This game is still the greatest Mario sports game ever. Crazy amounts of depth to the gameplay and an amazing roster make it infinitely repayable. I’d want a sequel that keeps a lot of the gameplay the same with more baseball features included, but I don’t trust Nintendo to make a game of the same quality nowadays. The roster would be uninspired and they’d shoehorn in some new gimmick for the marketing.

Surprised that "Dark Bones" (AKA Red Dry Bones in MSB) wasn't mentioned here, as it's one of the most weirdest variations of an enemy I've ever seen. Not only does it have a, honestly, pretty cool and edgy design, but also, it has only ever appeared in the baseball games, and no other spin off games. It even shares its name with another Dry Bones variation, also called Dark Bones, in PM games.
Fun fact about the statement on 8:08 because I once had a 3 way tie for MVP (DK, Funky & Tiny all got 90 points) and only DK and Funky were in the front while Tiny was in the middle of the back row. So the game can only have 2 characters front & center in a tie

I got a ground rule double in DK Stadium, by using Mario's star swing and as the ball hit the tree in the left outfield, it goes skyhigh and I think I was lucky for it to go into the stands. This has only happen to me once, but I need to see if someone else can do it.
Bowser's voice is the exact same as the one from Superstar Baseball just pitched down so that he sounds more like he does in more recent games Now you'll never be able to unhear it
7:19 different color Birdos aren't playable because there are 41 playable characters, but only 40 slots on the player select screen. Whenever on the character select screen one of the selected captains is not on screen. Yoshi will always appear though because he has multiple alts. So if Yoshi and Birdo both had alts there wouldn't be enough room for all the characters on the screen if both were chosen as captain.
6:04 There is another way to get a homerun not over the fence. Dk Jungle you can hit the outer sides of the stone pillars on the foul side and it can count it as a homerun. Two weeks ago I've gotten a homerun with King Boo and I was legitimately shocked.
This happened to my friend and I last night TWICE! Once here at DK jungle as you said, and the second was when this same also happened at Mario Stadium.
The reason I think for colored birdos not being playable is that there would be issues on the character select screen if the matchup was yoshi vs birdo. If you haven’t noticed luigi doesn’t actually have a spot on the css and will go where one of the captains was if he was not chosen
I’ve been playing this game for over a decade and I’m still learning new stuff. After watching Chiz’s video last week, I learned that all captains on your team (except the one chosen as your team captain) cost 2 stars for a star swing/pitch, rather than just 1
yeah i was surprised you said that. DK for me has always been one of, if not the easiest star swing to catch in the game. I once tried it three times in a row, it got caught all three times in the infield, and since then I've stopped using DK.
Funny story, I actually got a ground rule double happen in DK Jungle on one of my playthroughs. The CPU team hit it into the outfield and I tried attacking the ball. But, since nobody was around, the attack launched the ball into the outside area. I remember that it was in the left-middle area of the outfield where the tree was. Unfortunately, I was 10 so I couldn't record it.
This happened to me before too, the tree can make the ball go really high for some reason. I tried to do a buddy throw but the tree interfered and gave the opposing team a Ground rule double.

I feel like objectively if you want to play more of a regular, competitive baseball game, play superstar. If you’re looking more for fun and “mario-y” baseball game, sluggers is it.
This series was one that my brother and I loved to play together since he liked baseball and I liked playing sports games. We have more complaints about sluggers than superstar and agree with what you said here. The two things that made us drop sluggers was the camera angles and the motion controls. We weren't even the type of people to immediately hate on motion controls but it gets obnoxious when you use it to run and bat.
The unused song feels like a song for bowser Jr or Wario. Wario is in a city so jazz would make sense OR bowser Jr who shockingly normally is a jazz music (look at his hoops on ds and sports mix on Wii)
I remember once I was playing against my brother or my dad and one of use hit the ball into one of the yoshi park train carriages and both of us were very confused

If Nintendo makes a new installment in the Mario baseball series I think everyone would love to hear the unused song for maybe a Waluigi Stadium. It could be based off of Waluigi pinball with Giant pin balls rolling across the outfield and maybe even some bombs launched by Pinball bumpers.

These unlisted maps include: Yoshi’s Park: If you hit the ball with a strong character, there is a chance that it will hit the wall, and fall into the Yoshi train. Bowser Junior’s Playroom: If you hit the ball far enough to hit and destroy the stone thwomps on the home-run wall, it has a chance to destroy the thwomp, but fall into the home-run area, and count as a Ground Rule Double. Peach’s Ice Garden: All you need do here, is the hit the ball all the way near the wall, and have it bounce over the wall. DK Jungle: I believe you can get a Ground Rule Double on this map, if it either bounces into the home-run area, or it’s the wall and falls in. Theoretically, I believe it’s possible to get a Ground Rule Double on Bowser’s Castle, if the ball hits the bomb-omb king flying around in the air. So this means, the only map it is theoretically not possible to hit a Ground Rule Double on, is Luigi’s Mansion. Also, something else cool to mention, is the fact that Bowser and Bowser Junior don’t have chemistry with Yellow or Green Mii, but instead they have chemistry with Black Mii. Just wanted to comment on that.

Serious question, do running skills actually do anything? As far as I'm aware, all they do is give different animations for the close plays, which is actually detrimental when it comes to Boo's and King Boo's teleport actually not knocking away the fielder
Yes, they give you two chances for the close plays instead of penalizing you if you press the wrong button. It’s basically a guaranteed close play victory.

Any time I used someone with one, it looked like it just gave them a different animation and nothing more. That's actually pretty good.
What’s the music you use at 11:48 Also when you unlock funky kong in story mode. There is a glitch where the audio for unlocking a character doesn’t start for a second and then does. This doesn’t happen to any other character you unlock.
So one day me and my brother were playing sluggers and he used DK’s starswing, I realy don’t how to counter it so I dove at it with kritter and it had him get the ball and be stunned like the clip shows. We were both in shock about it thought it was interesting.

5:55 u say the landing the ball inside the train is the only way to get a homerun without it going outiside the park but I was playing agaisnt my brother on time and he got run over by the train so much I got an inside the park homerun, so inside the park homeruns are also possible
There are definitely a lot more Wii games which never got a European release, like Dragon Quest X, the Backyard Football games, and the Bass Pro Shop games.

Serious question, do running skills actually do anything? As far as I'm aware, all they do is give different animations for the close plays, which is actually detrimental when it comes to Boo's and King Boo's teleport actually not knocking away the fielder
Yes, they give you two chances for the close plays instead of penalizing you if you press the wrong button. It’s basically a guaranteed close play victory.
@@MarioSluggersFanclub oh seriously? I never knew that. Back when I played this, I never really had trouble with the close plays, so I always wondered what the big deal was about the running skills. Any time I used someone with one, it looked like it just gave them a different animation and nothing more. That's actually pretty good.

Also when you unlock funky kong in story mode. There is a glitch where the audio for unlocking a character doesn’t start for a second and then does. This doesn’t happen to any other character you unlock.

So one day me and my brother were playing sluggers and he used DK’s starswing, I realy don’t how to counter it so I dove at it with kritter and it had him get the ball and be stunned like the clip shows.
We were both in shock about it thought it was interesting.

My guess on the unused song is that it was probably for a waluigi or birdo stadium.
that makes a lot of senses considering that this is a baseball game and that there was never an Europe or Australian release because Baseball is not Popular in either Europe or Australia instead Britain Has Cricket which is popular in Europe.
5:55 u say the landing the ball inside the train is the only way to get a homerun without it going outiside the park but I was playing agaisnt my brother on time and he got run over by the train so much I got an inside the park homerun, so inside the park homeruns are also possible
