I found that out by accident and wondered what it meant. :) One thing I have wondered though… if you’re in Drive, and you engage the parking break manually, the parking break will disengage when you put your foot on the gas pedal. But whether that’s good for the vehicle or not, I don’t know.

Thx. Been there, done that in 1st week of ownership. Rain sensor in the 2024 Rav4 Prime XSE with Tech Pge is crap! Wish it featured the delay wiping available in standard cars in lieu of a crap sensor setup. Previously owned a 2009 Mini cooper that had better working wiper rain sensor. PS no bird poo blocking the sensor. I think Toyota is retarded when it comes to technology. Lane departure is Elon like..crappy Infotainment is Microsoft like first iteration...ie buggy (latest firmware installed). Another good one...get the factory hitch installed...you lose the foot hatch opening feature. Dealer throws the harness away while resourceful youtuber shows how to get both devices (hitch/foot hatch) live happily together. Nuff said. Thx for sharing, you confirmed my understanding (reason I landed on your channel). Hopefully "reliability" will confirm a good decision when I bought my Rav4--the only thing left compared to other offerings. Happy trails!

I find my 23 CRV Touring better than my dad's 21 Prius in terms of driver assistance system. On the Honda, lane centering works independently from adaptive cruise control, but not the Toyota. This feature is very helpful for old drivers like him, mostly in city at low speed and still needs lane centering assist.

The most annoying feature. It is unusable in my country, as the intersections discards the speed limit here, but toyota does not recognise them. So it still blinks even there is no speed limit anymore. Luckily my fingers learnt fast to switch it off, just: bown, left,left,left,ok, up :) But I have to do it after each stop :(.

Hey Steve, you are right that "Charge Mode" is normally a bad idea but I've heard one argument that makes sense. Spending some time on the highway to charge up means having enough charge to go into pure-EV mode. If you expect to be in extreme stop-and-go driving where you turn the car on and off repeatedly, staying in pure EV mode is better than ICE-warmup in HV Mode. For example: lets say you plan to go through a McDonald's Drive Through. If you did this at 0% charge in HV mode, your ICE engine would start-and-stop repeatably, likely losing efficiency and causing unnecessary warmup / cooldown cycles. But if you instead built up to 2% or 3% charge from highway driving in "Charge" mode, then click the "EV" mode button to stay 100% EV through the McDonald's Drive Through, then the ICE engine never turns on or off. So it is possible to gain efficiency with "Charge Mode". But these circumstances seem rare indeed. But never say "Never" !!! With enough creativity, the community eventually finds a legitimate use of the feature!

Experience drivers know under certain conditions the worst thing you can do is hit the brakes you should be on the accelerator. So that you maintain control before during and after contact.

My dad has lately bought a corolla cross from 2024 or 2023 with this exact instrument cluster and multimedia system but doesn't have the map in the cluster showing up at all, do you happen to know why?

I have the 2024 RAV4 Prime SE and I leave it on EV because my daily drives are 40 miles round trip so I don't touch the gas tank.

I just had this problem and there was a second step: after tapping on the speaker symbol as you showed, I had to immediately turn the volume control up. Apparently mine was set to Zero volume for some reason!
