In Glasgow black cabs were manual, both FX4s/Fairways and Metrocabs. The city is built on 11 hills and there are some very steep streets, the steepest being Gardner Street in Partickm where Albion Motors used to test bus and truck chassis.
Had an 02 reg TX2 bought in 2005 which covered 524,000 miles until it was scrapped in 2018 but in 2020 I decided to buy another TX2 this one is a 53 reg with much lower milage only 292,000
@@klassicgarage They certainly are! I have only driven a fairway a handful of times I never really got on with the driving position of a fairway, Might just be me but I always felt really close to the windscreen and would find the top of the windscreen would be eye level for me however in the TX series this was rectified and I absolutely love driving them I can no longer get on with driving a car after driving a taxi lol
The top light turns off when you press the hired button on the meter, you are breaking the law by having that meter in the car when they are sold to a private individual the car has to be de commissioned meter removed.
@@tutsywutsy did you know they've taken the word gullible out the dictionary? Where's the link to the law that says I can't carry a disconnected taxi meter in my car? How do the manufacturers deliver them? Do they have to register the DHL van as a taxi first before they can carry them?

Those new cabs are hybrid's as they have a petrol engine fitted to them.
What's the insurance and tax on one of them thinking of getting one always loved those
Classic insurance is very reasonable but newer shape gets expensive with tax being around £600 on them!
@@klassicgarage what do u mean by newer shape? TX series?
There are VERY "saucy" videos of UK cabs out there...
Fake taxi..😂
