Fun fact-during the Irish Famine, Abdulmejid I tried to donated £10,000 (£84,000 pounds today) to help the victims, but he was prevented from doing so by the British government because they didn't want him to donate more money than Queen Victoria did, so instead Abdulmejid donated £1000 plus 3-5 ships full of food.

Thanks. I purchased this chart some months ago and enjoy referencing it. I believe the narration of this video however could be improved. Notably, important Sultans were glossed over, and some, not mentioned at all, such as Sultan Abdul Hamid II. There’s also a number of inaccuracies I believe, including attributing the correct titles to the Sultans, such as referencing Osman as Gazi instead of Bey. Finally, while the names are Arabic, I believe they should’ve been pronounced in Turkish, which is not difficult to do even for an Arabic speaker.

Timur lanatullah alayhim. Evil man he was. He killed many people! He is partially the reason why Iran is Shi'a! Because population became very little after Timur slaughtering Iranians and then Safavi took advantage of this.
Timur didn't even want to go to war with Bayezid the thunderbolt. He told Timur to "know his place". Bayezid then trash talked and told Timur that his wives were whores. That's basically what riled Timur up and eventually led to the infamous battle of Ankara.

@reemJE Most of the christian western names are coming from hebrew. So are they supposed to be pronounced like hebrew?
@@Ozgur72 bad analogy, Western names have been altered for many centuries into many different European languages while Arabic names have retained their actual original meaning and pronunciation up to this day and plus its more than just languages it's about religion and culture
Unstoppable Resistance please learn that Turkish language is a different language, it comes from Turkic ancestry, it has a different grammar, different vocabulary, different language family than Arabic,so we can’t pronounce these names the same as Arabs. Please be respectful to our language, culture, and ethnicity and if you want to talk about beautiful Turkish language, you should do your research and learn something about it.
Great narrating, like to hear more of this guy and Jack on the channel. As well as you of course Matt.
I agree. I enjoy his narration. I will be going over to his channel.
Thank you!
Awesome work and presentation! Just one thing struck me. It would have been better if you had pronounced the names of the last period sultans and especially the name of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in Turkish rather than Arabic. Although the names are of Arabic origin, these people called in Turkish. By the way your pronunciation in Arabic is just incredible. Keep up these good videos!
NOT ONLY the names of the last period!!! These were all Turks!

My beloved brother, say Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam whenever you mention the name of the Messenger of Allah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam.

Finally, while the names are Arabic, I believe they should’ve been pronounced in Turkish, which is not difficult to do even for an Arabic speaker.
exactly. That Arabic pronunciation is extremely distracting. This was a Turkish empire. He should just have pronounced the names in English. Even that is closer to the Turkish pronunciation
I might be the descendent of Suleyman the Magnificent because his granddaughter Ayse Humasah Sultan maried Ali-paša Semiz who was the first ancestor of my mothers side of the family who died in 1565. Semiz means fat in turkish because he was fat. He was originaly from Prača in Bosnia.
So what? No one cares about Suleyman the Magnificent in this time and age 😂 He’s not important nor the Ottoman Empire. Open your eyes. Do you see people bragging about being descended from Suleyman the “Long gone”?

3:17 Amir Temur! Not Timur the Lame or Timur the Jerk as you say in your channel!! Have respect to my ancestor
Timur lanatullah alayhim. Evil man he was. He killed many people! He is partially the reason why Iran is Shi'a! Because population became very little after Timur slaughtering Iranians and then Safavi took advantage of this.
Timur massacred millions of Muslims how can you say that
🇹🇷❤🇺🇿☝☝
Timur ”The Jerk”.
Mean but fair.
Terrible...
But great...
He was pretty lame though...
Timur didn't even want to go to war with Bayezid the thunderbolt. He told Timur to "know his place". Bayezid then trash talked and told Timur that his wives were whores.
That's basically what riled Timur up and eventually led to the infamous battle of Ankara.
Star Star Saying this in Afghanistan will cause a lot of problems
@Vienna He was a tyrant person he wasnt even the official king of Persia but he controlled persian army and had a large autonomy in persia cuz ofc he controlled the army he for some reason even tho he is a turkish nationalist he attacked bayezid the thunderbolt and collapsed the ottoman empire and was careless what would happen to the turkish empire which i think is not nationalist thats why turks hate him alot but even tho he was tyrant and fought his own ethnic and religion which is pretty unpopular and a bad thing back then those days he respected Bayezid the Thunderbolt even tho they were big rivals he didnt shame or disrespect his name
Excellent research & explained soooooo well ! Thank You !

Dear narrator, we don't have guttural pronunciation in Turkish you were supposed to pronounce them plain and soft, I couldn't even make it to the end of the video, it was so irritating.

Why are you pronouncing sultans name with an arabic accent? They are not arabs they are turks. I wish someone who knows turks and turkish prepared this video:/ this is so amateurish
are u serious? turkic language as such was never adopted by the ottoman court it was officially arabic mixed with persian and a slight turkic influence so his pronounciations are correct

Great information. I always wanted to know.
Al-Muqaddimah made a mistake when he said the Empire grew to its largest extent under Murad III. That is false, as the Empire grew to its largest extent under Mehmed IV. Although during Murad's time, the Empire grew to its largest extent in the Middle-East itself, which is what he probably meant, and not overall size.
Very clear info, nice.
Can you do the family trees of the various balkan kingdoms

*Great chart..I see there are a few corrections to be made per the comments...The computer generated narrator is mis-pronouncing many words, confusing the story, and misleading. The "Resurrection: Eretgrul" series is fabulous, the only way I knew the correct pronunciations of the names. To hear the actors pronounce the language was a great tutorial on learning the Turkik language...Thank You for this!

Sultan Murad IV was famous for his anger he would go onto the street in disguise and personally kill someone if they did something againts the law.
Scribers mention him killing a Janissary just because he wore his hat the wrong angle.
As for the being controled by his Mother thing yes She did act on his behalf even after when he was of age but after some time he and Kosem fell out and She lost much of her power. If Murat wouldnt have died so young he would have banish her to a another city away from the court.

It's funny how we call them 'Sultans' now. But in reality they used to call themselves Shah or Khan.Just look at their Tughras. e.g. Sultan Süleyman called himself Süleymān-şāh b. Selīm-şāh Ḫān el-muẓaffer dāʾimā, which roughly translates to 'Suleyman Shah, son of Selim Shah the always victorious Khan'.
And I kinda think thats a bit sad, cause it's changing the ottoman heritage of persian/turkic to a more arabic one.
jhon carry oh ffs shut up

So the Ottomans would therefore be an extension of a previous Turkish dynasty, that of the Seljuks.
Y'all crying about Timur, but don't judge him like that, many rulers were like that.
You don't like him because he is Turkic asian, arabs don't like him because he crushed them and westerners are scared of him because he used them as toilet paper.
