What I found most interesting is how you store your fresh vegetables in the refrigerator. I think I need to look into this a bit more to keep our food more fresh. Thanks Jane for sharing.

When I needed a new fridge I got one that has big drawers inside specifically for vegetables. They are much bigger than the ones fridges usually have and it has really extended the time I can store vegetables before they go bad. The fridge was a quite expensive brand but I got it secondhand so only paid €350 for it which is €1000 cheaper than new.
The brand is Liebherr if you were wondering.

Last year I saw a woman on TH-cam and she had her fruit and veg in her drawers of her refrigerator, but she had them in small brown bags that she had Cut so they weren’t more than 4 inches tall. Then she had one bag full of apples, one with lettuce, one with onion, Each bag contained its own fruit or veg so I tried it and my fresh produce is lasting 4 to 5 times longer. I bought some brown paper bags on Amazon in different sizes so some of them or maybe 4“ x 6“ or 3 x 3…. So I’m able to just use an appropriate bag and puzzle piece them together, but it is working beautifully.

@@CloudWatcher500 I've never heard of storing these items in paper bags ~ I always stored them in my frig using the plastic bags they came in. I will try this method as I always buy reduced items that never last more than 1 or 2 weeks max.

I have two chest freezers and am canning and trying to get down to just one. What happened was after my old large chest freezer went out we bought a smaller one to replace it. Then I was given another large one- used but in great condition. Living in a hurricane area I don’t want to have them both running in case we have to go on generator. What I will do soon is buy multiple turkeys when they are really low priced around thanksgiving and pressure can them and we will eat on them all year.
Your organization is wonderful and amazing.
I just finished a quilt for the local council on aging after taking 10 quilts to the North Carolina hurricane victims. Most of the quilts I donated were made by other people for donating but the recipient was changed to NC after the bad storm.
I also made your egg fried rice night before last. It was delicious. I used leftover veges and meat and turned the blah into a delicious meal.
Thank you for another great, informative video!

I do the same with the Turkey, best way to stock up on that sort of thing. I also had to do the same thing with my older chest freezer. I had another upright which is fine for just me now. But I set to canning and stocked my pantry. Happy canning it's a lot of work but less expensive and satisfying knowing you've got what you need on hand.😊

Woman after my own heart!!! I love the organization! I have had friends ask me to organize their pantry. It amazes me when they are shocked as to what is in the pantry they didn't know they had or how much of something they have. In my deep freezer, I have a shelf for hamburger.chicken,pork.beef, and fish. In my frig freezer I have frozen veggies, frozen potatoes and breads. Oh and butter. I keep sugar and flour in 5 gallon buckets. Ideally hate to grocery shop so I try to do a big shop every few months. All I have to get biweekly is milk and fresh fruits and veggies. Thank you for sharing.

Wow….that Pantry was spotless !😊. I get rings on my shelves from the bottom of bottles - ugh. I don’t ‘stock-up’ as such, but my son occcasionally goes to Costco for his family & he sometimes takes me along, although Unfortunately, most things are in bulk, so I rarely buy from there. I cook whatever is in Season at the supermkt & so is the cheapest, & mostly from Aldi. I can get good bargains of meat & fish with a third off if I go early enough. Sometimes, I will put a pack of Mince straight into the freezer, sometimes I will cook it with either tinned tomatoes/Herbs or Hendersons Relish/Gravy Grans/Herbs, split it into 4 & freeze each quarter in separate bags & the same goes for chicken. Aldi has just had an offer on all week of ‘meat cut from chicken Drumsticks’, 600 grm for £1,99, so I bought 3 pks & split them. If you keep your eyes open, you can get many a bargain. I have to be more frugal this Winter, as I have just lost my Winter Fuel Allowance, thanks to our new Government.☹️

I was honestly surprised that they don't seem to grow their own food. I'm a really lazy gardener. I loathe weeding but since I discovered the magic of mulch my kitchen garden has increased substantially.
Also I grow mostly perennials - again lazy gardener here. My favourites are berries of all kinds so I'm all set for jams and then Jerusalem artichokes. I planted some I bought at the supermarket and have been selectively growing the ones with the sweetest flavour and fewest knots to the point I now have large round and sweet chokes. I use them as you would potatoes and even eat them raw as you would an apple. They have a kind of coconutty taste to them.

Hello from the US. I actually just found you on the video with your quilt in a week; lovely quilt that was. Love seeing your adorable puppies. I have started stockpiling food and staples because of the terrible increase in prices on food and everything else. I typically only buy product that's on sale. I live in a basement apt, very small; esp the kitchen - so space is at a premium. I buy in bulk and store in glass jars and lrg food storage containers. Thank you for sharing; take care. Until next time.

Full of frozen meats, frozen vegetables and some convenience foods, frozen pot pies for lunches and Asian dumplings. Also we have a well stocked pantry of canned foods, dried pastas, beans. Sauces, oils and vinegars. Basically everything you have shown in your pantry and freezer including fish fingers, as my husband is British too and we live in America. I recently went through my own pantry which I have kept fairly well stocked. I always date each item on the day I purchased it and highlight the expiration date before placing anything in my pantry. Like yourselves I have one large meal and one small in the evening but always have breakfast. When I look at your stockpile, which is extensive, I can’t imagine how so many things could be consumed before they expire. Please educate us all as to how you manage this aspect of your food. I always date and rotate my food on the shelves too. If I open something and it doesnt get completely used either into the kitchen cupboard or fridge it goes and gets used in my meal rotation. Sometimes I'll gather it all up and make soup in a few days then freeze it or can it. Because I live alone I'll even make meat pies, or extra meatballs, etc. And freeze them for another time if I get it on sale and is too much for me. I live very rural and although the closest store is only 15 minutes away. I have a garden for most of my veggies and herbs but also buy from an organic local farm. I usually get my meats at another local farm as well that has an open to the public store. It's a win as far as I'm concered. Keeps me away from the not so fresh and good for you stuff that's so prevalent in our food these days.

Unfortunately I do not have a pantry cabinet so I have a rolling cart that holds a decent amount for me. Like you I try to only buy on sale. Here in the midwest U.S. the sales are often on reduced price but we don't generally see % off sales. Occasionally we will see 10% off canned products but never 20% or 34% like you talk about. The pet supply stores will sometimes have 20% off online purchases. Thank you Jane!

It's fantastic but gets messy quickly. Meat is rather expensive here in Canada so my husband always says "buy lots!" when something is on special (advert) We have a very large chest freezer in the garage and a small one in our porch. They are always full and we work diligently to make sure food gets rotated out regularly. It's a chore, but we manage. I also preserve by canning so if I fear something will "go over" soon, it gets pressure sealed in jars. Zero waste in this household!

Love, love, love, your pantries and freezers. I wish I had all those drawers in mine. I put bins on my shelves to seperate different meats and vegies etc. My fish and other seafood things go in the drawers. My husband passed away 2yrs ago so I've gone through my pantry and restocked only for myself now. Its a 6x9 temp controlled walk in that I also keep paper goods and my big soup pots and other kitchen pans and gadgets in that I don't use everyday. It keeps me from heading to the basement for them. I had a lot of dry goods like pastas, beans, rice, flour, those sort of things so i vacume sealed them in glass jars. They'll last longer that way. I used pint size jars because im only cooking for one now. I wish i could find some of the things you showed us here in the U.S. I try to eat whole healthy foods without a lot of unnecessary toxic ingredients. The fewer on the "warning label" as I like to call it, the better. I live very rural with a lot of snow in the winter. So this time of year I make sure my pantry is well stocked. I only go shopping 2 times a month and shop the sales and get free as well as points items like you do, except to get fresh milk and butter at the little country store down the road. Staying organized can be a challenge but you seem to have it well in hand.

It is nice to see someone else stock up on food items they bring back from their home country. I am doing my best to find substitute items in the country I now live in. Instead of beef gravy, I now use a creamed beef soup.

Great video! Similar storage to yours! Will never go hungry even if a winter snowstorm means I cannot go out for a couple of days. Like you I try to always buy when on offer and always seasonal. I dry herbs from my garden or freeze them depending on what they are and also freeze some berries and local veggies to use in the winter . I try to keep everything in storage canisters like mason jars or Tupperware and put bay leaves on all of the shelves to ward off any moths etc. seems to work. Looking forward to that brownie recipe!

Hi Mike and Jane you are so organised. I also loved this video - thank you as always💖🤗 My kitchen is very sparse. My fridge is almost empty and I have a fridge/freezer but the freezer is stocked up with poultry and fish, vegetables, soups and berries (I think I have mentioned this before!). I don't have much in my kitchen cupboards though have a shelf of various teas, coffee, drinking chocolate and the same sweetener that you use as well as honey and maple syrup. Apart from a container of rice and a few knorr stock pots and a few other bits and literaly not much. However, I have started building a extra food source of tins, rice, honey, oat milk etc as well as stocking up on toiletries, T. Rolls, cleaning products etc. May you both have a blessed week and your little doggies are as always so very cute - Daisy and Mary (as you can tell I am not great at remembering their name🤦‍♀)

I really enjoyed this! I have a refrigerator/ freezer in my kitchen and a freezer in my garage! What I love about your freezers are the drawers! Mine are just open shelves with a pullout basket in the bottom! I keep a well stocked freezer at all times with plenty of beef, poultry, pork, and assorted fish. I have some frozen vegetables and fruits but still need some more frozen green vegetables! I have a nice variety of flours, sugars, nuts, and seeds, coffee, teas and canned meat and fish, puddings, Birds custard, gelatins, salts and spices! Last week, I emptied and re-organized two cabinets in my kitchen. I keep shelf stable milk, and dried buttermilk powder, pastas, etc. I am well stocked.

Nice to see a good Pantry store and to see someone using same tactics have used for years to and grown up with to build up a good food store. I am lucky in that I have a small walk in Pantry with shelves floor to ceiling one side, larger shelves in the middle to just below waist height and shelves to the right to about waist height. There is storage underneath for a couple of large plastic containers for bulk items. Then I have under the stair cupboard where all my jams, chutneys, pickles, curds, bottled fruits and heat processed foods stored which also escape into what was the old fireside cupboard. Making what space I do have work for me, although could do with a larger Pantry overall. Cook a lot of stuff from scratch although have very occasionally convenience food not often though. Buy when on offer and "cherry pick" items that we eat and work for us on a regular basis. Have also just got another freezer after 3 years without any and have just got it stocked up. Lost a shed in a fire together with three freezers, two wine coolers and an extra fridge and contents. Taken a while to replace. Also have a large larder fridge as well. Food usually stocked at the beginning of the month with measures to freeze foods to cover towards the end of the month as well. We pay it forward to cover all eventualities. If pennies are tight we still eat well and the Pantry sees us through and gives food security. Everyone should have one. Keep up the good work. Tricia

Debbie-Texas we have our fridge freezer but are blessed to have 6 ft length freezer in our garage. We have a garden so I can and freeze the surplus. We buy 1/2 beef every 2 yrs, when the price is right. Pork, fish is bought on sale only. Much like you do. We go the store 1x a month, unless dog food or something we need is really on a good sale. Cupboards could hold us about 2 months ( dry goods) our kids are grown and some live close by with the grands. Enjoy cooking for them once a week. Thank you both !!

Canadian here. I have some things set aside as well. I have a baking cupboard to make gluten free and regular baking things from. I have a pantry and a store cupboard with tins and bulk purchased items. I have items I have canned ( strawberry rhubarb jam, relish, raspberry jam, peaches, tomtaotes...) under a bed. I try only to purchase things on sale(on offer). We get most of our produce and meat/fish discounted or on clearance. My deep freezer is stocked with clearance meats and seasonal produce. I have a bag that I store veggie peels and bits and bones for making stock. I stock up on red lentils, navy/kidney/black beans and chickpeas. I have herbs from my garden that i have dehydrated, along with leeks, carrots, onions, cherry tomatoes and celery for making stews and soups. It's about having healthy ingredients to make delicious flexitarian meals. It also is planning as we live in a small town of about 5000 and winters can be snowy. Cost savings is a must for us.

Great stock there Jane, you are so organised, I wish my freezers looked as good as yours. I too try to stock up when things are on offer and I always look out for the reductions especially on the meat and poultry( I don’t eat fish). I have a fridge freezer and an under the counter size freezer,I rotate things from my under the counter one into the fridge freezer in my kitchen which I use out of first. Anything new goes into the under the counter one. I portion thing up before freezing them. I also bulk cook and freeze fresh produce I don’t think I will use before it deteriates . I freeze produce from my garden that is surplus to use over winter. I too take advantage of the offers on my loyalty cards.

I stock up once a month. We live in an apartment in the US, but we have an insulated garage so it doesn't get too cold in there and that's where we store our freezer, which is similar in size to the one you have in your basement. Great video as always. Have you ever watched Kate at the full freezer, she has amazing tips on packing your freezer and freezing foods you wouldn’t have thought of freezing. Completely changed the way I use my freezer. Although we live in a very small bungalow I have at least four months supply of all the foods that we eat, like yourself tinned meats and chicken, fish such as tuna, salmon, sardines and mackerel. We are in the process of making a vegetable plot as we are lucky enough to have a big garden. Maybe because I am a boomer and old habits passed on from my grandparents and parents are ingrained. Keep up the great work.

I do keep a well stocked pantry. When my grandson moved out, we took his bedroom over as a pantry. We keep our dry goods and canned goods on shelves. We have 2 freezers and a refrigerator freezer. I have racks on the wall in the pantry with my backup spices. A very dark curtain keeps it dark in there and a fan runs for air circulation. I’m very thankful I’m able to have this supply. Again - great video. 😊
