Looking at people in the eyes has worked for me. Not in a menacing way, in an “I acknowledge your presence” kind of way. Couple it “walking with purpose”, not afraid, and you’re mostly okay. Always be wary of where you are.
If the person appears crazy or tries to get crazy you have to get more crazy. A crazy person won't mess with you if they think you're crazier then them
I can attest to that. I got out of a fight a long time ago while inside of a tavern. I crazy guy felt that I looked at him the wrong way and started yelling at me. I not only matched his intensity, but I started screaming random things, pounding the top of my head while screaming that I'm crazy and fŭ**ed up in the head. I broke eye contact while putting on this charade, then quickly glanced up at him & said "hey let's get another F'ing beer" then slammed my fist onto the bar. He smiled and said "hell yeah and by the way I'm f'd up in the head too". Confrontation over.
Excellent videos! Thank you! Being Portuguese, maybe you have see a recent social media post by João Quadros (writer) that escaped of 5 robbers thanks to Krav Maga. That is what raised my curiosity.
First.. shut off prejudice thoughts.. I am not.. I am a small white guy who grew up and went to public school in a predominantly black area next to DC.. Just the way it was... Back then, sometimes you had no choice to fight the (whatever race) bully that wanted look cool.. I had several.. I say that to say this... "Most" times, The quickest way to defuse somebody who might be looking at you as a target when you are passing is to acknowledge them.. look them in the face and nod slightly giving them some silent respect, or even better.. Say something like "hey man, how you doin today?" Or "what's up my man?" Simple. Give acknowledgment that they are an equal human being and share respect.. You will usually get a surprised look and an answer instead of a fist in the face. Of course if you have to fight for your life.. ANYTHING GOES... Get in it to win it even if you know you're going to get hurt.. or worse.. I'm old now..I don't want to fight, but I promise they'll remember me if I have to ... my tattoo says "Pandemonium" for a reason.🌪️🌀
