- he time has come for me to check out League of Legends' "The Call" cinematic! In this video, I teamed up with my wife to watch it together, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. Having seen the 2020 and 2021 cinematics, I knew we were in for something special, but what we saw was beyond our wildest expectations. We were left completely spellbound and in awe of the incredible storytelling and stunning visuals.

From a league player, please don't check the 2023 cinematic. It's a disappointment
Is that a true cinematic like this one? It felt more like promoting the mobile game.

@@nawnomadnan9874 Sorry bit late, but some folks have pointed out that, it could be that Riot had to pull a lot of talented employees and studio's that work for them on these type of cinematics away from LoL and makes them focus on the supposed MMO game RIOT is working on. It's likely.. the only valid reason I could give why 2023's cinematic was this bad.

Pantheon. The Leonidas look alike. Is my favorite Champion in the game. Not for the game play but because of how fleshed out his lore is and how it ties to League of Legends realm overall. In "The Call" Atreus, Pantheon is Ascending mount Targon. The roughest mountain in all the realm which is burdened by bad weather and other obstacles. He does this as a normal human being. Something that is almost impossible to other mortal men. He fights the guards at the top of the mountain barehanded because they are just normal mortal men like him who are being manipulated by the gods which he has beef with plainly because of this. Fights Leona the Aspect or "God" of the Sun with his spear and stands his ground as a man. And takes a comet face and shield first As a man. And finally falls off the mountain only to rise again as a Man. Only when he looks upon a broken battlefield of men from his faction and the faction of Aspects does he regain the will to fight once more using the powers of a Dead god does he ascend to the heavens to challenge the gods again.

tbh Olaf doesnt have as flushed out of a story but i love it for it's simplicity, he's from a people where dying in battle is honorable and to die of illness or old age is basically a sin, olaf was given a prophecy that he'd die of old age thus damning him with dishonor so he literally is constantly fighitng hoping he can die in battle honorably but he literally just wont die
I love how fluent you guys are in sharing your thoughts. So I'll help with the lore of the video if you don't already know.
The first character (Fiery Sheep Man) is Ornn, the god of the forge. His scene is a huge deal because he vowed never to forge a weapon ever again and him breaking that vow means something cataclysmic will come. The Leonidas looking guy is Atreus who wields the power of the aspect of war known as Pantheon. He's making he's way back to the mountain to enter the gate (guarded by the soldiers) to Targon Prime (celestial realm/Olympus but better) but he was shunned by Leona (Fire sword armor lady). She is the Aspect of the Sun (sun goddess) however the one that blasted him off the mountain wasn't her but a Cosmic Dragon named Aurelion Sol who's beginning to break loose from the curse placed by the aspects (gods & goddesses) of Targon Prime. Lady with the boar is Senjuani and her clan seeking for a lost artifact made by Ornn. However it is in the hands of the Volibear, god of the storm and brother to Ornn. He's the bear cloud you get a glimpse at after the bear shaman. Those bear people are actually just shamans who worship the Volibear to the point that they become beasts. Lastly are Taliya (earth bender girl) and Kaisa (violet carapace lady) I forgot a lot of details but they were supposed to find Taliya's people there but the place was already infested with the xersai and their mother (the biggest monster) Reksai.
There's another cinematic showing what happened to Kaisa after she fell down with the monster you should check it out.

Orn and Volibear are Demi-gods. The Targon "gods" are not gods but Celestials and are sentient concepts. Similar, but very different, to spirits.

@@SCP-0049 Celestial beings are not Gods. They do not require belief to continue to exist. There might be a celestial god but none have been revealed.
All gods in Runeterra are Spirit gods (Nagakabourus is confirmed to be a spirit). Janna and Kindred are examples. Yordles and other spirits (like skaarl) exist regardless of any1s belief.

great cinematic/song choice to react to. Also Im so hyped that season 2 of arcane is on its way, Idk if the exact time frame has been announced (so its possible it may not be till like nov, dec) but it is supposed to arrive sometime this year. After 2 years the journey will continue :)
Great breakdown and insight. Love the combination of returning League player who (forgive me if this is incorrect) is not huge into the lore of the game/world/characters mixed with someone who has never played League and is fairly new to the world the characters inhabit. This combo gives a great mixed review with totally different viewpoints and you both seemed to pick up on different things in the video based on what you came into it knowing and what you observed in the watching. I also agree with your wife (who is beautiful btw) that I can appreciate when female characters are presented in a not totally sexualized way (though there is plenty of fan service out there lol) and with you about how Riot is so good at having strong female characters.

There have been only a few reactions from those who dont play Leagur that I enjoy and she is just very detail attentive and commentative. I love how she respects and takes the time to watch the cinematic in order to give her opinions later on.

If you want a quick summery of a lot of the lore of this world I would recommend a video called "The World of Riot's MMO is Already Done" by Necrit. It is MMO related, yes, but he really touches on all the regions and the basics of how they work.
As a league player I recommend the league card game Legends of Runeterra as a better way to appreciate the storytelling of Arcane and the cinematics, as there are side characters and more character interactions.
Definitely please rewatch all the past cinematics with your wife. Also check out Riot's Kin of the Stained Blade. Also check out 2019 worlds opening ceremony presented by mastercard, and the 2022 worlds opening ceremony presented by mastercard.
You and your wife should definitely react to Nekrit's video "The World of Riot's MMO is Already Done" He explains a little bit about the different regions in Runeterra (the world of league of legends) and what interesting things there might be in those areas for videogames and animates series' to explore in the future.
I feel like you'd also love reacting to some voicelines, such as Aatrox's ones and the teasers and stuff

PS Arcane is a series from League of Legends that deals and will only deal with Shurimans Port City [Kha'Zhun / Osha Va'Zaun] ==> Piltover and Zaun. But they are definitely working on other series from other regions, but they will have a different theme and a different series name.
Spoilers about the story that I know about through contacts are quite interesting because they will prepare our characters for their journey so that we can finally see them in the positions of the stories in which they are now.
The only thing I will say is that it is more than clear that we will be introduced to other characters and their stories and flashbacks. Plus, we should also get something smaller, more of what was actually between Mr. V. & Mr. S.,...
And also League of legends Skin lines are alternate and parallel universes. With stories this good, sometimes it's a much better champion story than in LOL. ;)
Well Spirit Guard Udyr, Spirit Blossom and Ruination skin champions are Canon.

What concerns the characters still on the old map in the style of Warcraft and similar games from that time and the relationship of the character being played with the Summoner = Player of the game = us.
Valorant is already completely out of the question, it's something like Overwatch from Blizzard and similar, with the fact that here in Valorant it's about parallel worlds,...
LOR is the world building of Runeterra and similar to the voice line champions cinematics and Some are part Canon.

I dont know if you have already done a video of it, but you guys should definitely do a video checking out the interactive map they have online. It is really fun to see the whole continent. Piltover and Zaun are teeny tiny compared to the whole continent.

If you're really planing to play this game have a team of 5 or atleast 3 it's better having more friends with you than strangers that would...... you know.....
If u rly wanna know more about the world then i would take a look at Necrits video called "The World of Riot's MMO is Already Done" While it is made for the purpose of the upcoming mmo it does explain the whole world of League and it is a very good video to show some1 new.
From story side, if you watched arcane, based on lore the characters you saw in the series are one amongst the weakest, they are represented as high tech cities, piltover, upper city using hextech and later-on you'll meet with chemtech technology which will be used in Zaun, lower city. But the true story and best of series will come when Arcane visits other regions where we'll meet literal Gods and deities such as celestials or Aurelion Sol, the Starforger himself. Pantheon (the Spartan guy you saw) is maybe top 10 strongest characters based on lore
idk if id say the weakest, tbh they need to flush out the damacia rebellion stuff but aside from that i think piltover/zaun is perfect, going all high concept and celestial is a stretch for an animated series, at that point it's basically the lore of the history of the planet rather than stories to animate and watch

Volibear was the bear in the sky. The beasts on the ground are called the URSINE and they worship the Volibear and he is turning them into beasts.

I do love how the female characters are just amazing characters and, I'll echo the statement, don't need to have that "I'm a strong independent woman" vibe. They are badass characters and they never need anything to point to they are female and badass. Idk how to explain it. It's so different than the marvel "girl power" scene in endgame. That's an example of how not to do badass female character and this is an example of how to properly do badass characters. Not even just female ones. In case you didn't know the giant thing that came out of the ground was a queen. Now that's a badass female character lol.

edit: to clarify I agree with you. I was just pointing out what, IMO, makes this better than most other attempts at making strong female characters. It's a subtle difference and it's just my interpretation. They are strong and cool characters and what makes it better is that being a female character isn't portrayed as being "unusual" or "surprising". They just are. It doesn't feel like a checkbox or a quota. It's respectful and it's how it should be. These characters could have the attitude of "Don't need no man!" or they could be a more stereotypical soft and caring attitude. Because they are individual characters and being a woman has nothing to do with why they are cool. By that I mean, obviously, women have been under and missrepresented for a long, long, long time and I don't want to downplay that. I just mean this is how it SHOULD be. All the characters are cool, badass and interesting and their gender is just a part of it but not the singular defining quality. I am not saying that the Marvel characters are that but that's how it felt the studio treated them. Cpt. Marvel, Scarlet Witch, Pepper Potts, Mantis, Nebula etc... are all cool and badass characters in their own way and are done well, for the most part. It was the "girlpower" scene in Endgame that felt like it boiled them down and simplified them in a patronizing way. Cpt. Marvel coming in and one shotting the ship and taking Thanos head on was awesome! Scarlet Witch nearly killing Thanos still gives me chills just thinking about it because it was both so badass and heartbreaking. Nebula taking care of Tony and trying to be "nice" was adorable and hillarious and just fun character moments. I don't mind or am I upset by having "girlpower" stuff. Having stories and character developed by a woman being put down and underestimated by men is a real and sad part of history and still happens today. But that's not what should define ALL female characters and stories. Because all people deserve to be celebrated for who they are.
TLDR; I agree with you and I don't think we have opposing views at all. I think I just worded it in a way that made sense to me and it may not have come across that way to you.
