The new 2025 Toyotas are electronic marvels. But most dealers don't have the time (or knowledgeable staff) to adequately instruct new owners on how to use the features. Steve is doing his best to correct this problem and I'm grateful!
This was VERY helpful! I just got a 2024 RAV4 and took it on highway trip last weekend and the adaptive cruise control worked great but the lane centering didn't seem to do anything but after watching this, I realize i have never turned that feature ON in the menu settings so it was only doing the lane tracing....fixing that today! Thanks!
I have to admit I really like the full suite of Safety Sense 3 in my ‘23 Toyota Corolla Hatchback. With everything turned on, it keeps me centered and properly distanced. I’ve driven Safely Sense 2, and 3 is way better.
Thanks - these features are a bit confusing and unintuitive, so it was awesome to see them demonstrated. For example, it isn't intuitive that the lane centering should have anything at all to do with cruise control being ON or OFF
Hi Steve. I'm here in the UK and things are different here. I've just purchased a Yaris Cross, a small SUV here in the UK, and the good old EU driving rules state that we have to have the LDA on all the time although you can take turn it off it comes on again by default when restarting car. On my steering wheel controls I have a button for the LTA where I'm free to turn off/on at will. Thanks for all your video tips they have helped a lot.
It is difficult to concentrate on what you are saying when you are driving around on empty! 🙂 Thanks for the informative video. We just got a 2024 Corolla Cross and need to learn how to use these features.
Hi Steve. As always, thanks for your technical help. My question this time pertains to my 2023 RAV4 Hybrid. I’ve had the car for just over a year and all the apps on the multimedia screen disappeared. The phone app tells me that the subscription has expired. Must I subscribe to get my Google maps, Spotify etc. to be available again? Thank again.
I think you're confusing a couple of things and possibly have two distinct issues to address. Your RAV4 came with a 1 year subscription to Remote Connect and possibly Drive Connect. Those do expire and if you don't renew them, you'll loose the remote features of the app. You'll still have other features in the app however including odometer and I think fuel and tire status. Drive Connect is the cloud based navigation which is the little arrow in the left column. You can renew those for $15/month and it comes as a package. Neither of those will have any impact on your Bluetooth connection to the car which is where you access Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. That is where you find Spotify, Google maps and Waze. If you lost those features, check your Bluetooth settings. It should be a simple fix.
Steve, almost no dealers take the time (or have the time) to help buyers navigate the often complex procedures necessary for managing and applying the various tech assist features on today's new cars. This is a huge problem for manufacturers. I'm going to pursue it with my Washington contacts... Let me know if you wanna help....
Thanks for the class. One thing i did notice: why is it all dealerships cars on the lots have no gas? So if its stolen the thief doesn't get far? Lol. I was taught to keep gas tank near full, especially in cold weather and tmes of storage to help prevent water condensation.
They are shipped with enough gas to get from the factory floor, onto trucks, boats or trains (depending on where it is built) and the dealer fills it when it’s delivered. Most dealers wait until it is sold to fill it
I own a Corolla LE. and when I turn LTA on it feels like I have a front passenger driving the car with me. It bothers me so much that I've given up using that feature. Once while highway driving, it pulled me to the right out of my lane and I had to pull back to avoid running off the road. I also don't always drive with both hands firmly pressed on the steering wheel and don't know anyone who does. I think it is a bad feature for cars and I simply can't trust it.
I turned mine off in the 2024 Toyota Rav4 hybrid because the steering tug felt like my steeering was locking and my was about to fishtail. Also, it will happen at random times when I am perfectly in the middle of a straight road. Havent had that feeling since I turned it off
This question has nothing to do with what you just talked about BUT what does “Setting pressure wait a moment” mean that pop up on my display screen where the speed limit is located?
why would they combine it in one function?? Toyota is not too smart from my experience. i should be able to use Lane assist without Lane alert, that's like combining blinker light and honking
From one Virginian to another, thank you for providing these very informative and easy-to-follow videos.
Thank you for doing this. Your explanations are so easy to understand.

Thanks for the good words!
Dealers should learn this stuff but sadly most don’t.

@@TrainerSteveClifford thank you. It’s probably just a temporary anomaly

Steve I noticed that on the 2024 venza BSM is only a light on the side view mirror. No alert.
That’s how Toyota does the BSM. Light only
I think all cars are like that. No meet for more buzzers 😊

Can I turnoff sway warning(coffee cup)??
@@CRVgarage on US spec vehicles, yes and it stays off

Not sure I understand the question. Maybe send me an email with more details at steveclifford@sheehy.com
It is usually when the gas cap is being opened.
I found LTA only seems to work when the lanes are clearly marked. (white lines).
👍🇩🇰

My brand new rav 4 is all over the highway. Not funny
