They did some things to correct this situation. For example, they established Ottoman armies similar to the German and British armies. But reactionary people got angry at this. Because of these, they accused the sultan of destroying Islam and made riots. The Janissary House was doing all of these revolts. After Mahmud II came to the throne, he had all the janissaries killed and closed the janissary chamber. Mahmud II thought that the Ottoman Empire should be a modern country. For this reason, he prohibited traditional clothes such as turbans, gowns and big hats, and instead required fez and suits, which he thought were more modern. (Sorry for my bad English. The main reason for the large size of the turban on the head of the Sultans is that it was used to shroud the body of the Sultan after his death and it is called "ka'afen" in Iraq 🇮🇶♥️🇹🇷
I am not Turk or Greek, my favorite sultan Mehmed II because he respected the city and also the Orthodox patriarchy. Also called his empire Roman. If Ottomans had continued this tradition, being a Roman empire first, religion second, which changed to religion first and Roman second until the latter was forgotten too, they would have my support to the mantle of all former Roman territories.
religion was a driving force for the masses back at time, like it is right now. So for an empire it is hard to do such big changes imo. Especially when your founder people is muslim and people at that time was mostly religious zealots basically :D.
@Mehmet anıl Roman Empire wasn't Christian originally, it could be Roman, law and such first as Mehmet II envisioned, but later Sultans would take Ottoman Empire in a different direction, both figuratively and literally. Literally, as to the east, while Mehmet II wanted to go west.

I'm an Indonesian from Sumatera Island. We still remember Ottoman sent help to the Aceh Sultanate. They sent soldiers and engineers to taught us to make cannons and muskets to fight the Portuguese in Malacca. Many sultanates in Malay Achipelagos had strong relation with Ottoman in 16th century.

Sultan Mehmed ll is my most favourite sultan and most probably he is the most successful Ottoman sultan. He conquered Constantinople at the age of only 21. That carries a great message to our young generation. Men at the age of 21, Then (1453) : conquered an empire and strengthen his country as well as the whole ummah. Now: running after a girl.
bayezid was also really succesfull he conqured s many territory in such a short time that the people would call him"yildirim bayezid" it means lightning bayezid

i wanna give you a little info about it: Mehmed II became a sultan (for the first time) when he was 12 and that long for 2 years. Later he became a sultan again when he's 20. And when he's 21 he conquered the Constantinople (Istanbul).

@@Hunter-e7e The 1683 decline is a outdated view already,the grand viziers were competent like the likes of the koprulu family of whome was de facto ruler during the reign of weak sultans such as Ibrahim I.It was agreed upon by historians that the Ottomans were struggling to keep up with the industrial revolution in the 1750s and was exarcebatedly hampered after the treaty of kucuk kaynarca in 1774.Sultan Mustafa III was the first to realise the Ottoman's precarious position due to outdated military technologies and tactics and cannot afford to solely depend on manpower as the centuries but thru firepower which is acheived thru industrial prowess and might.The more accurate view was the decline starts in 1783 where it exposed the internal weakness of the Ottoman army and the subsequent war against russia in 1787 proves that. Mahmud II did it in 1828 but it was a tad too late already by that time other european states had industrialised by some degree and ongoing conflicts especially with Russia greatly reduced it's effectiveness as a whole but it was successful in creating a centralised goverment which was essential in delaying the empire's demise by almost a century.It did put up a good fight in the end.

On the maps, Egypt seems to be lost during the reign of Abdulaziz, but it was lost during the reign of Abdulhamid II to the British Empire. There are some mistakes, too, about the maps. And when the monarchy was abolished in 1922, the Ottoman Empire still held territory unlike it is shown on the map under Mehmed VI (it wasn't independent, but still officially had territory)

I found out recently that the descendant of the Ottoman Sultans' still exist and used to be banned until recently from Türkiye. Why was that the case and why has the ban been lifted?
After World War I, the Ottomans signed the Armistice of Mudros. As a result of this agreement, the Turkish army was demobilized and all of the country's communications were seized. In addition, the Ottoman government was put under pressure. Articles 7 and 24 of Mudros were very harsh. According to Article 7: The Allied Powers would occupy strategic areas when they had security concerns. According to Article 24, the Province of Sitte (Elazığ, Erzurum, Van, Diyarbakır, Sivas, Bitlis) would be occupied in the event of unrest. It was an article to establish an Armenian State in the region. The Turkish people fought a national struggle despite all the poverty and hardship. Nene Hatun, Kara Fatma, Seyit Onbaşı, Sütçü İmam, Hasan Tahsin,There are many heroes like Kazım Karabekir, İsmet İnönü, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Rauf Orbay, 15'liler, I suggest you research them. This new government established a new regime and a new country. The revolutionary leader Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk had a great influence on this. Revolutions towards the West were carried out in the newly established state. The sultanate was of course abolished. They did some things to correct this situation. For example, they established Ottoman armies similar to the German and British armies. But reactionary people got angry at this. Because of these, they accused the sultan of destroying Islam and made riots. The Janissary House was doing all of these revolts. After Mahmud II came to the throne, he had all the janissaries killed and closed the janissary chamber. Mahmud II thought that the Ottoman Empire should be a modern country. For this reason, he prohibited traditional clothes such as turbans, gowns and big hats, and instead required fez and suits, which he thought were more modern. (Sorry for my bad English. The main reason for the large size of the turban on the head of the Sultans is that it was used to shroud the body of the Sultan after his death and it is called "ka'afen" in Iraq 🇮🇶♥️🇹🇷

I am not Turk or Greek, my favorite sultan Mehmed II because he respected the city and also the Orthodox patriarchy. Also called his empire Roman. If Ottomans had continued this tradition, being a Roman empire first, religion second, which changed to religion first and Roman second until the latter was forgotten too, they would have my support to the mantle of all former Roman territories.
religion was a driving force for the masses back at time, like it is right now. So for an empire it is hard to do such big changes imo. Especially when your founder people is muslim and people at that time was mostly religious zealots basically :D.

@Mehmet anıl Roman Empire wasn't Christian originally, it could be Roman, law and such first as Mehmet II envisioned, but later Sultans would take Ottoman Empire in a different direction, both figuratively and literally. Literally, as to the east, while Mehmet II wanted to go west.

Sultan Mehmed ll is my most favourite sultan and most probably he is the most successful Ottoman sultan. He conquered Constantinople at the age of only 21. That carries a great message to our young generation.

i wanna give you a little info about it: Mehmed II became a sultan (for the first time) when he was 12 and that long for 2 years. Later he became a sultan again when he's 20. And when he's 21 he conquered the Constantinople (Istanbul).

suleiman the magnificent was the best of the entire empires history, and his sultana named ‘roxelana’ (hürrem sultan) was incredible as well. their story was very interesting and quite admirable i would recommend checking it out. honestly a good rule together

Mahmud II did it in 1828 but it was a tad too late already by that time other european states had industrialised by some degree and ongoing conflicts especially with Russia greatly reduced it's effectiveness as a whole but it was successful in creating a centralised goverment which was essential in delaying the empire's demise by almost a century.It did put up a good fight in the end.

On the maps, Egypt seems to be lost during the reign of Abdulaziz, but it was lost during the reign of Abdulhamid II to the British Empire. There are some mistakes, too, about the maps. And when the monarchy was abolished in 1922, the Ottoman Empire still held territory unlike it is shown on the map under Mehmed VI (it wasn't independent, but still officially had territory)

I found out recently that the descendant of the Ottoman Sultans' still exist and used to be banned until recently from Türkiye. Why was that the case and why has the ban been lifted?
They were banned due to Attaturk cause he was a secular
and now allowed due to Erdogan cause he is a Muslim
After World War I, the Ottomans signed the Armistice of Mudros. As a result of this agreement, the Turkish army was demobilized and all of the country's communications were seized. In addition, the Ottoman government was put under pressure. Articles 7 and 24 of Mudros were very harsh. According to Article 7: The Allied Powers would occupy strategic areas when they had security concerns. According to Article 24, the Province of Sitte (Elazığ, Erzurum, Van, Diyarbakır, Sivas, Bitlis) would be occupied in the event of unrest. It was an article to establish an Armenian State in the region.
The Turkish people fought a national struggle despite all the poverty and hardship.
