Another meal prep option you may consider is soup. You control the ingredients and it’s so easy to warm up when you’ve had a long day and you just want something warm for dinner.
Dollar General and Family Dollar sell small bags of charcoal, but it's pricey. Bummer about the fire ban, but you recalibrated and made the best of it. Bravo! 👏
Very educational videos. I learned from another vanner in Newfoundland that it's way cheaper to buy refillable green propane tanks. It costs between $1-$2 to refill as opposed to $9 for a new one each time. Keep those videos coming, love 'em!
“Country Boy Clothes!” 🤠 I love it! We know how you meant it. You’re so kind. You just reminded me I’ve always wanted those boots! May have to just go ahead & get them this season. It’s nice seeing the waterfall from childhood w/such great memories, I bet?! Does it make you feel nostalgic at all? Your mom is probably a hoot just like yourself. ☺️ Great video as always! Thank you!
New viewer. Your a nice guy. 3 quick rules/tips: 1. Bee pollen is not to be cooked. You’ve ruined it. Put it in yogurt, cereal or salad. 2. more efficient to boil water and cook the potatoes most of the way then drain and add to skillet to finish. Saves a lot of fuel. 3. Get the skillet sizzling hot before you throw the steak or meat in to get a sear
I wouldn’t sweat it too much, you didn’t know. MA fire ban (outdoor flames) until Jan 15th as of today. Looks like we have some rain coming though Thur and Fri.
Trim off the bottom two+ inches (mostly whiteish part) of the asparagus. Then place in some water to par boil for several minutes. Then drizzle a little olive oil to finish it off to a slight browning. Sprinkle with salt (or sea salt) and voila! Perfect texture and flavor!
Small Grilled cheese machine could change your world- any jackery can run it etc...any kind of grilled cheese- dipping sauce - then clean and cook cookies - or brownies- or add muffins to week prep! Good Luck!
Hey Matt, I'm looking to buy a Magma propane kettle grill that uses the same green propane tanks. Its a stainless steel marine grill that's small and made of high quality stainless steel made to be around moisture and water. The propane attachment can be replaced to fit larger propane tanks if needed in the future. Im not 100% sure it can be used in a fire ban but it's the best thing ive found while looking for a portable grill to keep in my truck. Im not affiliated with magma, I just wanted to share an option that may fit van life. Take care
Have you considered substituting plant-based protein for meat maybe every other day? A hearty lentil soup or stew or a scrambled tofu breakfast burrito have as much protein as those pork cutlets and will save you a bundle! Time to head to the desert Southwest for the winter?!
Yea it should not be over said about the drought we’re going through. I’m not sure why you don’t just get a nice gas burner in your van “maybe you do, but have not seen”. Or like foresty does with a crockpot/airfryer. I have to say if you had the battery power to run your cp while at work you would come home to some tasty hot meals.
I wouldn't have thought using a grill would be a problem since everything is contained. Although there have been a lot of brush fires even with burn bans and fire warnings.
great video! You should look into a dual cooker camping propane cooktop that fold away? waaay better than that log and the chemicals they use in them! Stay safe
there is not one spot in Berkshire county you can use a grille/BBQ.....have an outside fire.....you cannot use a portable stove......no open flames outdoors right now......... My suggestion would be to find a remote area away from everyone if you plan to do any outside cooking at all !!! .......... Im surprised they allow people to flick a Bic...or even smoke outside right now........ Hikers on the Appalachian Trail are not allowed to even use Lp/butane stoves at this time passing thru Ny/Ma/Vt. with the fire/open flame bans in effect.....even that sterno is not permitted outside at this time
Why do they have a grill out there in the public when it is not for public use? That appears kinda stupid. Also cop is just a stupid man. What an asshole, why would he care. There is even a public grill and he says that it isn't lol, what a jerk. He has some power complex probably going on.
Man, that's silly, you're cooking on a park grill next to a body of water. The risk of fire is pretty low. Half the time places like that will ban things that are fun, like fires and alcohol so people won't get drunk and party at the parks when school is in session. How would you know if there are no signs.

Great idea, I love broccoli cheddar soup. Yum 😋
Excellent suggestion!

I heard yesterday the 1lb cans are being phased out & only the refillable canisters will be legal.
What a ride! Another fun one, matt. Enjoy your stay in the woods!

All of New England area is in a severe drought- fires are a problem.

Easy on the bee pollen. It's very concentrated. Especially if you have flower allergies

Yep, red flag now. Major fires in Lynn recently.

I'm surprised the Park officials didn't post a notice at the entrance indicating the fire ban. It's not rocket surgery.
I don't think whole onions should be refrigerated, it makes them soft and spoil faster.
You're doing GREAT! Live & Learn!

You can heat frozen apps in it - cook eggs- dumplings - on and on! Hot food on the go!

We love yuh Matt.
All the prices are going sky high, some items are cheaper at regular stores. Crazy back to looking at the circulars and budget list.
let the food cool down before you put it into the fridge, or freezer.
Also stop chopping in your pans, you are slicing into the coating layer
And rinse your rice
@@bov5020 pans dooon t like that!! ;)
Are you guys being the "bossy wife" telling him what to do? Hahaha 🤣 jk all true comments.

Also it is compassionate.
I love both tofu and bean burritos. Easy, you can make a batch and eat them all week and kind to animals.
Great video showing being health conscious while doing van life
Matt!! I started following you at 2K look at you!!!!

I just discovered your channel recently. Fun stuff!
I make up expressions and words all the time, anything I can imaginify. 🎉🎉
