Once you think about it those humans were probably seen as something closer to slaves and worshippers than friends by the dragons that "protected" them by keeping them isolated from the rest of the world.
Yes, because let's face it, the original Acnologia was corrupted by what was going on outside the world, but the other dragons has listened to him easily when he told them to kill everyone.
But most dragons which were on the human side are kind, one example is Igneel as mentioned by the 4 other dragons slayers's parents. If they really saw them as slaves and worshippers, they wouldn't have miscalculated that the dragon slayer may turn against them. Because it was mentioned in the dragon King festival, both the anti and pro human sides miscalculated the humans may turn against the dragons. This meant the dragons that were on the human side truly care for them.

I've always wondered why the dragons bothered to block the side effects of dragon slayer magic when Natsu and the others could become powerful dragons. But it seems to me, looking at Irene and Acnologia, that what they sought to prevent was not physical transformation, but psychological transformation. I don't know, it seems to me that dragon slayer magic must provoke some kind of madness in its users. Irene and Acnologia were humans transformed into dragons by abusing dragon slayer magic and both went insane to some extent.
I mean acnologia needed power to kill dragons. Natsu and the lot got sent to a more peaceful time and then turning into dragons and going crazy would get them killed

And her babies father denying their child. Acnologia is such a sad, tragic figure for all his evil. He was so full of rage and vengeance that he couldn't even stop to see there were dragons that genuinely loved and cared about humans. He was empty as a result of his trauma, and basically thought he could fill the void by taking away everything from everyone else around him and making them suffer like he did, growing to enjoy seeing the destruction he caused. In all, the fact of the matter was Acnologia was so depressed, traumatized, angry, and in pain that even though he never admitted it, he wanted to die, but never could bring himself to put his own life to an end and thus kept looking for battles with strong opponents everywhere he went as a means of trying to find someone strong enough to kill him.
Even if not all dragons are evil it is understandable that he thought so. After all, it wasn't random dragons who destroyed his town and killed all the inhabitants. They were dragons he knew and loved.
from acnologias perspective Acnologia(the orignal dragon one) loved and cared for humans as well and that all changed so what's to say the others wouldnt do so as well

Not surprised, because there was a jaguar dragon that was about to leave the Eclipse Gate but the 12 Zodiac sealed it shut and stopped it from entering the present era of Fiore.
Fairy Tail animation and quality have been since the beginning. Don't compare it to other anime with only 12 episodes long while Fairy Tail had over 400 fewer episodes to maximize their budget. 100-year quest is still the same, no longer fight or extend just visualizing of what happened.
Okay, I'd like to just go out on a limb here and assume some serious shit went down when Acnologia(the dragon, not the slayer) went west. When he came back and attacked the village he was beat to hell and even missing part of his face. So I'm assuming he was either attacked by the dragon slayers in Alvarez and was so scared he decided to wipe out the humans he could before they got such power, or that some kind of controlling magic was placed upon him that forced him to do it, he almost looked undead even in most of the shots he was in while attacking.
I thought the same thing. Remember when the underworld king mentioned in the previous are that he used to have “a dragon problem” but he figured out a way to control them 👀. And when u listen to the OG Acnologia talking about how he hates humans I swear to god he sounds just like the underworld king and how he viewed humans. So that’s my theory anyway. So the whole war between humans and dragons (and dragons vs dragons as well) was because the underworld kind started manipulating and controlling dragons. Just a theory but I’d love if someone could give me some feedback.
But what he did was still absurd and stupid. Because it wasn't the humans of that village who attacked and maimed him. And those humans were not strangers. They were people they lived with and knew. And the worst part is that the other dragons, even if they didn't suffer what he did, they listened him easily and killed those people without any hesitation, or remorse.
This is going to be something of a long rant but I honestly subscribe to the theory that what attacked Dragon slayer Analogia's home wasn't the divine guardian who had protected them for years and possibly centuries even. But instead a reanimated corpus. I have seen many people point this out that the dragon Analogia who burned down the village honestly looked undead. Most of his face was just gone with inter chunks of his flesh missing as well, There is no way that he is standing by his own will power alone and on top of that the way he was acting and speaking didn't seem natural either. It sounded kind of robotic, he just states humans are petty and conniving yet doesn't give any exposition to explain why he thinks that, he just says not a single one can be left alive. His voice also sounds like there is just one other presence in there. This led me to believe that their is some bigger master mind behind it all. I believe that when dragon analogia went west to investigate dragon slaying magic he ran into someone who wanted to start a war between both sides. And of course being the "Divine Guardian" he wasn't going to stand by and let innocent lives be destroyed so he fought but was ultimately defeated and killed. However the master mind learned about the existence of Montes Secreta and the peace between humans and dragons. And of course if you want to start a war you can't have pesky things like the idea of peace roaming around, the master mind then promptly resurrects Analogia as a mindless zombie dragon and sends him back to destroy the very idea of coexistence between dragons and humans. And perhaps to make sure the job got done he was sent back with friends who helped to torch everything to the ground and kill any dragon who dared try to see reason, in fact maybe some of the dragons who help to raise Natsu and the others came from here and were in fact some of the only survivors of what was essentially a massacre. Perhaps after undead Analogia's job was done the master mind used him as a scape goat to get the other humans riled up and view dragons as selfish and arrogant. Maybe he used other undead dragons to attack other villages and towns, maybe he even attacked Zeref's home at one point and was inadvertently responsible for the death of his entire family. Maybe there is some far greater evil than the likes of Zeref or Analogia just rumbling around in the background somewhere silently watching, plotting, scheming, waiting for the right moment to strike. Or maybe this is just a crack theory and I'm just crazy, but regardless I believe that no matter what their is more to this story than we know or perhaps will never know. P.S sorry for the long rant I just really needed to get this idea out before I forgot
This backstory added a lot of needed depth to this character. There should have been more but I was glad to rewatch this and it helps explain Acnologia's behavior better near the end of the series.
I think acnologia is a kind of self taughtslayer as there is one in 100yr quest but I do really have a like for him why i dont know i dont think he posessed any threat to humans until he was sealed in time rift he being termed ad a villian dont make sense as there is no need for him to rival against slayers as they are likr him mashima just messed up such apowerful charecter

Then he came across a village that we're feeding their own people to dragon's to save themselves so I say he's anger is completely justified also wouldn't you want to eradicate the dragon's if they killed your family I know I would if I had his power.
Well to be fair the manga had a set amount of chapters left before it had to finish up and that was before the whole Time Rift was a thing. So the manga was rushed incredibly fast.

Acnologia my favorite character from Fairy Tail. He wasnt evil he lost himself with the time. i believe its more intents behind the magic than actual weakness. natsu and the slayers from the modern times had trouble fighting the dragons because their attacks lacked true killing intent, they wanted to beat the dragons, not kill them which decreased the impact of their attacks. Acnologia never makes an attack that lacks true killing intent which is why hes so dangerous

The creator of Fairy Tail didn't really give Acnologia the backstory and defeat he deserved tbh. He could have easily been more than what we got. His backstory could have been explained more thoroughly. I wouldn't have minded because in my opinion he is the most interesting Fairy Tail character. He was hyped up since the very first season of Fairy Tail at the Tenrou Island Arc and even a little before that. The character who sent chill down people's spines just by his name being mentioned was defeated by some power of friendship bs. They truly did him dirty.

if you look at the big picture, Acnologia saved humanity from the oppression of the dragons and made humans the new rulers of the world that can decide their fate with fear towards dragons, you can say that he is a hero for humanity but at the same time a villain, he is a fallen hero who was drank from his power in the end.
It look like to me acnologia was already dead (3:14)and was back to life by magic just to race havoc. Like literally, look how acnologia while attacking the city he was badly injured. I mean the old acnologia.

He was empty as a result of his trauma, and basically thought he could fill the void by taking away everything from everyone else around him and making them suffer like he did, growing to enjoy seeing the destruction he caused. In all, the fact of the matter was Acnologia was so depressed, traumatized, angry, and in pain that even though he never admitted it, he wanted to die, but never could bring himself to put his own life to an end and thus kept looking for battles with strong opponents everywhere he went as a means of trying to find someone strong enough to kill him.
Even if not all dragons are evil it is understandable that he thought so. After all, it wasn't random dragons who destroyed his town and killed all the inhabitants. They were dragons he knew and loved.
from acnologias perspective Acnologia(the orignal dragon one) loved and cared for humans as well and that all changed so what's to say the others wouldnt do so as well

Fairy Tail animation and quality have been since the beginning. Don't compare it to other anime with only 12 episodes long while Fairy Tail had over 400 fewer episodes to maximize their budget. 100-year quest is still the same, no longer fight or extend just visualizing of what happened.
I half-expected Anna and Acnologia knowing each other at some point. Which would make more sense as to why she wanted to stop Acnologia so badly.
Okay, I'd like to just go out on a limb here and assume some serious shit went down when Acnologia(the dragon, not the slayer) went west. When he came back and attacked the village he was beat to hell and even missing part of his face. So I'm assuming he was either attacked by the dragon slayers in Alvarez and was so scared he decided to wipe out the humans he could before they got such power, or that some kind of controlling magic was placed upon him that forced him to do it, he almost looked undead even in most of the shots he was in while attacking.

I thought the same thing. Remember when the underworld king mentioned in the previous are that he used to have “a dragon problem” but he figured out a way to control them 👀. And when u listen to the OG Acnologia talking about how he hates humans I swear to god he sounds just like the underworld king and how he viewed humans. So that’s my theory anyway. So the whole war between humans and dragons (and dragons vs dragons as well) was because the underworld kind started manipulating and controlling dragons. Just a theory but I’d love if someone could give me some feedback.
But what he did was still absurd and stupid. Because it wasn't the humans of that village who attacked and maimed him. And those humans were not strangers. They were people they lived with and knew. And the worst part is that the other dragons, even if they didn't suffer what he did, they listened him easily and killed those people without any hesitation, or remorse.
This is going to be something of a long rant but I honestly subscribe to the theory that what attacked Dragon slayer Analogia's home wasn't the divine guardian who had protected them for years and possibly centuries even. But instead a reanimated corpus. I have seen many people point this out that the dragon Analogia who burned down the village honestly looked undead. Most of his face was just gone with inter chunks of his flesh missing as well, There is no way that he is standing by his own will power alone and on top of that the way he was acting and speaking didn't seem natural either. It sounded kind of robotic, he just states humans are petty and conniving yet doesn't give any exposition to explain why he thinks that, he just says not a single one can be left alive. His voice also sounds like there is just one other presence in there. This led me to believe that their is some bigger master mind behind it all.
I believe that when dragon analogia went west to investigate dragon slaying magic he ran into someone who wanted to start a war between both sides. And of course being the "Divine Guardian" he wasn't going to stand by and let innocent lives be destroyed so he fought but was ultimately defeated and killed. However the master mind learned about the existence of Montes Secreta and the peace between humans and dragons. And of course if you want to start a war you can't have pesky things like the idea of peace roaming around, the master mind then promptly resurrects Analogia as a mindless zombie dragon and sends him back to destroy the very idea of coexistence between dragons and humans. And perhaps to make sure the job got done he was sent back with friends who helped to torch everything to the ground and kill any dragon who dared try to see reason, in fact maybe some of the dragons who help to raise Natsu and the others came from here and were in fact some of the only survivors of what was essentially a massacre.
Perhaps after undead Analogia's job was done the master mind used him as a scape goat to get the other humans riled up and view dragons as selfish and arrogant. Maybe he used other undead dragons to attack other villages and towns, maybe he even attacked Zeref's home at one point and was inadvertently responsible for the death of his entire family.
Maybe there is some far greater evil than the likes of Zeref or Analogia just rumbling around in the background somewhere silently watching, plotting, scheming, waiting for the right moment to strike.
Or maybe this is just a crack theory and I'm just crazy, but regardless I believe that no matter what their is more to this story than we know or perhaps will never know.
P.S sorry for the long rant I just really needed to get this idea out before I forgot

This backstory added a lot of needed depth to this character. There should have been more but I was glad to rewatch this and it helps explain Acnologia's behavior better near the end of the series.
I'm glad I just watched the final season. Cause boy the last arc of the manga was crap. The anime actually fleshed out Acnologia really well.

i believe its more intents behind the magic than actual weakness. natsu and the slayers from the modern times had trouble fighting the dragons because their attacks lacked true killing intent, they wanted to beat the dragons, not kill them which decreased the impact of their attacks. Acnologia never makes an attack that lacks true killing intent which is why hes so dangerous

The creator of Fairy Tail didn't really give Acnologia the backstory and defeat he deserved tbh.
He could have easily been more than what we got. His backstory could have been explained more thoroughly. I wouldn't have minded because in my opinion he is the most interesting Fairy Tail character. He was hyped up since the very first season of Fairy Tail at the Tenrou Island Arc and even a little before that.
