heaven..
Actually, it’s hell that you can hear faintly.
Millimillenary has always been
one of my favorites--
and this version is gorgeous as well.
ME TOO!!
What a hidden gem. It's like looking at a bizarre manneristic painting whose allegory no one understands.
this track makes me feel pure and innocent.
Me too!
Two! 💎💙
Same🥺
An absolute angel!!! Love the album version but this is special….
She is so relaxed and gorgeous. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Perfect lullaby whilst staring at the night sky....

Excellent!
my favourite CT song of all time
Random observation: She and Tracy Thorn really lifted up Massive Attack.

Oh god, she was so gorgeous.

3:45 is what it's all about.. a couple of seconds of magic
Every time I think I love one of their songs the most, I find another one that is insane.
My beautiful liz i just love her smile. without doubt the best female vocalist i have ever heard. Been a fan since the eighties an, incredible performance!
I'm so glad I found this... It's like loving someone from another time and it hurts your heart knowing it can never be.
She is such a doll.
I love how every song/performance of there’s is a completely different vibe
Celestiale. Una voce angelica. Una canzone splendida e senza tempo. Parlare di capolavoro è sempre troppo poco.
Hai davvero dei bei gusti musicali. Saluti alla Toscana 😉

let it flow up and down your spine, recounting every good and bad thing running through your soul. noone tells it like ct...mourning ever so slightly
I sleep so many times with this track..
watched this so many times and her smile still sends shivers down my neck .The voice of an angel.
been listening to them for years and i've never heard this one. Back in the dance clubs of Boston this would have turned me into liquid in motion on the floor, all by myself.
Voice of an angel!
Thanks for the emotion.
Better than the album. Much quieter and delicate.
I prefer the album version - as much for the guitar parts (don't spare the e-bow and chorus pedal!) as for the more intense vocal
eu amo muito essa canção, sempre tenho boas vibrações ouvindo ela, e essa versão... maravilhosa, perfeita, magnífica.
No words. Completely floored.
Es increible 40 años de este temazo ,unica!

God, she's so radiant here, and serene, too! Wonderful performance!!!
Somehow I have gone this long without seeing this...
If I went to Elizabeth's concert that night, I would have been trascended.
I miss these times...

Oh Mon Dieu !!!!!!!! Amazing !!! Thanks 1000DRUMZ

Me quedé hipnotizado...
Lovely live version. Think I've always had a crush on Liz Fraser
