    Having an empowering birth experience is one of my favorite topics of conversation. Birth is a transformative experience and we can cry and laugh and love up on each other’s stories, whether there is heartache, trauma, euphoria, or peace. All birth stories matter and there is strength to gain from listening to each other’s experiences. I sit down with my friend Jordan, who recently gave brith to her fourth baby in the comfort of her own home in Tanzania with her family. She shares the story of her most recent birth and we also revel in the evolution she’s had from her other births as well. Her birth stories are both hilarious and beautiful, chaotic yet calming, and also empowering. We found many similarities in our own lives, not just from the beautiful mess of motherhood and homeschooling and raising a big family, but also from the insights we’ve gained over the course of our different births. In this episode we cover what has helped us have the most empowering birth experiences, what hasn’t helped, and everything in between.
    You can find Jordan on instagram at @pheonix.wild so you can keep up with her life journey with her family travels, homeschooling and motherhood. She is coming out with a homeschooling course soon so stay tuned for that and she also just launched an online market place to be able to find natural mother and baby products all in one beautiful place, at organicbabyme.com
    So buckle up for some wild birth stories, I laughed a lot in this episode, probably because I find so much joy in talking about birth. I hope you enjoy our stories.
    In this episode we cover:
    - Jordan’s story and what led her family to uproot and move to Tanzania
    - What she’s learned from living in Tanzania and what the culture is like
    - Jordan’s birth story of her most recent birth, her fourth baby who was born just 7 weeks ago
    - The rest of our birth stories and what we have learned from each one
    - What has helped us have the most empowering birth experiences, what hasn’t helped, and everything in between.
    - The power of the mind in creating a positive birthing experience
    - How to decide where you should give birth (the hospital, birth center, home birth, etc)
    - How we have found pleasure through brith
    - Orgasmic Birth, the book
    - Running towards the places you are most afraid to go, and relaxing in those places
    - Embracing the journey of labor instead of trying to hide from it for a quicker and more enjoyable labor progression
    - Rewriting the story that birth has to be painful and scary
    - Homeschooling and motherhood with 4 children
    - And so much more.

    I would love to do an interview to tell my story of my 3rd birth that was unassited and completely silent, mentally strong, empowered, and literally the most peaceful birth I have had. My first was an emergency c section, second natural birth at the hospital yet traumatizing due to the hospital staff, then my third I finally got what I wanted all along which was a unassited home birth. So many things I would love to explain and teach within each of these births.

    She told that story so well. I was able to picture the whole journey. She’s very poised and well-spoken. That’s such a dream birth. I wish the dad made it but it happened how it was suppose to. This video is great. This was such a wholesome conversation. You women are inspiring.

    "Don't rely on anything outside of yourself." Wow I needed to hear that. This is my first after 10 yrs of infertility so I've been in a state of shock my entire pregnancy and it's FLYING by and I sometimes get overwhelmed with fear, esp doing a water birth. Loved this chat SO much. Thank you! ❤️

    Also I love that the woman opens up her home for women to give birth there. That's amazing and I've actually wondered if that existed prior to hearing this. What a wonderful woman, what a help especially for women who don't have a home.

    What a beautiful birth story, I gave birth three times and now that I saw this experience I feel I missed something for not going for the fourth. I definitely connect with both of you, the more a woman experiences giving birth, the experience gets more spiritual and less physical. I really enjoyed this episode, got me back to those three magical moments I will always cherish and remember in detail. Thanks for sharing

    I love Jordan so much. I'd love her on my team of supermoms who just want to f'n save the world... Why not!!! I also realised something in this moment as I'm half way through this podcast. Black women (not trying to generalise) are often quite unique in how we express. I too prefer more an honest, abrupt approach when getting a task achieved. It's not in a callous way at all, more direct, to the point and very very very honest. There is no fluffy language, just honesty. I love that about myself all of a sudden. Guys, you're moving mountains here!!! This was the most amazing and empowering chat I've ever heard and perfectly in alignment with what my spirit needed ❤️❤️❤️

    Jah & Jahes love. This was a great video! I have to read the book on "Orgasmic Birth"! I will watch it again to learn more about transcending the fear during birth. I wish that I had been better prepared for my births. I had my babies with midwives. But that was about 20 years ago. I ended up having my daughter alone at home with my other 3 children under 10 years old at the time. I was stretched, so it didn't take long, and I didn't experience much pain. I just laid down on the bed, propped myself up with pillows, and ensured the children were safe in the room with me. And I pushed! But, my birth experiences could have been so much better, so much more exciting and orgasmic, had I had better and more concerned midwives and doulas. I can't wait for you to become a midwife, Helen! I know that you'll be a great one. Blessed love.#1804 #Ayiti #orgasmicbirth #Helenfischer

    I am seriously considering home birth for my 5th. I've had very comfortable, private hospital births in Alberta, Canada... But with the past/current restrictions that Alberta Health Services has done trying to take away people's informed consent.. I think my home is now the safest place to have my baby. I might not have a midwife available for my area because we don't have alot of midwifes or birth centers in central Alberta.... any suggestions? I was thinking of having my mom, cousin and sister. Between the four of us we have brought 16 beautiful babies into this world. I love that you guys bring this information forward. With all my births they were quiet, calm, and not painful... I have been hesitant to talk about it because I feel it has made other mothers mad because I talk about it as a wonderful pain free experience. What do you do with the placenta after you cut the cord? What do you tie the cord off with?

    • @simonewild8006
      @simonewild8006 ปีที่แล้ว

      The fewer people at the birth, the better in my opinion. I'd choose one of those three women, the one who trusts birth the most.
      You can get cord clamps online, or you can use a tie, or you can burn it with candles (Google cord burning ceremony). In terms of the placenta, you can plant it under a tree, you can throw it in the ocean, whatever you like

    • @darciisabella
      @darciisabella 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      The previous responses were excellent but I'm curious, was there any kind of intervention during labor? Sometimes medical intervention can lead to hemorrhaging. But sometimes it just happens too. I ended up hemorrhaging 5 hours post partum at one of my homebirths and was taken to the hospital by the paramedics. I was given pitocin and declined an offered transfusion. Then went on to have another homebirth with no complications. For me, it was due to what I was eating, or lack of certain minerals. I don't know if they discuss it in this video, because I just started listening, but healthy eating during pregnancy is so important.

      Oh yeah and I was pushing for literally 6 hours. I don't know why it took so long. It was absolutely awful pain wise. Then baby came out and I immediately passed out. Woke up screaming uncontrollably as they had to remove my placenta by hand. It was pure chaos. My husband had my son in the corner of the room but I was in and out of consciousness. It was absolutely terrifying.
