They are fantastic cars, we were pleasantly surprised. Glad you're enjoying the car, it's good to see they are a good car to own long term 👌 Thank you for watching! - Drew
The GTI is like a swiss army knife, it does a lot of jobs "pretty well". Practical, economical, sporty, reliable etc...I think its a better buy than a golf r and its also my number 1 choice if I ever decide to rob a bank 🤣🤷♂️
I have a '16 GTI manual, and absolutely love it. It's my affordable dream car. Insurance is about $540 per year, so definitely affordable. Love the video!
I bet the Clubsport is a fantastic car to drive! Wow, that is a big claim, but I imagine the Clubsport is very engaging! Thank you for watching! - Drew
Interesting. I have a MK7 GTI S 6spd and an E46 M3 coupe 6spd. I know the Clubsport is miles better than my S model GTI, but my GTI is modded. In its current form, it’s faster than a stock Clubsport and will handle just as great as it too. Even with my GTI being modded, I have much funner times in my E46 M3. It’s also modded too, but even in stock form, it has always been much more enjoyable to drive. Mostly this for me comes from it being RWD, and the GTI being FWD. FWD just sucks a lot of fun out of the car. 🤷♂️
Had my 7.5 Dsg for nearly 18 months, my only downside....I couldn't afford to buy one sooner! If I want to chill, no problem. If I want to use less fuel on a long journey, eco mode. If I want to drive like a lunatic, no problem. if I want a mix of both, ok then. I can drive it however I want and the car wraps you up in those seats and lets you do it. You get out when you have reached the end of the journey with a smile on your face. In fact I want to go on a drive now just for the hell of it!
I have a standard (non-PP) 3 door, manual 7.5 facelift, in white silver metallic, I've replaced the wheels with OEM dark graphite metallic 18" Pretorias, added an OEM TCR spoiler lip and an Alcantara ClubSport steering wheel and it really is the perfect daily driver. After 4 years, I still look over my shoulder in the supermarket car park to admire it's aesthetics
@@SilverShamrock71 very nice choices! I do love an alcantara steering wheel! That's when you know you've bought the right car 👌lol Thank you for watching! - Drew

I have a manual 2017 Mk7 GTI since new. No power mods, but the clutch has been upgraded with a Southbend Stage 1 and SMF and is perfect for daily driving. This is the 7th VAG product I've owned and is easily the best. This car does it all, from Costco runs, 38 mpg on the highway, daily commutes, and fun weekend canyon carver.
@@accelerateyoutube Hi Drew, I got a mk5 Golf R32 with some bits done to it , mk7 golf gtd with some mods mk2 golf gti, Lupo gti projects and up gti with some mods 👍🏻
This video has just made my mind on getting one of these, I am buzzing for it now. Going from a peugeot 208 Gti at 210bhp to a golf gti, even tho the golf comes in stock at 230bhp I will plan on mapping it like you guys said, 300bhp is so easily achievable in these where as if you “stage 1” tuned my Peugeot you would only gain 15-20hp, so excited now man.
@dec392 very good choice sir! As we said, we were not the biggest VAG fans but THIS was entertaining! What did you think of the 208 GTi? Don't seem to hear much about them. Thank you for watching & commenting! - Drew
@@accelerateyoutube Pick my mk7.5 gti performance pack up on Thursday! As for the 208 gti, I have had it for 3 years, never ever let me down, only the usual wear and tear that goes on every car, it’s quick enough, the only downside and the reason I am switching to a VAG is trying to get more power out them. The 208s don’t make much different when mapped only making 10-15hp but yes mate very good cars and I’d recommend anyone to get themselves one if they were thinking of them 👍🏻
I absolutely love them. Always out of my price range growing up . If I was staying in UK I defo get one. Love the dsg box . I must be getting old hate a manual these days lol
A stumble along your channel. Great video lads. I have a 2016 gti that has been tastefully upgraded and it’s a cracking piece of kit. I also own a mk 7.5 golf R 3 dr. Both superb cars.
I have a Mk7.5 (2019) Rabbit edition (has the OEM performance features of the PP, I believe) in a Manual (THE way to go), I’m the original owner and I absolutely love it! The fact that I went with Manual over the very very good DSG means every time I get behind the wheel it’s an engaging experience, and I’ve not gotten bored of driving it like I’ve heard some DSG owners say long term. I’ve added a turbo inlet pipe, intake tube, and modded the airbox, proper Michelin pilot sport 4s tires, and just did an EQT stage 1 93 octane tune about 2 weeks ago. It’s prob sitting at about 320 whp as well, and it’s a beast of a little hot hatch. 5+ years later, it still puts a massive smile on my face when I drive it around. I’ll be uploading a video about it soon! 🚙
@@ash_reviewsI’ll meet you halfway and say that I would consider the DSG, but in the R. I’m curious to know though, other than being slightly quicker (I recognize the DSG trans is fantastic btw), what specifically makes the DSG better than the manual in your opinion?

If you’ve not tried a Cupra 290 yet, definitely recommend a try! I settled for a 290 after looking for the ultimate hot hatch. Very biased opinion but any is38 mqb platform is pretty solid tbh

I had the mk2 16v and have a manual mk7 with it's original seats.Sure are best cars but Gti is a philosophy. Only understand that conexion who has one of these
I've got a Mk7.5 performance great car but it's not a true hot hatch, or at least what a hot hatch should be, it's not lively enough, not twitchy or kart like enough, it's more like a high speed train, luxurious, fast.
Not the original hothatch. I'd go for Leon Cupra over a Golf if you want a hot hatch from the VAG group, more fun at a better price. Golf's are popular for practicality, get a Type R instead, practical and more dynamic.
