Hey guys, how's it going? Chris Connor here and welcome to another episode of filmmaker reacts for my channel. Seat back, relax and lets study the filmmaking techniques as well as talk about what visual effects can be pulled of within after effects! This week we are reacting and taking a look at two LEAGUE OF LEGENDS THE CALL cinematic trailers!

In 10:47 I'm surprised that you mentioned the particles of snow becoming sand, but did not mention that the mountain turned into a piece of cloth with almost the same shape that the mountain was as well.

If you've ever seen or heard of the show "Heroes", not "Heroes Reborn" but the original where Zakka Lakka of the Ghost Adventures Crew took more Powers than many people involved.
That's Why I sent Him after himself, because at this point if you know you'd truly relent that it's True and not just another unspoken Truth or another Jou.
Just Saiyan, it's like an inner chakra explosion from my mind and then another month goes through and back again quicker than most think.
In the dessert is the representation of someone chasing through Dune while an amethyst dragon was Left to truly defend; the eternal soul They must feat because of a leap before another soul could go.
Written from note B through E for the Lead, before the base which starts some say too Deep; from C All the way home to G the note where God chooses to reside instead of where the sun always shines.
The deal with that Sword: The "master forger" is Orn a demi-god who forges legendary weapons. He hasn't forged one in thousands of years. The fact that he is forging one now means something big is coming onto the world (a big evil) and he is preparing for it.

Yes! Him making a weapon means that something BIG is coming. Also, the Cinematic is named "The Call", because someone called Ornn at the end with a horn if you hear it well.
Ornn made this "horn" a long time ago, and if someone calls it, he must answer. That's why his ultimate in game is named "The Call of the God of Forge."

So here is a light lore breakdown.
The Smith is Ornn, The All-builder, a god of craft who has promised a god-promise never to build a weapon again unless the world is in catastrophic danger. We catch him forging a sword.
The Spartan looking guy is Pantheon, he used to be the body for the god of war, but that god was killed and now he has declared war on gods and devils altogether.
The woman riding a boar is Seshuani (I definitely spelled her name wrong), she runs a Viking* tribe whose main food source was stolen by the bear looking guys who worship a bear god, The Volibear (Ornn's brother) he makes a guest appearance in the clouds when his servant summons some lightning.
The two in the desert, I'm not even going to try with their names (leave that to some other guy), travelled to this world's Egypt in order to stop another dimension from leaking through, because enough things are trying to ruin the world without those monsters running around.
The purple hue on her outfit is on purpose, as her armor is actually a creature from the same dimension as the monsters they are fighting.
She has tried for year's to escape that dimension, and is now flying back into it to lure the creature away. So that her friend can close the hole
Sejuani, Taliyah and Kai'Sa
Sejuani* and the two in the dessert are Taliyah (earth bender) and Kai'sa

above comments, yes indeed Kai’sa and Taliyah. I’m unsure of their lore together. But the giant beast that comes out of the hole where Kai’sa eventually freefalls into is speculated to be Rek’sai (Mother of the Void) and in turn, Kai’sa’s mother.
Just made the scene a bit more emotional knowing that she’s literally fighting her mother if it really is Rek’sai.
I'm surprised you didn't ramp about the massive details of the hand in 3:45.
The visible work of the muscles and tendons under the skin, the folding skin and moving blood beneth vessels, when he pushing himself up, even the slight decolorisation under his nails when he put presure on his fingertips, the amount of biological details is just mindblowing when you watch it frame by frame.
I also though that he will be blown away by this!

The coolest part is Pantheon's (Spartan Guy) hand when he's climbing in the very beginning. Take a closer look at it.
I checked several times and I fear that I'm missing it entirely, could you elaborate please?

Kaisa is the girl with purple abilities, she was lost in the void most of her life and her abilities come from the special void suit she is wearing, it's actually a void predator that she's wearing.
Anyhow love the stuff, keep it up!

He's like male Kaisa, but way cooler looking with his mage-like equipment.
Something that I feel deserves to be mentioned, is the fact that they are masters at sound editing. I feel like is not only that the song is amazingly epic and the lyrics Perfectly narrate some key moments in the story, is also the TIMING. It’s impecable.
See how Pantheon plunges his apear into the floor and at the exact same time the beat hits. Couple seconds later you know the beat is coming again, and a monster emerges out of the floor. What I’m trying to say is: this gives certain scenes SO much more impact and power. These cinematics are a craft worthy to analize like you do.

Purple chick in desert is Kai'sa, she gets her powers from a parasite monster that is slowly killing her and originates from the same place(void) as the giant monster they were fighting.
The overarching plot going on here is entirely related to the purple (Void) monsters, albeit in indirect ways for two of them;
Pantheon is climbing Mount Targon to fight the gods that reside in "Targon", the realm of the Celestials. Celestials have been taking over the bodies of mortals to use their power in Runeterra, and Pantheon was the Celestial of War, until the man managed to win back control after a clash with a demon. The link with the Void monsters here is that Targon holds the leash of a star-creating dragon, who *does* have the kind of firepower the world needs to counter the all-consuming Void. Pantheon doesn't know about this, but it'll come in play regardless.
Sejuani is one of three descendants of three sisters who fought a war for and against the "Watchers" who are, as far as we can tell, a cold acclimated of the same Void. While she currently is merely seeking a way to feed her people with the Cauldron of Ornn (one of the great gods of the region, the ram), she will need to clash with the forces of Volibear (another one of the great gods of the region, the bear). While we don't know how this clash will end, it will certainly put Sejuani in a place where she learns of the Watcher's imminent return that was highlighted in other lore stories and the threat they represent.
Taliyah is simply searching for a safe haven for her nomadic people in a Void-infested desert. Kai'sa has been fighting and learning about the Void since she was a child and fell in the tunnels below the sands. They teamed up for a while to investigate the increase in Void presence near a desert city. They are the ones who are actively in trouble from the Void and feature it's immediate danger. However, while Kai'sa is going back to her fight, this is all new to Taliyah, who has the power and will to spread this information to the big regional players; the Ascended demigods, who fought the Void a millenia ago.
As for Ornn, the ram god of the forge, whether he is preparing to fight Volibear here (as they are ancient enemies), or he knows of the Void/Watchers coming back is unknown. It does assuredly show that he knows *something* catastrophic is about to happen, because he swore never to make another weapon unless the world needed it.
The sword that ornn forges in the video is not a big deal itself. The important part is that ornn didnt make any weapon for centuries if not millenias, so him forging a sword now means he prepares for a really big war. (worldwar level of war)
It'd be great if that sword were to be carried by a future champion
@@lucialopez9530 considering it's the direct upgrade of Infinity Edge (the shape pretty much confirms it), also known as the Molten Edge, which was lost to us long ago when the Mythic items came into play.. that's gonna be one hell of a Critical Damaging champion.

Point of notice: When Leona strikes, you see the same coronal ejections you see from a star. They didn't have to add it, but it fits the impact perfectly.

The Spartan guy is pantheon(I totally forgot pantheons deisgn was inspired by the Spartan hahahha)
His the aspect of war...well the real aspect is inside of him...it's hard to explain
And the armoured lady is Leona
The aspect of sun,and those guys u saw fighting pantheon are solarian warriors,which serve the aspect of the sun

The girl in purple is Kai’sa and she spent a decade in the realm where that creature came from called the Void. This gave her some abilities and she uses them to fight off the Voidborn as they are called. The giant creature that attacked her is Rek’sai, a sort of mother to at least some of the other voidborn.

20:45 Kai'sa is sort of like a Venom character, she has a symbiotic void thing that makes up her suit that she bonded and adapted to as a child. That creature, Rek'sai I think most likely, unless it is just a generic void creature is from the same place she got lost in as a child. The Void is a weird place, sort of like an enemy dimension trying to break in and take over, they tend to be more alien like creatures though.
Riot does like to use color to define regions though, purple is typically void related, blue is Demacia, red Noxus, Zaun is green typically but then you have Jinx who doesn't really follow that, so it isn't always true, but typically the larger groups/regions do have a common theme going on.
Zaun and Piltover is green, Demacia is White, Noxus is Red, Shurima is yellow, Void is purple, Ionia is Pinkish, Fredjilord is blue, Targon is purplish blue.
Yes, in kung fu movies, they fight exactly as you called it "video game fights". its weird at first but its really cool to show off great moves

You definitely start to respect the scale of things when these gods, demigods and other monstrous creatures start to appear though. LoL's lore makes for some amazing story to be made into a cinematic. Riot's art team just killed it again, this is just top quality. So aside of being basically a music company at this point, they are also on the top when it comes to animations too haha!

She and the monster are purple because they came from the same world under the desert. The Void! It is in the lore of the game. Her name is Kaisa and the monster is Rek'sai.

Ever since I mentioned in your arcane episode 1 which had notably less cinematographic explanation after the reaction, I've come to enjoy your deconstructions even more. Love your efforts into these. It also helps that the cinematic itself is pure emotion for me, though.

Let's go for some explanation. First of all english isn't my first language so excuse if I lack a bit of vocabulary.
Icy land : The women on the board, Sejuani, is one of the 3 war chief of the land and her clan is dying for starvation. So she is looking for "cornucopia" of food own by one the old game who create this part of the world (Ornn the smith and Volibear the electric bear are the 2 other). But the philosophy of Volibear is "you must struggle to survive" so he try to stop her and send some of his creatures. Btw the viking man is another champion of LOL named Olaf.
Desert : The place has a complicated history, but basically a war append long time ago not that far and one of the belligerents summoned the Void. It's a place full of monsters who are all purple and try to destroy the world. Kayssa (the purple girl) was trapped in the Void when she was a kid and merged with one of the monsters. She managed to escape in Shurima (the desert) and crossed the road with Tallya who can control earth. The Big monster is Reksai, another champion.
And last but not least : The Spartan is pantheon he was possessed by the god of war and escaped. Now he is trying to kill all the gods who live on top of the mount targon (which we can the in the portal). While he is trying to climb, leona who is possessed by the god of the sun try to stop him. But Aurelion sol (he just is a cosmic dragon who has created the universe) tries to kill him because he had a bad encounter with an old war god possessed.

The "vibrant purple thing" is the void,those creatures as the one the girls were fighting comes from the void. Kaisa (the purple girl) is a human but the void has gotten into her ,i think since when she was little, killed her parents and tried to conquer her too but she fought it back and conquered it instead,so now she has void powers and seeks the void to fight it off

Using Xoolani the Healer's statue to bury the Monster back in its hole is her fighting the Void even from beyond the grave.
Atreus invoking the powers of the dead god that once lived within his body to fly up and kick the star dragons ass is my favorite thing.

good observation with the purple hues that monster is from the void , kai ' sa the girl gets her powers from the void as well she basically grew up there so they look alike because they kinda are both from the void.
Pantheon is such a fucking MAN.
His real name is Atreus and he had the aspect of war inside him(pantheon). Long story short he was stabbed (see huge chest scar) and the aspect died but the man survived (again what a beast). In the video he is fighting an aspect with nothing but his muscles and weapon, no powers, nothing. Even though the aspect of war is dead he somehow manages to reawaken the power of the Pantheon in this video after seeing all the fallen people that tried to reach Mount Targon. One of them was also his best friend. This scene is thd most epic thing I've ever watched honestly. What a CHAD!

In my opinion the best cinematic from league in graphic quality and epicness.
Warriors and Awaken are also great, maybe even better music. But the visual effects here are the best.

All the characters: Pantheon (spartan), sejuani (boar rider), olaf (viking with two axes), Kai'Sa (purple armor girl), Taliyah (earth-bender), Rek'Sai (big monster), Leona (valkyrie), Ornn (smith), Volibear (big bear in the sky), and it's maybe aurelion sol that shoots pantheon with the beam

To explain a bit of the lore.
The 3 places shown in the cinematic are the Frelyord(Ice), Shurima(Desert), and Mount Targon (Spartan Sci-Fi)
The people in the Frelyord are being led by Sejuani and Olaf, Sejuani is on the Bore, Olaf is the chonky man who breaks the ice with his back. They're going to war with Volibear and his followers the Ursine (half-man half-bear people.)
In Shurima Taliyah and Kai Sa are going to fight the void and collapse a nest created by Rek'Sai(Giant purple creature aka the Broodmother). Kai'Sa is leading Rek'Sai back to the void essentially sacrificing herself while Taliyah has to collapse that giant statue to cover the void portal made by Rek'Sai.
Finally, the spartan looking dude Pantheon, is going to fight the Aspects (Basically Gods) and has to scale Mount Targon and has to face off against Leona, before getting knocked back down by an unknown force, theoretically from Aurelion Sol. But so far riot is dismissing all theories regarding that.
Ornn is forging divine weapons to help push back the void.
Hopefully this helps some! This is pretty much the summarization of what I know so I don't expect all of it to be perfect :)

The girl that the spartan looking guy, is Leona an aspect of the sun. That is why the sword has the effects of the sun.
A thing abot phantheon (spartan guy) and leona (valkyrie chick) they are both an aspect (a somewhat similar or close to demigod)

Pantheon firmly subscribes to the "with your shield or on it" philosophy of warfare. Screw dodging, if I can't deflect it with my shield it deserves to kill me.
So the deal with Kai'sa having the same vibrant purple hue as the monsters, is that they both get their power from something called the "Void". Kai'sa was kidnapped as a child and sacrificed to the void by an insane prophet, but instead of dying, merged with another weak void creature so that they might both survive. The creature now exists almost as a venom-like second skin, and they both grew stronger as they fought for survival. Now that she has made it back to the overworld, she fights to protect people from the void monsters that make into their world, even as she is seen as a monster herself by those she fights to protect. The mask coming on as she prepares for battle symbolizes her giving up her humanity, and embracing the monster that is a part of her now.
It's so cool to see how you're picking up on lore elements from just your perspective as a film maker, without knowing any lore. The "purple energy/magic elements" of Kai'Sa(lady shoot violet energy blasts at the giant monster) and Rek'Sai(giant earth monster from a place known as The Void) both essentially use Void power. While oversimplified and not 100$ accurate, this is the simplest way I can describe it. Rek Sai is a monster from the void, and Kai'sa hunts void monsters by wearing the hide of a slain void monster to give her void powers.

The transition is not a bird, it's the piece of cloth Taliyah picks up of the ground and it transitions into leaves, just thought i'd point that out

The sci-fi spartan will be the hero of runeterra, you'll see
best, most impressive shot had nothing to do with the action. it was the hand. the detail, of the skin and muscles moving in the hand grabbing the rock. the shifting of the skin being under strain, and compressed by the wrist armor... my roommate who's been a a graphic artist for close to a decade watched that scene with me over and over, zoomed in, could only say, "I don't know how they did that. there is no software, I'm aware of, that can do detail work like that on a moving 3D model." which tells me the amount of work done and time taken for those couple of seconds is probably disgusting. I'm asuming thay had to have drawn every single frame of that sequence individually, which is... absolutely insane.
14:50 there is actually a good explanation why her skin is not that like that, because Sejuani is not a normal human, she is an Iceborn, Iceborn are the People who can survive really harsh and cold weather

for if u dont know. i can explain the purple similarities between the purple girl (Kai' sa) and the purple monster (rek'sai). they both have to do with the void.
what is the void. the void is the absent of licht and supposed to be like the nothingness before the light. what u see here in the clip is a whole being opened to the void. rek sai is also called the void burrower. there are many void creatures in LOL. Kai'sa however is a special. she basicly lived as a human in the void (forgive me but i dont know how she got there) but she has been there so long that the void started to interact with her. wich ultimatly resulted in her being granted a void bio armor. two of these story beat are stories going on at the moment. the 3rd is guessed by fans will be a story coming this season. i wont try to explain them (others have done it better) so if you REALLY want to know whats going on, look it up. who ever is doing riots stories are great (well we wont talk about the that one) and its amazing that they can juggle their games music and stories so well. good reaction and break down.

Okay so the reason why Kai'sa and the monster had similar purple hues is because the whole that the monsters were from is a place called the void. The void is believed to be a place that ONLY devours the living so when Kai'sa fell into this hole when she was around 4, her father followed her in. The father survived empty-handed and corrupted. After 20 years, Kai'sa survived, without an armor to protect her, Kai'sa now has void armor that is also alive soo the purple hues is alive yes and the suit survives together with Kai'sa. Somehow Kai'sa is the only person who got out alive and sane. Most of the people who enter the void either die or they get our corrupted and insane. There are 2 champions in League that are human that survived but went insane and one of them is Kai'sa's father; Kassadin.

So this is super lore haevy cinematic, I will try to explain (despite others already did). So this cinematic contains 4 stories ,we have full knowlage about 2 of those and some theyorys about third but 0 lore about forth:
1-storry in snowy mounties = So general idea is that there is this barbaric tribe named "Winter's Claw" who has realy hard time now surviving harsh winter (its told to be the worst winter ever) and there WarMother(title of there lider) after big talk with others decided to lead group of warriors into a fight with Ursine (Shamans who gave themselfs to the wild and are folllowers of Voliber, the bear demigod of thunder, you can see himin the coulds when one of Ursine chanels his power. Reason why they are shapeshifted is due to Volibers will and strong inflence that turns his folowers to beasts, also shamans In Runttera can generaly shapeshift) for the legendary Ornn's cauldron (Ornn is brother of Volibear, Ram demigod of Forge. cauldron feeds for a year anyone who sips from i) that they stole.
Woman on big boar is named Sejuani (current Warmother of winters claw) and she had bad expirience with Volibear in the past, she is one of Iceborn (type of people incredebly resistant to cold, they are the only ones who can wield wepons made of True Ice, a special type of ice that frozens to death anyone who tries to wield it while not being iceborn) and the Viking guy who tanked whole icekle is Olaf( a brutal warrior who is destant to die peacefully in bed while old, he hates that idea with hole heart and tries to constantly die in battle by engaging the most crazy and dengerus fights he can. So basicly he is imortal in battles)
2-story in desert = Our heros are Talyiah ( extremly powerfull earthbender) and Kai'sa (basically the only Power Ranger in Runterra. At Young Age Kai'sa vilage got consumed by Void(will explain that later).She succes fully survive by allowing portion of void to infect her constructing this wierd skin suit around her, it gives her crazy abilits but also constantly eats her in return. Now she tires to fight void everywere she can so no one shares her fate, both girls came to this abondoned vilage to clear it out of the void pretty much. The small land sharks are Xer'sai, race of Voidborns that terorize sands of Shurima(gig ass continent mostly made of deserts), the big one was Rex'sai, Queen of Xer'sai (an mother of them,I cant reccal if we have full info but its told that all Xer'sai are her children). the reason why Kai'sa jumped into the hole was propably to secure that no more Voidborns would come out of there.
Void is general name of coruption form difrent dimension (that is also named Void), In this dimmension there are Watchers, horrific beings that after being woken up from there slumber (they slept so hard that they didnt even knew that they or anything can exist, in runntera there was a time when mages went crazy so hard they made War so brutal and gigantic that they broke into void, war name is Runewars and is reason why Himerdinger from Arcane fears magic). They hate it extremly hard and want to destroy our realm in order to comeback to there sleep. Voidborns are wierd atempts to create there own material being with puropse of preapering Runntera for there final invasion.
3-mouitan story with spartan = The Spartan guy is named Atreus and he is the bigest sigma chad of all (He was the worst warrior of all in his tribe and lost every battle he had, in order to get better and defend his vilage he and his friend tried to climb Mount Targon, moutain so big it goes out of atmosfere. if you climb to the peak you will be possesed by one of the aspects who are basically godly aliens and granted there powers. His friend died of cold and when Atreus climbed to the peak Aspect of War, Pantheon said something along the lies "fuck you weakling" and possesed him taking control of his body away and went to fight some goldy monsters. he died giving atreus his body back with his godly powers that he kinda dont likes, now Atreus in on mission to slaughter all gods cuz he dont like idea of them) and as we se he was goint into somekind of portal( we dont know were portal leads yet) and foguht Leona (who is possesed by aspect of the Sun and she is leader of Solary. Tibe leaving under mountin that praise sun and sees any ohter religon as heretics that has to be purged away)
4- blacksmith= OOF thats a big boyyyy xd. So this is Ornn, a demigod from Freljord( we know of 5 of them : Ornn God of forge,The Volibear god of Thunder, Anivia(she is CryoPhonix) god of Everywinter and Iron boar, Seal sister that we dont know any thing about). he is extremly introverted guy who can be summed up by one of his quotes ,,Day without my Forge is day wasted". He dont have any followers at the moment but had one time, they all got brutally killed by Volibrear (dont remember his reason), he and his brother Voli basically hate each other to death. thingg about him is that to this moment he was dead silent, we didnt know any thing about him in terms of what he is doing and now when he has been shown that he starts smithing, it means that he goes into action. wich is extremy big news as right now we are foreshadowed and big lore event about Void preparing new big attack.
so I tied to explain somethings but I need to point out...I am no lore god ( this title could somewhat to guy named Necrit but he also isint corect always ) so there might be mistakes and also english isint my primary langueage so sorry

Here the Story so far:
For the freljord, basically Sej is trying to recover a pot made by Ornn, which is said that one sip from it will feed a person for a whole day (or month, or year, i can't remember), she is doing it to her tribe can survive, problem is, that pot had been taken by the Ursine, people and shaman that worship the Volibear, basically those bear hybrid you see in the video, Volibear is only seen in his siluette in the clouds! They took this pot because they believe that it will make people weak, and less wild, and Volibear wants Freljordians to be wild
For Shurima, Kai'sa and Talyah met in a story that you can find on universe, kai'sa was going to the ruins you see in the video to fight the void, talyah was going there to help her people, in the end, we don't know if kai'sa simply dived head first into the sink-hole to protect Talyah and her people from Rek'Sai or because she is going back to the void for something we still don't know! Fun fact, the giant statue Talyah destroyed was a statue of an ancient Ascended shuriman!
As for manly man pantheon, it's the most unknown, his gist is that he doesn't like Aspects, at all, he wants to kill the aspects because he believes that they are too powerful, and are treating people like marionettes, and he's going to Targon's peek for reasons we don't know, he fights Leona, aspect of the Sun, and leader of the Solari, who are kind of zelots, and are in constant fight with the Lunari, so no one of the two is necessarily good or evil, but at las some kind of star thingy shoots pantheon down, and we don't know what it could be, maaaybe aurelion sol is getting free?
As for Ornn is chilling smithing weapon, other comments already said why that's a big deal!
In the end all these characters will probably come togheter in the void event that is almost sure to unravel later this year because :
The watchers are in the Freljord, and something could very well happen there, Aurelion sol is one of the few beings capable of closing void rift, Kai'sa is now in the void, and Ornn is smithing weapons, which in the event could be that he forges special weapons to fight the void!
