Thanks man! That really means a lot. That album was a lot of fun and experimental. Grown a lot since then, but love to hear that others found some cool ideas out of it. Thanks for listening!
The more music you analyse the more confusing it gets. If I had any advise I would say don't run before you can walk. Just stick to intro-main-main+variation-outro and when you are finished add the build ups and breaks afterwards. That's the easiest way to do it if you are struggling with structure. I had problems finishing tracks because things can get a bit overwhelming creating a song in sequential order. Best of luck to y'all whichever method you choose
this has happened to me. I used to create a 4-8 bar loop and basically add everything in that loop to where I'd have around 15-20 tracks, then separate it break it down add whatever and end up w/a song. When I tried creating an intro, then the main, then build up and break then outro it became considerably harder...is it me or is this a mono left video, concerning the audio?
Really good idea about creating a midi track and just having the structure arrangement in it, its really helpful, never thought of it before, cheers! :)
hey subaqueous, im guessing your the one who created the album "wave pulse" i enjoyed that album up to 20 times, in 2012. it may not be the greatest album ever, but there is something great about it. i found it to be very original, creative, and uplifting. felt a little silly for listening so many times but i really liked it. believe i found it on piratebay. anyways thanks, and now you know somebody who got a lot of work done while enjoying your music (im here to try and finally learn) :O
hey i have a question would this be an ok djable tune: 32 bar intro 32 bar drop 24 bar breakdown 48 bar drop 16 bar outro or should i just stick with a 16 or 32 bar breakdown and another 32 bar drop (as the second drop) help me plz?:)
Here it is for you: subaqueousmusic. com/production-articles/music-theory/86-dubstep-and-electronic-music-song-structure It's at the end of the article.
Why I can't put my audio output to mono? T_T But first why can't you center your voice in the video? Voice commentaries in one ear only is pissing people off for a reason. When you wear headphones you can't miss it.
Thank you, my left ear really enjoyed this tutorial.
+Dror Bazer Thought my fucking headphones were broken
@@thegroingringus2607 hhshahahahahaha omg, bro this made my day. legit.
LOL
Weird how people who's job it is to make audio seem to make stupid mistakes like not making sure their mic is balanced. :/
To add, not fix it in post?
NOMA

DJillogick i agree, starting with the drop and then breaking it up to make an intro is prolly the smartest way
I find producing in sequence easier

Thanks! btw in Pop Music we have also a "Middle 8 Part" (also called C - Part) and somtimes a a pre Chorus to introduce the "big" chorus!
Good vid man. After watching this i realised how underrated "break" sections are. T#hanks
That is a great technique as well. I forget to do that and should make better notes that way. Thanks!
Yeah man! Breaks are supper important to give the next section more power. Glad to help!
brilliant with the midi clips labelled up top, thanks a ton for this upload!
Cool Video man. Dig the song used as an example.
Hey Subaqueous, I Was Wondering if you could tell me what Plugins do you Use To make you're Tracks . Thanks :)
Thanks man. That is a track I made for my new Ep that should be coming out soon. It's called Emerald Drops. I will post a link when I can.
That is a GREAT idea! I will try and find that old set. If I do I will post you a link.
Very helpful video. Helps build peoples creative foundation.
That's really helpful. Thanks a lot !

most helpful vid on this subject. thanks
I am learning EDM, and this tutorial was really helpful! It is surprinsingly hard to find good information about song production...
+filipe mutz Glad to help out Filipe!
how long have you been making electronic music for?
Thank you very much! This is so helpful.
dude, props
Thanks dude!!
thanks man, this was most helpful. appreciated.
very helpful. perfect job!
INVALUABLE. Thanks.
Can I get this template man?
what u mean with 50% percent breakdown. a breakdown is way shorter than 50% breakdown of the song??????
Sh***t, I was scared of heart attack, I thought my right speaker had died! LOL
Here it is for you: subaqueousmusic. com/production-articles/music-theory/86-dubstep-and-electronic-music-song-structure It's at the end of the article.
okay! thanks m8!
ahhh your left channel works but not the right channel. Issues with your sound output on this video...
I know... I cant fix the audio with out reuploading it. I forgot to set it to mono. I think this was my first tutorial video of all time as well.
My left ear enjoyed this. lol.

Voice commentaries in one ear only is pissing people off for a reason.
When you wear headphones you can't miss it.
I never understand how producers will hard pan the video audio to one side and not notice.
Dude when do you play the Shit?
i only had my right earbud in when I started this video
like no joke for 3 minutes I legitimately thought I was being trolled
Guess this is one of those times only having the right speaker working makes something unwatchable :p
I know it's very frustrating
Many operating systems and/or soundcard softwares allow for a pan.
Vid looking good but your sound is hard right on the stereo
Does audio tutorials. Full tutorial is panned left.
This was the first video I ever made. It's like 4+ years old. I've gotten better... I swear ;)
New article on this with a free download:

I meant 50% of the song has played then the breakdown happens.
EDM Tutorial video before it was cool (2011)
Drinking game:
Take a shot at every voice crack. rip.
how ironic: only Left channel on a music/sound video...
My right ear :( It's so lonely
My right ear is lonely :(
2011... I see. Thus making 2018 A LIE!
huh?
My right ear is deaf
LOL IN THE BEDROOM
lol, better switch your speakers around
The on this video sound is poor. If I don't forget to turn my speakers down I'm gonna blow them.
