Its super easy to learn. Its one of the most basic weapons in the game. Thats why I like it. Its just less forgiving with fuck ups. But I find it easier to learn body language than button combos so its a natural fit for me. The charge changed things up a lot but made it so much better. idk if another comment has mentioned this, but overcharging is still a thing with the greatsword in Iceborne and RIse. It's most noticeable in rise as your weapon goes from the bright yellow glow to the orangish glow if you hold it too long. Loved watching my favorite weapon's evolution tho, pretty cool stuff! Damn, seeing the GS from the PS2 game is bringing me the feels back. I consider it the first weapon I mained and I'm grateful for picking it up. Back in the original game, the only weapon you had available to you was the SnS, as opposed to having one of each weapon at your chest like in recent games, and I hated it back then, so as soon as I was able to craft a different kind of weapon, I went with the GS. It was rough adapting to it after using the quick SnS fro a while, but the satisfaction I got from each hit with it was great! I still remember the feeling I got after FINALLY killing that first Yian Kut-Ku from the Jungle, it was so good! The GS is still to this day the weapon I recommend the most to new players. With it, you can't just go hitting the monsters all willy nilly, you really need to "learn" the monster so that you can find a good opening and dish out some ridiculous damage. After you learn the GS, I guarantee you'll have a easier time using other weapons against any monster!
"new gen weapons like the Switch Axe" ... Tri is over 11 years old by now. T_T But I get what you mean. Come to think of it, it's rather funny to see Tri came out 5 years after MH1, but ever since then the gap between each generation became larger and larger. It took them 4 years from Tri to 4, and another 5 years from 4 to 5 (World). I don't say that's a bad thing, but it just shows how much stuff put into each newer generation. World released in 2018, 3 years ago, and now since Rise comes out, it will most-likely be 2 to 3 years until we see the sixth generation of MH.
@@obonkey I could see that sense we've had games like that before, portable 3rd for example, but the difference of something like that and Rise is that rise is getting a lot more new monsters than a non mainline game would. Generations had only 9 new monsters where as Rise we're getting a whole roster. So I would say Rise is 6th gen, at least until we get confirmation wether it is or isn't.
Thank you for showing that god awful mh1 quest with the sand fish. That was what I did with gs and it was one of the most miserable quests I've ever played
The one thing you forgot to mention involving the 'Tackle' from Gen 5 and in Rise, is its important ability to create a shortcut to the hunter's True Charge Slash. After the first initial slash and tackling, a hunter can then initiate the true charge. It was the one good shortcut until the slingerburst came along in the Iceborne expansion.
This weapon rly got me out of my comfort zone and learn to commit more to attacks. Still weirds me out how I used to play it when it was jank af w/ no charge back in MH Freedom. But yeh this weapon *IS* Monster Hunter in its just purity, so happy you covered it. Maybe best weapon *Sword and Shield* next, please?
PS2 GS was the longsword of its generation. Because of the smaller moveset, people would use normal swing into upswing over and over and people would get sent flying by it.
Amazing Video! I tend to change my weapons every game since 4U and despite its flaws I think Aerial Style Greatsword is probably one of my favorite ways to play MH ever. I sunk so much time into it on both games.
As a GS main, I used to think Hunting Edge was really useless because it was so difficult to aim. But I spent some time figuring out how to efficiently use it (find the right distance sheathed and facing the monster, then go into a guard to quickly unsheathe), and it became a way more gratifying move. If you land it, you can press ZR immediately to go into a charging downthrust which can go into a charged strong slash, which can then follow up into a true charge slash. It's actually a great combo starter in the right situation, if the monster staggers then the full combo is SO gratifying to nail. My only warning is that it does require 2 wirebugs, so it does leave you vulnerable if you whiff, but again that's the gamble we GS live by. :) It used to feel incredibly difficult to get into a mounting state compared to other weapons, but if you master Hunting Edge you can go into wyvern riding FAST.
Did some testing in training area, I want to add that timing the release of the downthrust charge is important, you want to charge to 3 levels when possible, but you get more damage when you can reliably get three hits off the downthrust. Also, you can choose a direction to leap towards after Hunting Edge strikes, which is very difficult but may come in handy if it connects anywhere other than the head, but ideally you want to aim it at the head at all times, it makes the setup for the rest of the combo a lot easier.
Amazing look at the history of the weapon! I think GS embodies 'easy to use hard to master'. I'll add a couple of things: - The armor from charging attacks protects you from tripping, small flinches and wind pressure up to a point. - The tackle animation has technically existed since Tri as it replaced the kick when underwater for all weapons. - The strong charge wasn't very useful at first due to the commitment required to use it, this changed with Gen and especially World where GS became more combo oriented. - World's TCS and tackle made GS' use revolve heavily around them, to such an extent Capcom had to buff the strong charge and later in Iceborne nerf/rework the TSC and buff the charged slash and strong charge. - GS' aerial attack was infamous in World for its high DPS (later nerfed in Iceborne) and its ability to mount monsters. - Iceborne slinger burst allowed for greater reorientation to land your TSC. Also no, you aren't alone. Hunting Edge is quite underwhelming.
The Greatsword, the best ambusher weapon, and the go-to weapon when using the sleep-bomb tactic, using sleep status to maximize the spike damage while bombs quickly follow up with damage that can break parts effectively.
7:57 GS became my secondary in 4U after I played the demo and fell in love with the charge swipe. That move has one of my favourite animations and the blood trail on swipe. Anyways it's going to take a while to get used to true charged slash, I'm not a fan but hopefully I'll turn around on it come Rise official
The one and only. The Great Sword! There's nothing more satisfying then predicting the monsters next attack and punishing them for it. If you want to master the Great Sword you gotta have the READS.
I know there won't be a video about the Accel Axe because there's just so little info on it, not to mention it's completely lost now, but perhaps you could mention it in one of the newer generation videos. In the Charge Blade video or Insect Glaive one perhaps. Or maybe in the Prowler video.
Just wanted to say that the only thing that changes the tackle from cancelling out of stronger charges is that it does more damage, and you forgot to mention it can inflict decent KO if done to the target's head. Aside from that, I think you did a fairly good job covering the weapon's history and appreciate the effort you put in.
One of the best feeling with GS is punishing the monster for moving out of the way of your charge slash by making the monster flinch or outright KOing it after a perfect shoulder tackling to the head, then unleashing a TCS while it's panting or down in the dirt.
Bruh i JUST loaded my amazon van and this drops. Gonna be a great listen while on my way to my first stop. Thanks man! I appreciate the effort you put into all your videos!
The best part of the greatsword is that the design is so iconic that every single MH-like game has made attempts to copy the design. The weapon is a icon not just in MH but in the hunting genre as a whole. Simple, effective and extremely fun to mess around with.
Started playing MH1 just recently, and chose to make me a Greatsword. For Gen 1, its relative jank-less-ness (outside of the usual long animations of course) is making for a pretty painless run so far. Took a while to get enough mats to make it tho sense I've only found 2 mining spots in the first local so far and mining's way more random.
Great vid! It's nice to hear some of the history for my main weapon, the Sharp Hammer. I started back in 3U, but I only picked it up a couple months ago and it clicked real well. It'd be rad to see Dual Blades covered next!
I know this would be a crazy extra amount of work, but it'd be cool, since these are the history of the weapons, if you could include some external things about the weapon outside of their mechanics. Like the popularity of their usage, if they were featured in any official art or marketing, and some popular models and sets for the generation.
Oh look its SuperRAD with another fantastic Video! I think you are right that most people in the early days of Monster Hunter just saw a dude with a big ol‘ sword fighting a dragon on the cover and bought the game because of it. For me it was almost the same, but it was actually the back of the Game Package. The German cover of Freedom 1 had a picture of a hunter in Full Velocidrome Skin armor (The cosplay version, not the normal armor) wielding the Velocidrome Dual Blades on the back and for some reason that made me buy the game. I was young okay? But anyways, Dualblades basically got me into the series and that‘s the weapon I‘d like to see next :)
That first clip in the OG desert just filled me with nostalgia. Playing Freedom on my PSP as a kid and not knowing how items work, ending up wasting 20 minutes till i managed to get 3 piscine livers and almost dying of heat stroke durring the process...good times, good times xD

@@Shadowslash1 The Quality of life changes in the newer games are awesome, but there is just something charming...or rather nostalgic about the old games. As clunky as they may be. Recently replayed MH Freedom via a PSP emulator and to this day i can not understand how did i ever found that game fun as a kid xD Despite that,i still hold it as the best MH game out of them all, just because it introduced me to the franchise and gave me a lot of fun memories about it as well. Like when i was doing my guild urgent quest solo to level up to HR2,doing 2 diablos with only 4 minutes left out of the 50 and then seing that victory screen...priceless.
My first weapon in Freedom Unite was the Great Sword. And it's been a comfortable weapon for me to use ever since. I'd be looking forward to the hammer, lance, and its American cousin the Gunlance.
World was my first Monster Hunter game, and I used the Greatsword for basically my entire time playing. Every time I thought about swapping out, I'd see some giant new damage number pop up that would hook me again. Now I'm starting to play both Rise and Generations Ultimate, and my trusty companion will stay right by my side! Though I've been loving the Hammer in Rise, the GS will always hold a majority stake in my heart.
Great Sword + Adept is so much fun because after a perfect dodge, you can then run towards the monster and follow up with an attack which is never not satisfying
I joined the series at 4 Ultimate, and having never played the older games it's wild to see the Great Sword didn't even have charge attacks in the first game, great and informative vid for people like me Also do Sword and Shield next that is my bread and butter
My favorite weapon is Sword & Shield (I've been playing it exclusively across the MH games for a decade now). I'd like to see you cover Sword & Shield next.
You forgot to mention that Gen 4 onwards the aerial GS slash can be charged, making it much more useful. Thats why the silkbind jump is actually pretty useful.
First time youtube recomend me a channel I realy like and enjoy, love the videos, I could sound a little corny but I feel the pasion and hard work you put in your videos, hope you talk about frontier weapons, greetings from Mexico
GS was one of 1st weapons I actually tried to learn when I first started to play MHW. The damage it does makes up for the slower attack speed. For the next weapon history leason? Either Dual blades or Gunlance maybe? I kinda have a love/hate relationship in World and Rise demo with them so I would really like how they were in older titles.
interesting to hear that you have mixed feelings w/ modern Gunlance considering how jank they were in past gens up until say p3rd kinda wanna know why tbh
@@notmbr Perhaps it's how different the build is compared to other weapons since I rather invest heavily on a few weapons with interchanceable skills if possible. Also, the lack of guard point or a counter compared to other weapons with a shield puts me a little off. Gunlance is really good at what it's supposed to do in MHGU/MHWI/Rise but with a shield at your disposal, I always wanted it to more interactive with it. I know SnS doesn't have any of that until Rise as well, it's mobility and shield bashing makes up for that. That said, I do like how you're just blasting away with the weapon and have no real concern for armored parts unless you wanna swinglance at lower sharpness. Wyvern's fire is one my favorite attacks in the game and the vanilla MHW swinglance meta was pretty fun too tho. Rise demo beefed it up with air shelling, guarding while Wyvern's fire is up and the new silkbind attacks. Gunlance is one of those weapons I do like but don't want to invest/main in. Same goes for DB, I like it but not gonna use it by myself much. Come to think of it, I don't really have any weapon in MH that I really despise, it's just not my preferred weapon of choice.
I quite like the hunter’s edge, it’s a good way to reposition and cover ground without sheathing- plus, it’s yet another good excuse to squeeze in a good charged slash
My main weapon in World and GenUltimate! The animation and feel of the True Charge Slash is what really sold me on the weapon in World. Valor style is my go to for GenUltimate. Just love the hit and run playstyle. I am considering focusing on other weapons in Rise, but I will always get enjoyment from Greatsword. 😁
Great vid! I started in 3U as a GS main and skipped straight to world and then rise, so it’s interesting to see how the weapon evolved. 2 small changes that were made from world to rise that weren’t mentioned: In world, the side blow could only combo into the regular charge slash. Which is strictly a downgrade. I guess they just really wanted people to tackle? Idk, capcom seemed like they wanted to punish players who weren’t just going straight for TCS. This was changed in rise, and you can now side blow into strong charge slash again, which is nice for getting a little extra distance from a short tackle. Also, in world, the strong wide slash combos back into a strong charge slash, but in rise, the strong wide slash now combos into true charge slash (or rage slash if you’re using that). This actually makes wirebug -> plunging thrust -> strong wide slash pretty safe if you have rage slash, since you can have hyper armor right after. These are pretty minor things that I appreciated a lot in rise since imo, it makes the weapon play more smoothly. TCS spamming was fun but I much prefer having more flexible options, and more paths to The Big Chop. P.S. I could be mistaken about one of these since it’s been awhile since I played world, but feel free to correct me or add on!
I've mained a different weapon each Monster Hunter I've played, from SNS to LS (don't hate me), Lance, DS, Bow, Hammer, Gun Lance, to GS with World and Iceborne. Never got a feel for it until then and now I absolutely love it, hopped into the Rise Demo with it and might stick with it at the start. Love the video!
I have been playing the series from the beginning. For a time Monster Hunter, Pokemon, Elder Scrolls Oblivion & Neverwinter Nights was ALL I played. Its super easy to learn. Its one of the most basic weapons in the game. Thats why I like it. Its just less forgiving with fuck ups. But I find it easier to learn body language than button combos so its a natural fit for me. The charge changed things up a lot but made it so much better. Later the shoulder bash made us basically invincible....at least thats how it feels. I have been using it from the beginning & didn't do any co-op until 3U. Ended up making me a pretty good player. One of the few games I can claim to be good at. Been watching for a while and I honestly thought I was subbed, I was so confused when I saw that I wasn't, but that has been fixed. Great video, as always! Since you did such an iconic weapon this time, why not go for one that's often overlooked next? The Sword and Shield is a great weapon, but even still to this day I see people overlooking it because it seems to be "too simple" or because "the damage output isn't high enough."
I Played MHfreedom but never really got into the GS, i only mained SnS and DB, hope you'd cover SnS and DB next. However when MHFU came with its charge mechanic then thats when I got into GS and mained it. Great vid, subbed.
greatsword became my favorite weapon in the game real fast💕 its so satisfying to predict a true charge combo and get a finishing slap on a sleeping monster hhhhhhh
Fun thing I like about the great sword is that second only to the hammer it is one of the primary weapons for punishing monsters that like to charge. The shoulder bash in world adds the ability set if combo correctly to stagger and then go into straight damage. 4h had that in a couple of the move sets from generation ultimate, but they kind of refinally refined it. Always be bashing.
It would be cool if after you finish all the wep history you could go do monster specific like example the story behind the black rathian aka unknown love your vid there good back ground sound
Tonfas could work in mainline MH, but Magnet Spike? Never gonna happen. That weapon was just WAY too stupid, and you'd have to gut it so much for the sake of balance that it would cease to be the Magnet Spike anymore.
Very good, I m apreachiating your videos more and more, really well detalied and with precise informations, I can see that you really love this saga, so do I. I think it could be good to see the weapons that are presents in the series from the begnning or almost, for now, maybe sword and shield :)
Great Sword made me buy Monster Hunter Tri, my first MH game. I read in a magazine a very earnest review of Tri and in the screenshots I could see the GS in action. The review said that the game felt heavy just like the weapons look but that each hit is rewarding and satisfying as the fights are hard. Being a fan of FFVII I thought to myself "why not use the BIG BIG sword and fight dragons?" I fell in love with the series. I mained GS and Lance in Tri, then HH since 3U.
This was the first weapon I truly mastered back on Monster Hunter. I started with the SnS but it didn't click with me, then I saw the option to make dual blades (Being new to the game I called them 'Dual Swords' despite not all of them being swords so from time to time I'll call it DS instead of DB). I just wasn't able to hunt as well without a block... then I picked up the Great Sword (which was another reason for my mistake on DB because not all the GS were swords [Frozen Tuna ftw XD ]) and then began my hunter career. Gen 2 I went between it and LS, as my play style began to be more geared towards mobility. I'd still use GS when I needed that block or the newly introduced charge mechanic and faithfully upgraded both (and playing around with the new Gunlance and Bow introduced then as well). I skipped Gen 3 and returned in Gen 4, with the IG and CB introduced, I left the GS as it was just too slow for me... but I couldn't leave it completely. A part of my heart is forever in that blade that first got me through hunting. Come MHGen, I played Striker GS and that was enjoyable, it wasn't until GenU (I skipped Worlds and have no regret in doing so) when I picked up Valor GS and it was like seeing a long lost friend again. Valor GS gave it mobility, thus adding it back to my arsenal it felt great to welcome it back aboard: Main weapons: LS, DB, IG Side weapons: GS, GL, CB A few things you missed, two really. Gen 1: MH on PS2 may have had that right analog thing, but when it got ported to PsP, it used the button scheme that later got put into MHF2. First Gen, since it had no charge it had the walking combo (Triangle/Circle) and the stationary combo (Triangle + Circle/ Circle), the latter was good at downed monsters. Rise Demo: The silkbind move that puts you into the air gives you an air quick charged slash I would love to see a history on the Dual Blades, the first weapon to split off from another (In the first gen, it split off from SnS).
Super armor on charged attack started in MHF1. Vespoid can still stun if it procs, but its attack cant stop the charge. Same with some large monster's "step damage. " They cant flinch you out of the charging animation. However a bullfango does knock you over... As usual.
We need to talk about Gunlance. More specifically, we need to talk about the heat gauge from Generations so that the world can know about Capcom's crimes.
Hey SuperRAD. This is the first video of yours that was recommend to me and honestly I'm upset I didnt know about your channel sooner. I got into MH in World and picked up the GS because of how powerful the weapon looked. When I finally got into learning how the weapon played and the utility that it provided, flinching monsters, cutting tails and tackling through roars I began to feel like I understood GS. I built different sets around its play style. A support GS that focused on draw affinity to make up for my missing DMG when chugging a potion, A KO set that focused on impact attacks and punishing draw (Shoulder tackling a monster into KO felt great). After building set after set I once again had this feeling like I understood GS. Then I realized just how deep these weapons could go, because I picked up a longsword and realized that the amount of options existing in the GS was in....every....weapon. (⊙o⊙)and like that my mind exploded with the possibilities. I have over 600 hours in World near 150 in GU and near 30 in the Rise Demo, and in every one of those games the weapons feel distinct, yet you can see the lineage. My long and rambling point is that your coverage of the GS is great and it hits on a lot of points that are spot on. oh by the way I was actually that guy wondering why you werent talking about the charge attacks. Had no clue that charge was introduced later.
Please let me know what weapon you want covered next and please consider throwing a like, sub and comment my way!

It used to feel incredibly difficult to get into a mounting state compared to other weapons, but if you master Hunting Edge you can go into wyvern riding FAST.
Did some testing in training area, I want to add that timing the release of the downthrust charge is important, you want to charge to 3 levels when possible, but you get more damage when you can reliably get three hits off the downthrust. Also, you can choose a direction to leap towards after Hunting Edge strikes, which is very difficult but may come in handy if it connects anywhere other than the head, but ideally you want to aim it at the head at all times, it makes the setup for the rest of the combo a lot easier.
i would love to see a video done on the Lance, been a lance main since the first game!
Can't wait to get to that one
Amazing look at the history of the weapon! I think GS embodies 'easy to use hard to master'.
I'll add a couple of things:
- The armor from charging attacks protects you from tripping, small flinches and wind pressure up to a point.
Surprisingly this is one of the most balanced weapon, and surprisingly newbie-friendly because it allows a more brute gameplay
Only thing more satisfying is a gravity check from landing a lvl 3 charge on a monster trying to flee. The rush of power you feel from that XD
Ah good info, thank you. I'll update the description at some point
Thanks for listening!
As a Greatsword main since first gen I agree with you, that first silkbind move is just useless.
Dual Blades should be sooner rather than later. Thanks for watching!!
Man the Diablos GS from MHFU is so iconic to me. MHFU was my first game and GS and hammer were my main so checks out
That first clip in the OG desert just filled me with nostalgia. Playing Freedom on my PSP as a kid and not knowing how items work, ending up wasting 20 minutes till i managed to get 3 piscine livers and almost dying of heat stroke durring the process...good times, good times xD
When Giaprey was velociprey white and khezu has teeth in the damm tail.
@@TheDreadlagg lol yeah, still remember cheesing garuga in village quests by doing that one glitch, where you had to wait 15 minutes in that area the veggie elder was and then getting the garuga set way too early in the game xD
@@TheDreadlagg Back when the Khezu never 'saw' you because it was blind so not only did you sometimes not know it was in the area, because it doesn't 'see' you, you couldn't superman dive away from it. Also, the time when hunting alone meant hunting alone, the time before Palicos.
@@Shadowslash1 The Quality of life changes in the newer games are awesome, but there is just something charming...or rather nostalgic about the old games. As clunky as they may be. Recently replayed MH Freedom via a PSP emulator and to this day i can not understand how did i ever found that game fun as a kid xD
Despite that,i still hold it as the best MH game out of them all, just because it introduced me to the franchise and gave me a lot of fun memories about it as well. Like when i was doing my guild urgent quest solo to level up to HR2,doing 2 diablos with only 4 minutes left out of the 50 and then seing that victory screen...priceless.
Sickest thing I've ever seen in MH was some absolute mad lad stunning a charging brachy with a kick.
Watching these videos kinda makes me glad my first game was Tri
I joined the series at 4 Ultimate, and having never played the older games it's wild to see the Great Sword didn't even have charge attacks in the first game, great and informative vid for people like me
Also do Sword and Shield next that is my bread and butter
10:50 I wish!
You still take damage with brimstone, so be careful not to embarrass yourself by carting!
My favorite weapon is Sword & Shield (I've been playing it exclusively across the MH games for a decade now). I'd like to see you cover Sword & Shield next.
So this weapon is basically…
“Gureto Daze”
Aww cute Gabe~
As always my vote is for switch axe but im patient. And i love all the weapons so whatever comes next ill enjoy learning about
Lot of people asking for it, so it should be soon if not next week.
Another banger keep it up SuperRAD you’ll grow bigger in no time
You forgot to mention that Gen 4 onwards the aerial GS slash can be charged, making it much more useful. Thats why the silkbind jump is actually pretty useful.
I appreciate all the research and work you are putting into these videos! Looking forward to the next one 👍👍
My first choice ever! I love this one and I'm so excited to see the Gunlance History video hahaha nice work Rad!
Good choice!
My favorite greatsword style in Gu was alchemy. The double spin was quite nice also barrel.
funniest thing in GS upswing is the pvp hitbox continues on the last few frames where the GS is physically swinging downward :LUL
Did you know the first time we see the GS tackle is in Tri? It replaces the kick underwater
First time youtube recomend me a channel I realy like and enjoy, love the videos, I could sound a little corny but I feel the pasion and hard work you put in your videos, hope you talk about frontier weapons, greetings from Mexico
Thank you for watching, I hope you stick around and check the other vids! :)
@@SuperRADLemon You bet I will, thanks for your hard work and making my day,see you around
GS without charge sounds like absolute heresy to me considering it's basically known for its big boi charged hits
I can't wait to see the Lance video! 😊😊
GS was one of 1st weapons I actually tried to learn when I first started to play MHW. The damage it does makes up for the slower attack speed.
For the next weapon history leason? Either Dual blades or Gunlance maybe? I kinda have a love/hate relationship in World and Rise demo with them so I would really like how they were in older titles.
interesting to hear that you have mixed feelings w/ modern Gunlance considering how jank they were in past gens up until say p3rd
kinda wanna know why tbh
I feel like it's definitely gonna be outshined by other GS silkbind attacks
My main weapon in World and GenUltimate! The animation and feel of the True Charge Slash is what really sold me on the weapon in World. Valor style is my go to for GenUltimate. Just love the hit and run playstyle.
I am considering focusing on other weapons in Rise, but I will always get enjoyment from Greatsword. 😁
Rise is probably the perfect time to try another weapon
back in mhfu landing a lvl3 charge towards a charging tigrex is satisfying as heck 😂
Great vid! I started in 3U as a GS main and skipped straight to world and then rise, so it’s interesting to see how the weapon evolved.
2 small changes that were made from world to rise that weren’t mentioned:
In world, the side blow could only combo into the regular charge slash.
I love this weapon so much to me it is Monster Hunter glad to see it covered.
Thanks!
G R E A T S W O R D
YESSSS thank you I may be a LS main but i never forget the one n only!
It all flows together in a delightful smash, roll, sheath, smash dance that I cannot get enough of.
I would later pick up the lance when teaching a friend how to play in 3U. Just to give me something to learn so he didn't feel carried.
But the Greatsword remains the only weapon I can really use.
Oh btw SuperRAD you can actually play the rise demo offline after February 1st so if you still need to test weapons you’re good to go 👍🏼
Another excellent video. Keep up the good work! History of Dual Blades would be cool.
Noted!
Sword n Shield is in the works, but may not be for a bit. Thank you for watching and supporting the channel!
I Played MHfreedom but never really got into the GS, i only mained SnS and DB, hope you'd cover SnS and DB next.
However when MHFU came with its charge mechanic then thats when I got into GS and mained it.
Great vid, subbed.
Thank you!
Liking for the cats, staying for the actual video and explanation
Pokey stick go brr, brr, brr, nyoooom.
greatsword became my favorite weapon in the game real fast💕 its so satisfying to predict a true charge combo and get a finishing slap on a sleeping monster hhhhhhh
Am I the only one hoping for the MHF only weapons back at some point?
Tonfas could work in mainline MH, but Magnet Spike? Never gonna happen. That weapon was just WAY too stupid, and you'd have to gut it so much for the sake of balance that it would cease to be the Magnet Spike anymore.

Since when could Cephalos actually fly??
Very interesting overview, but man those misses on the Rise demo were hard to watch
No greatsword rivals the comical appearance of the frozen speartuna.
Loving this series so far! Really looking forward to seeing the whole set!
My cat did NOT enjoy those Palico noises at the start 😂
my main
I've been binging all your history videos and gotta say I'm a fan. Do hammer next please 🙏. Or something else.. either way I'll watch
Thanks!
Very good, I m apreachiating your videos more and more, really well detalied and with precise informations, I can see that you really love this saga, so do I.
I think it could be good to see the weapons that are presents in the series from the begnning or almost, for now, maybe sword and shield :)
Iceborne also added the super addictive screen zoom out/zoom in, but it isn’t really in Rise
Great sword become my main weapon since 3 ultimate. Love it !
Oh Great Sword, strong, simple, effective, how I love you so.
I would love to see IG next personally
Great Sword made me buy Monster Hunter Tri, my first MH game.
I read in a magazine a very earnest review of Tri and in the screenshots I could see the GS in action. The review said that the game felt heavy just like the weapons look but that each hit is rewarding and satisfying as the fights are hard. Being a fan of FFVII I thought to myself "why not use the BIG BIG sword and fight dragons?"
I fell in love with the series. I mained GS and Lance in Tri, then HH since 3U.
Damn I never knew great sword didn’t charge until MH dos guess you learn something new about your favorite weapon every day huh?
Valor GS gave it mobility, thus adding it back to my arsenal it felt great to welcome it back aboard:
Main weapons: LS, DB, IG
Side weapons: GS, GL, CB
A few things you missed, two really.
Rise Demo: The silkbind move that puts you into the air gives you an air quick charged slash
I would love to see a history on the Dual Blades, the first weapon to split off from another (In the first gen, it split off from SnS).
Super armor on charged attack started in MHF1. Vespoid can still stun if it procs, but its attack cant stop the charge. Same with some large monster's "step damage. " They cant flinch you out of the charging animation.
However a bullfango does knock you over... As usual.
As a great sword main, this made me happy
It has "great" on its name, you can't go wrong with this weapon
Sword and shield next, please.
We need to talk about Gunlance.
More specifically, we need to talk about the heat gauge from Generations so that the world can know about Capcom's crimes.
Yeah,Finally found video like this
Hey SuperRAD.
Thanks for watching. Welcome to the channel!
Are us, the viewers, supposed to start referring to you as daddy superrad now? 👀
Please do
