The find on the coins is a really positive step forward, Matt. It’s interesting how the image becomes more stylised over time as folk know what it means.
We need one to turn up in a boat now!
The trigger warning is a great approach for TH-cam! Wish I’d thought of that.

Matt, was that drawer of socks possibly knitted…by dodecahedron?!
Great find with the coins. I really like this theory, and it is by far the strongest one out there on these devices.
I think the southeast Asian connection cannot be ignored, and your theory is the only one that accounts for that. The Greeks had opened up the Indian Ocean after Alexander the Great, and the Romans were heirs to this Greek sea trade outside of the Mediterranean.

given that they can at that point in time put the shape of a human eye on a coin , i feel the shape on the coin would have been a closer match .

If dodecahedrons were kept on the ships, why haven't any been found on the numerous sunken ships? A huge amount of artefacts have been recovered from such ships, surely some would have been found by now...?

Matt, if I understood correctly (I'm translating from English to Spanish using Google), the coins reported that the ships carried a secret communication device, the same as the army. In other words, it's as if the German coins had carried a drawing of the ENIGMA machine. André Steyert, in his book "Nouvelle histoire de Lyon", 1895, Figure 196, page 133, explains that it is "a radiated globe, but it is actually a dodecahedron with navigating angles" (Wikimedia Commons). Greetings.

A symbolic logo on the coins would represent the code wheel rather than the dodecahedron itself I feel , a sign for those in the know rather than the general population maybe. Hmm. Sounds both feasible/possible and probable. I do like the extra code that the possible capt could have that would ensure security. Reminds me of the enigma machines and how they just added an extra wheel to increase it's unbreakableness. All thoughtful stuff.👍
