IMPORTANT INFO, It was not the update! at the same time i updated my printer my nozzle went on me. somehow with a bad nozzle the strain guage is unable to see how hard the nozzle hits the plater. its just bad timing that happened the same time i updated leading me to believe alot of different things. With my on screen movements to left and right, my up and down movements also move. only when i onscreen move the nozzle head my self. i think this is something the max came with/like without me ever noticing but it is not a problem at all, it never happens on auto lvl or within print. strange but works perfectly now. Dont clean your nozzle, BIN IT rebuy a hardened steal nozzle (FLAT TOP)! ty for helping me all :) im one never to give up.
Are these steps needed? I flashed the firmware and seems to work at first glance. Can you give more info as it's not clear please and also how you send those commands?
Last comment : the bed leveling is now at another level ! I had issues before, now it's absolutely spot on. No need to tune the Z-offset... Fantastic !

Awesome video as usual, I just installed the Zombie V2 firmware and its working like a charm! the only difference I noticed is that baby stepping value is .02 and not .01, this is still leagues ahead of the stock .05 baby steps.

Thank you for your video. It's very good. I want to add a note about flashing the new firmware. On my Kobra Max, powering off the unit did not work. The motherboard refused to boot from the SD card. I resolved this problem by powering down the unit, unplugging the unit from the mains, and inserting the SD card. After 20 seconds, I plugged the unit into the mains and turned the power on. The firmware flash proceeded without error.
I could use that improved bed mesh. Recently added a magnetic bed plate, and there’s areas where it clearly must be higher, because the plastic is being mashed right into the material

hi, new to the Kobra Max. The Z offset in Prusaslicer and the Z offset on the printer... Does one take priority over the other? Should I be entering in my offset on the printer? I've been doing it that way, however it'll disappear if I'm not checking it every print. Love the work you're doing on this machine. Thanks!
I just contacted Will at Zombie 3D, about the strange noises made by the extruder and X motor : "The extruder will sound different with the linear advance the stealth chop is disabled to make it work so there will be noise." - Now we know... But it's weird and noisy.
thx just was asking why that is, so there is no permanent damage when using that mode?

So can confirm it does allow for filament change, press pause and then it moves bed forwards and nozzle clear staying at bed temp and nozzle temps.. not sure if it's cura driven or manual but to be honest I always manually change anyway
Curious what ypu're using to clean the bed? I had 91% alcohol ruin one of the Max beds - made it super sticky!

Hey so first question I simply use a slight damp cloth rung dry... and heat bed upto 60c and wipe slowly over the build plate only have too do that once every 5 prints works a treat for me offset is a huge thing too make sure its spot on and not too low so ie lower down creates a squishy of the filament and that creates supper adhesion. Raise it 0.05 on stock but with zombie firmware 0.03 .
2nd question the Anycubic store under the kobra max selling page scroll to the bottom and it shows stock firmware you can refresh back
@@3DPUK-TECH-CHANNEL I grabbed the 2.0 version from his folder dated 25 November, formatted a MicroSD card, inserted it into a powered off Kobra Max, powered it on and nothing seems to be happening. Have you tried this version of the firmware?
Never mind... The Max didn't like the MicroSD card I tried. Tried another one and it worked.

Hey guys, I just wanted to pop over here and share my experience with this firmware install. Installed yesterday on my Max and quickly re-installed the Anycubic 2.8.6. I wanted to experience the life-changing 3D printing perks everyone else seems to be enjoying with this firmware. Unfortunately, it isn't cutting it for me. Main concern is that the motor turns on when I turn the printer on and I have to manually shut it off. Also after print is complete, the motor stays on and I have to manually turn it off - even tho it's in the gcode for it to turn off. The pause function stopped working and when the gantry was moving on the wheels, there was a dragging sound coming from it - the sound is gone since reverting back to Anycubic's firmware. I saw somewhere that it's because of the linear advance function and that the pause function is replaced by the M600 command to change filament while printing? There was really nothing wrong with how my Max was working before - firmware-wise - I just liked the idea of the 49-point bed leveling - thought it would be more accurate and I feel like it was for my test print. But the constantly running motor issue and dragging noise were not ideal. I see that this isn't an issue for a lot of people, but wanted to share my personally experienced side-effects for consideration. Also, while I am sad that this didn't work for me, I am not looking to troubleshoot so I can reinstall - my dad said I need to stop trying to fix things that aren't broken. Thank you for making this available to try out :)
Totally understand I have also reinstalled the OG firmware... its all a matter of personal choice... with the dragging and motor sounds that requires some calibration via pronterface to gain the best settings.... I would agree with your dad's sentiments don't fix those that are broken.... keep printing, keep having fun and don't forget to like and subscribe 😉
Yes, same thing with the dragging noise. It is present even when the motor is stationary, which is bizarre at best. But with a severely warped bed this was my only option and so far it seems to be working
did you re intsall de original firmware from the website? i tried but the screen doesnt work fine
@@3DPUK-TECH-CHANNEL i also have the dragging noise, is there any fix for that? i saw some comment on the facebook page about motor voltages, but the settings are unchanged after the new firmware, so i dont get where it comes from? anybody has a fix for that?

hey again, the problem here lol, if your update did not work, read this! Zombie update is pretty cool with that said i havent tested it fully yet :D it messed up my firmware instead REASON WHY. I used a 2gb memory card that is too small for the bin file witch is hard to believe but u never know OR my SD card was corrupt in some way. used a 8gb sd card i got from another 3d printer and now seems to work! if u guys every hear my problem of bed leveling trying to smash the bed plate after updating, this is why! :D if fails soon i will keep u updated.
Very strangely I installed this firmware, ran the m502 and m500, calibrated esteps, pid autotune, and ran a calibration cube. The cube came out at 20x16x20. I checked the axis steps and they were the same as they were before flashing the firmware, 80 for x and y and 400 for z.
I didn't try playing with the axis steps yet, I just tried flashing back to stock firmware and printing the same cube and it appears to be printing the proper dimensions.
Kobra plus, downloaded the kobra plus zombie v2 firmware.

@@lucas_v2417 I have not messed with it at all. Like I said I just flashed back to stock after that squished cube and have been printing fine since then haha!

Can you add to video card must have any issues fixed and formatted as I had some files on card and it just hung. Formatted card and added bin file all good.

Hey boss. You've been great. Im not sure if I accidentally modified the profile I got from you but im having one problem you might be able to help me with. Im sure its a simple fix but I can seem to figure it out. I grabbed a hallow 3d file and cut it in half so I could mount it on my wall, but when I slice it. It only prints the supports and not the actual object. Ive tried joining the extra features I added and even used boolean, solidified it and it still only prints supports. No object at all. Hope that made sence. Ive never come across this issue

please help, I try to install V 1.8 and try M600 command, all it does is stop and doesnt resume. I try clicking pause, but it just says, paused waiting for cache command to complete.
How hard is it to go back to original firmware if the update sucks? Have not done that before on the max.

V1 was the initial firmware, the a and b are pretty much the same with a slight tweak too the linear setting.... I'm currently still on the a

@@3DPUK-TECH-CHANNEL silly me. I forgot the graphics on display probably not there yet. Printing from an sd card, pressing the pause button resumes it. It just doesn’t show the word “resume”. Also I use M25 for pause and the lcd display pause button resumes it also. Just tried.

I have been trying for a months to get my printer to pause at a certain layer. And be able to resume. I have tried pause at layer height, filament change. And have even tried adding the code G4 S60 for it to automatically resume. Suggestions?

@Mattycars95 in terms of adding this into cura I'm unsure and untested Just know that I can pause and it moves away for filament change... Will try do some testing this week

y axis makes high pitched buzzing noise from stepper motor. after downgrading back to original firmware sounds was gone... help?

I flashed this firmware in my Kobra Max and... it completely messed up the extruder ! it keeps emitting a high-pitched noise, like if something was continuously spinning, but the meshes don't... The printhead's moves sound also different... what's happening ??
Hi mine also does the same its a more around jerk movement I believe , when you say completely messed up your extruder can you elaborate

the extruder will sound a bit different to get linear to work right the extruder needed to be taken out of stealth chop mode and square wave enabled. It will be a bit noiser due to the linear working. But it is normal
Yes that’s Will told me a few hours ago. But still. It is way noisier and it feels like it is damaging the machine…

Hello 3D PUNK, im having problems with updating my kobra max, i was usin 2.8.6 and tried to update to 2.8.7 but the screen got stuck. I just downgrade to 2.8.6 but the screen sometime doesnt work well, like doesnt change the menu, can u help me?
Have you ensured the correct files aren't the sd card also maybe try another sd card. ???

Actually I was doing that because I got the error “hotbed abnormal” I couldn’t fix it
Until I open the motherboard, clean it, connect and disconnect the hotbed cables and now it’s solved! (I just have 2 months with my printer)

so i followed the instructions, and now im stuck at the anycubic screen. Nothing happens. Have I bricked it? I waited a good 30 mins before restarting, and the boot screen shows, but just stops at the anycubic logo. help!
This shouldn't have bricked it did u turn off at the start ? And then place sd card in and then turn back on
Phew, disaster averted. I used a new sd card and formatted again so starting fresh. copied the original firmware on to it, inserted and powered up. firmware reloaded. Tried again with the zombie firmware and it loaded just fine. Must have a dodgy sd card. Thanks for all your awesome work!!!
@@matthewshumack3753 make sure you follow the pinned instructions above too save and then carry out calibration of esteps etc... as per before

Hi, Amazing video. i ran into a problem when updating. when i auto level my bed i've noticed when my hot end moves back and forward or left and right its slightly moving up and down at the same time when not ment too, did i do something wrong. mostly i think anycubics website has got rid of the original firmware file i'm unable to find it. and on your link when i click it i have no idea how to download the original file. please help and thank you for your videos and help :D

@user-xf4ff3bk4d if u put the firmware.bin file only onto a blank micro USB and then with the max turned off add the memory card into the motherboard slot, then turn on the machine this will then activate the firmware upload. Remember to take out once loaded and remove the file off the memory card. You will need to carry out a new bed level

Filament shouldn't be affected by the small steps part of firmware...

Maybe watch around 11mins onwards it shows that the screen doesn't show the changes of offset but it does work I also even reference it at the end of the video.. I didn't skip over it and this video was me updating in real time also so what I was experiencing what other might do
This update WILL brick your machine. Don't install it

@3DPUK, Hola buen día, gracias por compartir esta información, yo lo intenté, cargué el firmware pero no me funcionó 🙃 supongo que debe ser por qué no envié los comandos M502 y M500🤭, por que no los mandé? por que no tengo idea de como hacerlo🤔, tengo experiencia en Klipper y esta impresora me esta resultando muy incomoda pues para mi es importante el comando M600 y entiendo como aplicarlo en Klipper pero esta impresora no conecta por wifi y no se si conectándola por USB a la computadora esta pueda recibir comandos desde alguna terminal pero no se como y si alguno de ustedes me puede orientar al respecto se lo agradezco de antemano pues estoy a 5 minutos de sacarle la tarjeta madre a esta maquina para tirarla a la basura y meterle una nueva con Klipper 🤣 compré esta impresora por que buscaba algo con superficie grande para imprimir pero los últimos meses he estado trabajando con klipper en otra impresora y es excepcionalmente mucho mejor y trabajar con esta Anycubic me ha resultado como dejar un BMW para andar en patines y me gusta andar en patines 🙂 pero quiero que mi impresora funcione como BMW, en fin, que tengas excelente día, saludos.
Si pudiste usar Klipper deberías de ser capaz de usar una terminal serial común
@@aokiomar256 pues no me funcionó, lo intenté 3 veces, así que tome toda la electrónica la puse en una caja y le puse una BTT Manta M5P con una CB1 y asunto arreglado, pase de Ford fiesta a mazeratti 😎
