About 5 years ago I offered both my DT50's up on CL for about $450 ea. Didn't get a single call. Now I'm SO glad they never sold. I use them with my Helix now all the time. Monster amps.
I had my DT 25s up for sale and recently started working on patches utilizing L6 Link with mixed success. It just seems dull compared to running Helix FRFR or compared to the DT25 on its own. I am running preamps and amps without cabs or IR's. Any advice?
In my opinion, I've found very few models that work well as preamp only. So I've been using amp models with no cabs/mic modelling and had great results. The DT amps like to be loud! Just get the voicing and neg feedback the way you want and I think they're great. I don't like the DI's on them though so you really need to mic them. @@lordpeekaboo
I have 2 DT 50s a DT 50 head and a st 50 212 combo. I’ve owned a lot of tube amps over the years. To me the DT 50 is the most versatile best sounding, I’ll never sell mine. The used prices are going up. Maybe line6 will come out with a DT 50 helix.
Fantastic amp. I had one too, but it hissed terribly. However, I really liked its services, the many different settings. According to the technician, the motherboard should have been replaced, but they no longer manufacture parts for it, so I sold it to my great regret. I was very sad! I'm jealous, yours doesn't have such a problem!
sorry to hear about your amp's problem...Very unusual. My DT50 and Badcat are actually the only amps that never had issues. Everything else (Fender, Marshall, Laney, Egnator,...) always had a tube problem every now and then. You must have been given the odd one out.. What are you using now?
@@PatDeJongeSoundwise DT25. This works flawlessly. Now I'm planning to buy another one, they like it so much... just to have it. I tried with modelers before (I started 2 years ago, I'm still an advanced student). But I really didn't like the sound. The DT25 (DT50) - Helix pair is the best. You already play the guitar very well!
Thanks, yes indeed they are great amps! Some people complain about the output transformers dying, but I never had any issue with any of the amps. The tube biasing from the factory wasn't great, so I redid that, apart from that all was perfect
Hi Stefan, well the combination of those different speakers (G12H90 and V30) and the fact that they are 'crossloaded' seem te really work. I find they are a bit smoother than a Marshall 412 and the cab is really solid. No rattling or any other kind of unwanted noise. Sturdy caster mounted on a solid metal frame. I also love the tolex (black/brown). The cab is straight but the speakers are slightly slanted, projects really well. As said, this is my best 412 cab
That was in the early run. From what I understand that problem was corrected towards the end of the first batch out the door. I’ve had mine since that second batch hit the stores & gigged it hard & it’s never messed up on me ever.
You mean the 60 cycle hum? Yep, that's a single coil for you... the 'buzz' in the sound is something else: the camera mic couldn't handle' the volume :)

yeah man! same here. Love it at first, then it started to collect dust, and now I'm so glad it's still here. It kills!

I have one. I picked it up new & still love it. People would scuff at it when I used it live until they my tones. It still crushes!
Very impressive amp and excellent demo on it.
Thank You
Thank you Charles! Much appreciate that!

@@orbitus The Helix will talk to a DT25?
@@DrRussPhd yes, it recognizes it, but I turn off the models in the DT25 and control the amplifier topologies with midi commands.
Great video!
Thank you!
Great Video I´ve the DT25 and it´s really good

I just got one for us$135, it's a steal
135?!! that is illegal! ;) Well done, that is indeed a steal
Can you elaborate a bit on the cab? I have the amp head and am wondering if it is worth hunting down a cab other than for completig the look.

someone is offering me a deal on this head a cabinet and a floor pod for around 600 dls

Obtain a backup output transformer. You’ll need it eventually. Matter of time. And Line 6 will do nothing about it.
wow! that sounds like a fault in de design. I had the amp for 4 years now...you got me worried 'cos that sounds like an expensive repair
I've had 2 DT50 combos since they came out. I've only had to re-tube, no transformers. I think that was an early batch that had some issues.
@@BucF16 if you only knew how much I envy you. I wish you continued good luck.🍀
