  • Demonstration of how force feedback works with the MiniPin. The miniPin is the unique compact digital pinball machine that uses your iPad. Here I show the force feedback solution we developed. It works really nice and we are very satisfied. Makes the MiniPin even better.
    Not just vibrations when pushing buttons but also when pulling the plunger or using the 'autolaunch'.
    Let us know what you think!
    MiniPin is planned for a Kickstarter/Indiegogo croiwdfunding campaign later this year.

    Very cool! It might be nice to also have a more compact "controller only" version for PC games like Pinball FX, Pinball Arcade, Zaccaria etc. There are no commercial controllers for pinball at the moment and the new Pinball FX reached over 1 million users. I believe a lot of people would be interested in a good pinball controller.

      @@Matiasss1980 Hi Rock Guitar. Yes, all is well. I'll give an update to all probably early next week. Chip shortages and other economic factors are at the moment making it quite hard to do a firm production deal beforehand. I want to have several options just in case. And I really really need a firm pricing, especially nowadays. We are thinking about doing one standard MiniPin and one 'lite'. model with same gameplay but less features. If you just want to play

      @@Matiasss1980 Apart from the production side for preparing the Kickstarter, I will do more effort to get exposure beforehand and send pre production models to youtubers/reviewers. On friday I meet with a digital pinball specialist to get additional feedback on prototype gameplay and I am thinking about a small stand at the Dutch pinball Open exposition in November with prototypes.

    This looks cool, but the force feedback, plunger, and back glass make me assume it will be fairly expensive, more then current mini pinball options.

    Hi, I am following your project a while now. Great to see that the project is still alive. I am playing virtual pinball for a long time and I have a vpin wip to play mainly vpx. This is so much fun. I also enjoy playing pinball on the iPad a lot, but controlling the flippers is a hassle. I am really curious about your product. Nice to see such an awesome project from a Dutch guy. I also live in the Netherlands and virtual pinball is popular here.
    Can you already share a bit of the price or is this not yet possible?

    • @gibsonpinball
      @gibsonpinball  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Arno, great to hear from someone from The Netherlands. Well, if you are a virtual pinball fan perhaps you can try the MiniPin to give some feedback. We also play VPX with a minpin like controller, not a full size cabinet. So curious about your WIP cabinet. Price-wise I hope we can soon give more specifics. With shortages and problems in the far east we are very careful to say anything before we have solid agreements. Contact us through subscribe@gibsonpinball.com.

    looks great, will you have a back glass with DMD? does it play FP and VPX?

    • @gibsonpinball
      @gibsonpinball  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Check out the other video's. No DMD. We are using your existing iPad. External dmd on the backglass is almost impossible this way. At least, an affordable solution. We do have illuminated backglass animation that in reality looks quite nice. FP and VPX do not run on iPad. But it is possible to stream from PC and use the plunger, nudging, force feedback etc. i have made a vid playing VPX. Also, in a different setting you can use the MiniPin as a dedicated wireless controller for playing pinball on your PC should you want.

    Intel NUC or similar with DOFLinx for force feedback from Pinball FX3 is what this appears to be. KL52Z pinscape controller i'm guessing?

    • @gibsonpinball
      @gibsonpinball  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the guess and your remarks.. Alas, nice but no cigar. Nothing like that at all. Check out the other video's. We want a compact pinball machine that is really easy to use and everybody can afford. Plain and fun. Not more of the existing. What you are describing would cost a thousand dollars and is only for die hard pinball lovers. MiniPin uses your own iPad. Feels and plays great. And now has unique force feedback. How come nobody else has force feedback on nudge buttons, plunger etc? Guess they are mostly copying what already exists instead of trying to really think and develop something new. Something customers might actually like and can afford. At least, that is what we are aiming for :)

    • @gibsonpinball
      @gibsonpinball  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Alessandro, the project is fully alive. Apple is in the habit of making changes to IOS updates which affect small developers. We anticipated this and are getting used to it. We spent time updating the firmware and are happy to tell you the minipin is fully functional. But this is not the real reason for big delay. We originally wanted to do the Kickstater a year ago and it is quite frustrating. The main reason is simply the whole COVID and associated problems. In order to have a MiniPin at a competitive price point we had to look to the far east for possible production. And as everybody knows COVID has delayed everything over there. Very hard to get a timetable and production agreements. Hard to make sure electronic components are available in quantities (microprocessor etc). And now prices for everything are rising sharply. So in short, doing our very best to make sure the Minipin Kickstarter starts soon. Once the project gets a green light we stick to schedules and deliver as promised. So we really need to make sure beforehand that a) no unexpected technical problems. This we tackled by doing 95% of development beforehand. The MiniPin just works already more than a year! B) production agreements with possible manufacturers. c) all components are definitely available and can be sourced in expected quality D) transport is available and E) no unexpected price changes. Quite challenging. At the moment we are looking into possible production in Europe. So yes, one way or another, the project will definitely start.
      Regarding prototypes and testing. We get this question several times. Our time is limited. Other factor is the IP (patent) on a few aspects of the Minipin. We don't want to give away certain solutions beforehand, especially when doing a Kickstarter. But we realise the delay is frustrating for you as well. Also we could use feedback. And Germany is close to the Netherlands. No promised but just send us a mail at start@gibsonpinball.com. regards, Ben

      @gibsonpinball  ปีที่แล้ว

      Backbox heeft geen tweede scherm maar een afbeelding met verlichting er achter, net als vroegere flipperkasten. De verlichting kan verschillende patronen maken maar hier zie je eenvoudig knipperen. Een tweede scherm op de iPad is een bijna onmogelijk verhaal qua gaming. Dit is een heel mooie oplossing

      Hi, Sussim, doing our very best. Check out my reply to Matiasss above.Past year was a bit wasted because the actual MiniPin is ready and works. Securing possible production and fixed prices beforehand is very difficult. And making sure components are available. The whole COVID thing and aftermath changed things quite a bit.
