New subscriber! I love meal prepping and decided it would be a staple of my life if i ever do long term car life. That's the main thing i missed on my 7 week car camping trip. Saves SO MUCH MONEY!
After cooking your meals, it is a good idea to let them cool off for about 20 minutes before refrigerating them. It will keep your energy usage down a bit, and not warm up anything else in the fridge. That’s what restaurants do when they cook large batches of food as well.
Another meal prep option you may consider is soup. You control the ingredients and it’s so easy to warm up when you’ve had a long day and you just want something warm for dinner.
Unless you are working for a living, i don’t want soup I need carbs and protein. I also like lifting moving heavy metals from time to time. So I definitely need a steak now and again everyday.
For more protein, you can put cheaper cuts of meat into a soup and do pretty well. In the cooler months, a hot soup with the veggies and proteins plus the spices you love... that's a great way to eat healthfully and on a budget without sacrificing a thing. You can supplement a soup with some healthy oils, to get the flavor and fat content up a bit, too. If you have toasted sesame oil (toasted is key, non-toasted is not at all the same), you can kick the flavor up two notches easily, especially any asian cuisine style soups. Good luck!

Not sure of your electrical situation in the van, but, one of my favorite cooking methods is a crock pot (for hours long, slow and low heat cooking - stews and soups) and the InstantPot (which is a glorified pressure cooker.) Toss ingredients into either, securely cover, set the temperature and forget about it for hours or minutes, respectively. One pot to cook in, store, reheat and wash. They're so easy to use, you can cook twice a week or even every day if you like, depending on what you crave that day. And both methods' prep time involves opening precut bags and dumping the food into the pot.

I was thinking you can't really go wrong with potatoes but if I might just reccommend something maybe get a pot and just boil the potatoes. You can put in your garlic as well. But you can do a lot with pre boiled potatoes. Once they are cooked you can later eat them as is or cut them up and fry them or mash them. Just a great way to pre cook the potatoes for the week. Maybe also get a nice cutting board and spend a little time before you cook cutting the meat and veg.

Sure it's a thing. Fires burn because the fallen leaves are dry and easily catch and the wind carries hot embers through the air. Without the roots of grass and trees being moist from damp soil, fires can even burn underground- and travel underground, undetected. The northeast USA has been experiencing drought conditions since August.
Yea it should not be over said about the drought we’re going through. I’m not sure why you don’t just get a nice gas burner in your van “maybe you do, but have not seen”. All the prices are going sky high, some items are cheaper at regular stores. Crazy back to looking at the circulars and budget list.
We love yuh Matt.
great video! You should look into a dual cooker camping propane cooktop that fold away? waaay better than that log and the chemicals they use in them! Stay safe
Dang sorry u have to leave without being done.. wash your veggies ! Including potatoes , without details lots of unwanted things u shouldnt digest … Be Safe my friend
A) don't put onions in your cooler. Bacteria forms. B) don't heat bee pollen, it kills all the good stuff in it
Noted - thanks
Aldi is a way better choice. They are a German company that subscribes to European food standards. No additives, preservatives, etc. They are all I use.
I just discovered your channel recently. Fun stuff!
I make up expressions and words all the time, anything I can imaginify. 🎉🎉
Fleece out….
DUDE, YOU MUST STOP COOKING WITH DURAFLAME LOGS. GET WOOD OR CHARCOAL FOR COOKING.
"Busted! Cop Shut Down My Meal Prep!"- a video by 'Under The Radar' stealth camper.
Something in my brain is going "pop, pop, pop, sizzle".
Muck boots are endorsed by the Amish!
You should go to super88 market and buy instant cooking paste like curry. Just add meat to it and you’ll have instant meal. No more chopping 😅. Just a suggestion.
Good idea!
Aldis all over have raised their prices.
yeah hoping its just seasonal
cool ministry hoodie
I have one from almost every tour!
Van life in New England! Yikes! i subscribed
Aldi is great if you buy organic.
That food is looking good
It’s delicious
George Foreman grills work great. I use mine most of the time instead of charcoal or propane. Also I never wash it so it flavors the food like a traditional grill.
Thanks!
Matt!! I started following you at 2K look at you!!!!
The fat is very good for you on the mistake. We need fat. I am strictly carnivore all my labs have gotten so much better and my auto immune issues have diminished. I feel the best I have felt in decades. That looks like an amazing meal.
I ate it! Thanks! It was all delicious!
At 11:35, well, nothing like a cop to ruin your nice peaceful outdoor cooking day. What a bummer,, and the food was almost done. Wish I could have been a fly on the tree for that one.. Well, supposed to rain for the next three days,, so hopefully the ban will be lifted.
Yeah told the cop they should have put up a sign not to use the grills he said they “didn’t have the manpower”
@@undertheradarvan So according to google, Dalton Police Department has 89 sworn officers and 12 civilian support staff. and 6000 population,, to me thats a lot of police for such a small town. Oh well,.
A fire ban in the winter? Is that a thing?
Sure it's a thing. Fires burn because the fallen leaves are dry and easily catch and the wind carries hot embers through the air. Without the roots of grass and trees being moist from damp soil, fires can even burn underground- and travel underground, undetected.
The northeast USA has been experiencing drought conditions since August.
What does your sweatshirt Ministry mean?
It's a rock band from Chicago
@undertheradarvan thanks for letting me know, cheers!
Yea it should not be over said about the drought we’re going through. I’m not sure why you don’t just get a nice gas burner in your van “maybe you do, but have not seen”. Or like foresty does with a crockpot/airfryer. I have to say if you had the battery power to run your cp while at work you would come home to some tasty hot meals.
I invest more on meat than on veggies. Id rather eat meat then veggies, especially if the meat is cheaper when it shouldnt be.
Yeah I'd rather do carnivore with one meal a day (1lb of meat)if I'm living in a vehicle. Simple, done and not hungry for the day. It would drive me nuts having to tend 3 different cooking sources to get a meal done
You should make a rocket stove 🔥 🥘 😋
If you think vegetables are expensive now, just wait til there is no one left to pick them. Or the tariffs are in effect to import from outside
