I'm new to Digital Art Designing & I just started a free account on Kittl. I'm not good at drawing on paper to save my life but I have so many ideas to diplay & get mad that i can't. So I figure I give Kittl a try & it's been amazing. So many ideas to get inspired from. This video has been very informative. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. I already hit the 👍 up & Subscribed to the channel.
Welcome!
hi , i was wondering if u could show us your skill through ur journey of designing evolution from 2005 till now and compare difference ^^
Thanks for the idea!..... Hmmmm I wonder if I can find good example for each year
Hey Juna!
Just wanted to say thanks AGAIN for your great tips. One of your niche trend ideas from last year has netted me thousands of dollars and is still selling quite well with a BSR in the low 200-100k. I had no access to advertising at that time, either. So the sales were organic and based on, I'm thinking, the design and keywords. This tee now has almost 175 reviews, it is an "Amazon's Choice" in its niche and some people have even posted photos of themselves in the reviews wearing the shirt.
This is all to say, your trend recommendations and design tips WORK!
I haven't been at this as long as you, Juna. Just about 2 years. (I'm in tier 2000 with only 1/2 slots filled.) Of course, not all of my designs knocked it out of the park like the one mentioned above. But they do sell! I would say the biggest thing that helped is to design in the niches I know well from my own life, interests, hobbies, etc. When you're "into" something, you know what's funny about it. You read about it. You can discuss it with friends. You know the buzz words, etc. I know absolutely nothing about the world of horses. It's a huge seller, of course, but I probably won't touch that topic. For me, it would just take too long to learn enough about that world to design a clever, unique and timely t-shirt. (I'm sure people do explore unknown niches successfully, but that method just hasn't worked for me.)
Also, I know you've gone over this before about niches, Juna, but it's worth repeating: the niche of "Teacher" is broad. "Teacher who likes coffee," is more specific. "Teacher who likes coffee & cats," is niched down even further. You could (and probably should) niche it down even further. It's likely if you design a shirt for a teacher in general, you'll have an enormous amount of competition and it will be harder to rank. Remember, people DO search the niches! You want to design something they can't find at Target.
So, to recap: niche down, and then niche down again in fields of interest you know well and FOLLOW JUNA'S CHANNEL AND HIS DESIGN TIPS! With some patience and creativity, you'll have some success! Thanks, Juna!
Wow! I am so happy for you.... congratulations!!! Thanks for the kind words and shout out....Sounds like you have a really good understanding print on demand now.... you got this... the sky is the limit... keep doing what you are doing and do it at scale.

I'm just trying to really get down packed the design layouts that really hit home. It's different on Etsy so I'm going to try to extrapolate your process. Thank you again! 💗
Please do! Yes... it can be a little different on Etsy... they have their own audience

Got it!
Thanks so much for the great content - really useful! My T shirt Tip is to focus on black T shirts (so choose light contrasting colors when designing text and graphics), because they seem to be the most popular.
Thanks for the comment and thanks for the tip.

Loved your last tip because I am an Etsy SEO expert. SEO can't rescue a flawed design, just like an umbrella can't fix a rainy mood. Quality design always comes first! ☔🎨

Great info, as always! My only tip (being a newbie at this particular thing) would be to give yourself a day or two, after finishing a design, to see if you still like it when seen with "fresh eyes". I have had designs I was super happy with that, upon going back a few days later, I thought were pretty poor. (I have to do the same with my writing... maybe it's just a personal idiosyncrasy!) If I still like it a day or three later, then I upload it :-)
Great tip! Yeah... no need to rush it.. do your best
So true!
My, "Agent Orange Soda," design seemed great until the next morning when I spewed my breakfast all over the monitor as I realized it sounded like a chemical weapon. Fresh eyes, at least the next morning, are important.
(finishes wiping breakfast off the monitor)
@@bl8388 Oh my gosh, that's too funny. 😅That would make a great video, though: great t-shirt design ideas that turned out to be not so great. I made a beautiful design and came up with - I thought - an original saying to go with it. Turned out I had unconsciously borrowed it from a politically-charged tag line.
@@GoWestYoungK9 That's so easy to do with such a small T-shirt space.
I your from Brazil thank you❤

Where is the best place to get design inspiration? Is there a magazine or book? We recently got a DTG printer, and our market would be mostly aviation themed, but may be other things too, your video is helpful, but I wondered if you had more advice for how to create the initial ideas, I’ll check out your other videos too 😊
Lots of t-shirt designs online.... you could also go to the mall or target or walmart.... lots of places to see other designs
Great video! There's one shirt that needs editing...TOWSDAY should be TWOSDAY!🙃
I know.... I should have made a tip for spelling...lol
Do you always bring artwork to the top of rectangle on your shirts and do you position and size differently for women and kids?
I design for a tall rectangle but I like to leave about a 700px margin around the merch by amazon size.... I don't go edge to edge.
im curious about the middle canva at the middle, covering your cap from camera
It says, Merch by Amazon... which is now Amazon Merch on Demand
Juna is the master. This point is not open for discussion.
Wow... thank you
Is it okay to use rgb or should use cmyk for print on demand?
Design in CMYK but save as a PNG which is RGB
I'm a beginner t-shirt designer. Regarding the balance between simplicity and complexity, is it better to err on the side of simplicity? Or Complexity? What do you think? Great video by the way.
Depends on your audience but I would say in most cases simplicity
Watched this video from a link in your shorts. See, it works? Hehe
Oh good... thanks for that. I'll have to do another one
When I use background removers, it takes away the text as well. How to keep the text while removing background around the images? I am using Free Canva
Make sure the text is a different color than the background
Hi 👋 great video.. can you tell me which Print on demand shop has good quality shirts?
Honestly I have ordered from all of them but Shimmy Morris has done a bunch of videos on the subject
@@DetourShirts ok I will look them up 👍
Hello. I'm new to the t-shirt business, I'm in the process of learning and I appreciate some advice: What might be better to start with, to have a good variety of motifs on different topics or to focus the motifs on a single theme. Thank you. David
Great question..... well if you knew exactly what theme will work for you than the 1 theme thing would be awesome but most of us don't know, so we have to do lots to figure that out.
@@DetourShirts Yes, here in Colombia, as in many other places, the theme of pets is in fashion and I have thought of starting with that niche, although I have many designs of different themes.
Can you do a video for doing research on what's trending at the moment?
Trending at the moment.... I just made one.... check out this one... th-cam.com/video/aNqXkP1JJt0/w-d-xo.html
Im interested in 3 to 4 niches like gaming, anime, movies and travelling. Can i sell all this with same website. I can make different categories in my website for it. Is this good or only 1 to 2 niche should be focused.
Yes... do as many niches as you want... it's just harder to have a focused brand around it but I wouldn't worry about that at the beginning.
Where did you do this Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop?
Affinity Designer
Hi Juna,.. how do you promote your t shirts t get sales ? 🤔
The only place I pay for is Amazon Advertising...... but I also use Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest for FREE
Whats the max number of search results that we should take into consideration in order to find a low competitive niche ??
Wow.... Probably around 500... but it all depends on the competition... it's not just a number it's the competition of the designs too.... If all the results are just text based I know I can break in with a solid graphic + text combo
05:10 1st shirt on left i see MTV logo .Its TV stations logo allowed ?
No… that was from MTV… they can do it, we can’t
I don't have any website or etsy or shopify store..can I sell directly on merch by Amazon and redbubble?
Yes you can
I am new with T-shirt
Hope this was helpful
Sir i have a question ! My redbublle account is not showing me analytics or traffic ! Can it will be shown after getting getting sales ??
I'm not sure on this one... I would just give iit some time
Do you have a link to that hat with the white underneath the rim?
Are you talking about the hat I'm wearing? I got it from Printful
@@DetourShirts Do you know the make and model of the hat?
Sir can i put your quotes “DO YOUR BEST AND DO MORE OF IT” to my next design ? :D
It's not my quote.... I would check trademarks (USPTO) and also see if it's an actually quote from someone....if it's not someone's quote and it's not trademarked you should be fine
Hello sir i wondering if i found a good idea with 0 competition i should post 1 design and go to another idea and put one ....ect , or i should post many design that i can and move on to other idea ?
Depends on how much space and time you have.... if you can post a lot of designs for it, go for it.... if you are limited on time and space than do one at a time and wait for results
@@DetourShirts ty i appreciate it, I'm new to this and i only work in redbubble i don't have merch by amazo.. acc cs of mt country , so i want to work in niche of " international women's day " but when i search it i found a lot but when i add "2023" to it i found few , what you think
Ty for your time brother ♥️
🖤
Thank you
What should be the file size of graphic
I usually use 4500px x 5400px for my t-shirt designs
Girl pooow-wah!!!😅
Nice!!! Thanks for that comment
Can i use the word ( tshirt, birthday, gift) on the bullets and the description??
Lots of resent listing use those words.
You may get away with it but Amazon doesn't want you to use it
@@DetourShirts are you using this word on your listing ?
I did before but I try not to now
thank for the tips..
No problem!
What size would you consider the tall rectangle?
4500 px x 5400 px
@@DetourShirtsthank you 😊
As a beginner, which POD platform is best to sell my T-Shirt
I would either go with TeePublic or RedBubble... they are both FREE to join and have pretty good traffic
is it legal if i take picture on internet for my design? i want produce some kids tshirt for my online shop
No.... If it's on the internet it's almost always copyrighted... unless you actually made it with AI or bought it from the shop or if it actually says it's commercial FREE but not everything on the internet is NOT fair use.... you will have to check to make sure.
Hello, Can I have the free download online tips ?
All my free downloads can be found here... www.detourshirts.com/collections/downloads
Thank you so so much for all the info and tips you're sharing, Juna!! I do not understand one (simple?) thing though..and can not find it Anywhere..((( pleeeease give me an advice!
If I make a White text design - does it mean that logically it can Not be sold on the white t-shirts??...
So in this case I just choose the Black color by default, ok
AND I should create the same text product BUT in black in order to be able to sell it on white t-shirts/dresses/ecc?? Like a totally new product? Correct?..
I thank you in advance! 🙏🙏
if you put that white design on white color still be uploaded but if someone buy he or she may return it and that not a good thing for you. you can use multiple designs for specific colors
@@d.s.h6629 thanks dear! That's what I thought..I just don't get exactly how I should do it Technically? So WITHIN the same article/listing I will be able to upload different text colors for different t-shirt colors? Or I should create a second "entrance"/listing for the different text color?.. 🙏
@@innalabutova hi Inna. yes in my understanding its 2 designs so you need to put the second one in a new block (a new product).
Yes... you are correct... I usually do a design that works on dark colored shirts (white text) and a design that works on light colored shirts (black or dark text). You can almost always choose the colors of the shirts for POD sites
@@d.s.h6629 Thanks a lot! very helpful!!
can we copy the t-shirt quotes in a new way? I mean in a new design and typography etc? Is there any copyright issue?
If the quote itself is not trademarked or copyrighted (like a famous song or something) then you can make a new design and typography
@@DetourShirts thanks
what is the best printing tech for your T-shir, PTG, PTF?
I don't use those... I just let the POD sites print my shirts
Great video great tips but sir give an idea for marketing free marketing
Sure 👍 You can start with social media
@@DetourShirts Ok thanks
