I admire Palki Sharma so much. I am in college and studying to become a journalist. Journalists like Palki Sharma give me hope that true and genuine journalism is not dead yet.
To anyone who is suffering from depression and mental health know that you are really important to someone, and everything will be okay. Please do not be afraid to seek help and talk to a wonderful person because you are not alone, and will never be. Thank you Ms. Palki Sharma for being a truly great woman.
@Abhiram you can talk to me, am not professional though, but I will do my best. For the start, I believe you must meditate and reflect to 'know thyself' at the moment and figure out where you want to be in the future.
@Abhiram you can’t expect others to make you happy dear,it has to come from within..I saw ur other comment as well where u mentioned about deleting contacts..you are actually giving them power to make you sad/happy?! During my teenage I had similar thoughts & then I thought...(This might sound cynical) “no expectations...no disappointments” Now especially, post pandemic, most people r fighting their own battles that their frnds/family know nothing about! The only person who can help you is you, some things that helped me was... Limiting use of social media, writing a diary, using TH-cam algorithm to your advantage, like if you watch one motivating vid it recommends you 10 others make sure your feed is full of positivity & things that you find interesting/make you happy.
@Abhiram I understand what you are going through. And I know how difficult it is. I can say everything you said is exactly how I fell and going through for years now. And it doesn't seem to get better. but I have focused my mind on a goal and it's distracting me enough. Gardening has helped me a lot, seeing the seeds turn into beautiful plants is the most I can feel connected to living being. Also I have niece and nephew now, trust me children are the best distractions, from the worst of the worst situations.
@Abhiram also, we don't realise this, but you matter to someone. You do. We don't see that, that's the limitation of our heart, but not reality. You will find happiness inside your heart. And that will make you stronger.👍 Just never give up. Because each day is a hope.
If we tell our boss we aren’t “feeling good” instead of “feeling well” he asks us to visit waiting room which is always full of fresh candidates lined up for interview, that will make you feel good he says... today in India There’s no such thing as CL no one is asking how r u? The only question on everyone asks is whether you r working../have a job? Here happiness & well being only comes by having a source of income. Depression isn’t for Asians...u will be termed as lazy & weak..!

@2821981Abcdepression and sadness is not the same, can you treat fracture by being happy? No right ? It's the same with mental illness. You can choose to be happy while in pain, but you cannot treat it by simply telling someone to be happy. Please don't be ignorant ! You don't know what mental illness is. Please never lecture this in front of someone who is suffering from it. For e.g Sadness is a mood and depression is a mental illness. BIG DIFFERENCE !!.
I feel like mental health issues are still considered taboo in some societies so ppl are scared of asking for help...especially with stuff like depression and bipolar disorder because they're scared ppl are gonna call them a crazy person. So maybe the first step to take would be to make ppl realize that mental health problems are common and work from there
@ Well, we all are different and we all have different lives. I've lost my best friend due to depression, committed suicide by hanging himself. Even I have depression. I talk myself out of suicidal thoughts every night and I'm afraid one day I might won't. It's just that, not all think those thoughts are childish. Because many can't escape their own demons inside them. Having depression is not easy and it's not easy to accept life as it is when it's never fair to you even when you try so hard to make something out of it. Because if you accept life as it is, to some it's what makes them depressed. So yeah, there you go.

Thanks a lot WION for covering this topic. I suffered from mental health issues very early in my life and my family was extremely supportive. I also got help and adequate treatment from a psychiatrist. I had mood swings and was on the edge(could cry anytime) but the positive part was that I never had suicidal thoughts.I also wrote my HSC board exams under medication and took stabilisers too. Ultimately, it all worked out and I have been leading a normal life without medication or any therapy for almost a year now. I have also become a much more confident and happy soul since then.😎 Trust yourself folks, all will be well and please ask for help if needed because there a lot people who stigmatize the issue but many people are understanding and helpful also.. Love and hope for everyone.😀 Thanks & Regards, Divya, From Mumbai.❤️❤️

Nobody cares in MNC and other big non-MNCs All they need is money & project completed on-time not even 1week here & there forget about 1week, not even 1 min here & there
True. Mnc software engineers never help each other even though they have it or its a simple help like sharing digital materials out of jealousy no matter how much we suffer. Hell them thats how i scold them in my mind.
Most of software engineer had mental illness including others related illness. So called MNC and big firm also doesn't bother about their employees,,, Just work like a animal be an animal get salary and get illness go and fix it within sat,sun repeat it unless u die. Nobody cares now, if this not fix then India will much worst than any other western and European countries,,, its already happened in China.
when we talk of mental health , we often talk about therapy. Yoga can help immensely which is also scientifically studied and proved. The awareness needs to be more.
By personal experience, what majorly made improvement in me it was writing my thoughts out and understand them. I know it is hard you keep repeating those and those thoughts in your head but after that you start to listen to the pattern of your thought process. Talking to someone won't help you, they started to give their own experience and blah blah reasoning but it won't. Depression can be cured if you are willing to do it by yourself. Keep your mind no matter what listen to some good people, go for a run. Sweat yourself alot no matter if you don't want to get up. Just go outside of your room inhale 4 am morning breeze and if you can't handle people find your silent place away from your room it could be your roof too. Changing your surroundings helps alot. And write diary too. Everyday ask yourself WHAT YOU HAVE ACHIEVE TODAY. I know this process is excruciatingly painful and slow paced but even if your are taking first step to change that is applaudable. ❤️
I had stopped watching news 10 years ago. The quality of content had become second-rate and intolerable. WION esp Palki is chaging all that again. Journalism is now sensible, useful and good to watch. Thanks a lot WION and Palki.
I was in depression for 6 months and when I came out of it I a more mature person.. Still I fail I cry I broke at times but best part is I can say I know how it feels like.. And I understand :)
Trauma not just coz anxiety and depression it breaks one from inside, you feel like everything is dead inside you, they say talk and seek help, trust me no one can help you because most people don’t understand what you are feeling, they are there to judge and hurt you and question your choices and decisions , so just wake up urself stop being bothered about others, take care of yourself, live for self before living for others, do things which makes you happy and if you find a listener who is willing to listen without heavy fees or exploiting emotionally, physically or financially you may talk to such person. If not books and music. Please breathe and remember everything in the universe is going as per its own will so just strengthen your will power n rise. Lots of love, prayers and well wishes to you all who is fighting this silent battle everyday.

In India no one is even bothered about mental health ... ... especially in a pandemic. I am a single mother, jobless it's more than a year now no option to get a job anywhere as over experienced, do not have a job in a specific domain, pandemic brought new criteria of age.I have a son pursuing his UG program in science and a sick mother to take care of.. exhausted all my resources and breaking down seeing the possibility of getting a job .. I m becoming hopeless ..but I can't seek help myself cant go even anywhere cant take to anyone.. no help anywhere m getting .. m house arrest and if my landlord throws me out I don't know where I will go . On top of it facing exploitation in the name of job .. In India, no one bothers about mental health .. I m breaking down crying every now and then .. i have no clue whats going on with me.
This is what happens when you live with somebody, he/she commits suicide, and then you and family members start gathering information and learning about depression. It should be the other way around. We all should be ready to speak openly and freely with mothers, fathers, and friends about how we feel. We should all stop using the term 'crazy' as a synonym of mental health. Excellent video. Excellent topic.
No matter how many news covers it, how much people talk about it, people still tend to hurt each other to depths that lead each other to depression (sometimes suicide too)
Much needed topic. The last point hits right in the nail. "We need to De-stigmatize" mental health issues. That is the right way. Struggle to find the right therapist is also very daunting. I had the worst experience with 3 different therapists and now I am kinda hesitant to start out again. I'm convinced that there are significant percentage of people are in same category as me. Many therapists are there to milk money from you, some are there to judge you and old-age-splain you all the time. Some are not wired to understand your struggles. It's very much easy to put-off the silent struggles and distract yourself than taking concrete actions and face the demon. One welcome change that I would really like very much in India is, In the first appointment, patients must get to interview therapists. To have assurance that, the therapist can understand and speak in a way comfortable to start the mental health journey. This will assure the client to continue the journey and the Doctor will be conditioned do give their best all the time.
One needs to go for a psychiatrist first for initial assessment and management then depending upon the need of the illness, he/she will be directed to the therapist ( clinical psychologists) for varieties of therapy specifically designed for individual mental illness.
Most people gets confused between a psychiatrist (clinician) and a psychologist ( therapist). Both are different yet address the same mental illness from a different way.
@@vishwa5315 Honestly, I don't know of anything that you just said. I visited a psychiatrist once, and 2 different psychologists. They never told me of any such procedure.
@@shivathirunavukarasu9770 Psychiatrist (clinician) does the initial assessment and determines the diagnosis and to rule out the potential immediate threats to oneself/others. Medications and hospital based care/home based care can only be prescribed/advised by the psychiatrist not by psychologist. Once the diagnosis is established by the psychiatrist then s/he is referred to a psychologist for the therapies which will be illness specific.
This video makes you my hero. Sharing to all my friends. I was on Satyamev Jayate Attempted suicide and then worked for suicide prevention. This is important. We must talk. We must allow people to express. We must listen, without judgements. Let us please allow normalising this issue. Thanks Palki.

nah it's way deeper than that. Up until recently, I didn't even realize that I had mental problems. Especially when you are from a third world country then accepting having such problems is not even an option. You just have immense pressure to stand out in "life" and even it's useless trying to explain to not-so-educated parents, they will just laugh it out and will rather suggest to focus and word harder for a better life.

During my teenage I had similar thoughts & then I thought...(This might sound cynical) “no expectations...no disappointments”
Now especially, post pandemic, most people r fighting their own battles that their frnds/family know nothing about!
The only person who can help you is you, some things that helped me was...
Limiting use of social media,
writing a diary, using TH-cam algorithm to your advantage, like if you watch one motivating vid it recommends you 10 others make sure your feed is full of positivity & things that you find interesting/make you happy.
It's mainly because some people even mock someone when they claim they have depression. Mainly in India.
I have also become a much more confident and happy soul since then.😎

when we talk of mental health , we often talk about therapy.

Excellent topic.
in India. me - daddy I am depressed
daddy- abhi se.aage kya hoge re(laughing)
me - i will never talk about my mental health to a human begin again
Bhakti, bhajans, chanting slokas, mantras, Pooja, jaap, Hanuman chalisa, vruth, Yoga, pranayama, meditation,.. are stress relievers for FREE....
They didn't work
@@anwesh510 only Bhakti works for stress management...all other ideas FAIL.
No matter how many news covers it, how much people talk about it, people still tend to hurt each other to depths that lead each other to depression (sometimes suicide too)
Sad reality
Avoid toxic people. When you notice them, cut off. Being diplomatic can lead to further complications.
imextremely humbled by steve irungu jermaine
Take a bow lady. You are talking such taboo subjects in a society, making us to think deeply and open up. Each episode is an eye opener.
Very very important topic. This is especially relevant for people who are from educated middle class back ground
To me Palki Sharma Upadyay and Gravitas on Wion are synonymous to
Each Other.
You are amazing. Thank you for helping us know more about this world. God bless you.
A fantastic and true report about the global human condition! Thumbs up.
@@vishwa5315 you really expect a psychiatrist will refer me to a psychologist ? And pave way for reduction in their revenue?
@@shivathirunavukarasu9770 Psychiatrist (clinician) does the initial assessment and determines the diagnosis and to rule out the potential immediate threats to oneself/others. Medications and hospital based care/home based care can only be prescribed/advised by the psychiatrist not by psychologist. Once the diagnosis is established by the psychiatrist then s/he is referred to a psychologist for the therapies which will be illness specific.
Unfortunately in India talking abt such things is considered too western/high profile and is ignored.
Admit it !
Your content writing is highly efficient n effective.
Even with unusual words...
Its with clarity.
I wish you did all the reports 🙏😇
Am loving your point blank approach to topics.
This video makes you my hero. Sharing to all my friends.
I was on Satyamev Jayate
Attempted suicide and then worked for suicide prevention.
This is important. We must talk.
We must allow people to express.
We must listen, without judgements.
Let us please allow normalising this issue.
Thanks Palki.
I love following most of your topics and have been viewing them again.. I admire you Palki and the way you deliver all subjects.
True journalism "palki Sharma upadhayay "
Im so glad for you to bring this out and talking about it especially in times of covid when one can’t predict the future and when you become more responsible about the health of your loved ones, it becomes necessary to be aware of mental health as a real thing and start working on it. I wish every news media thats been so negative over the past months could take into consideration about spreading such awareness and deliver positivity and not be suckers for TRPs
I am better now...by doin meditation ,pranyama and yoga..I wish I knew the solution before
This channel is thousand times better than the so called regional news channels...salute to your NEWS ideas..

Sending Palki &everyone over at Gravitas a huge heartfelt THANK YOU for talking about this! 🌈❤️
Journalling helps, if therapy is too far.
EOD we need to dump our thoughts somewhere to make sense of it! Hope it finds any soul which is open to healing themselves🙏 all the best! And don't forget about spirituality (not religion), it gives you the much needed perspective of the things going on around in your world
Wion is really doing some serious good job. It's talking about the neglected but important topics like those of women status in the country, Mental health, Economy, Consumerism, International relations, Native Language, need of Innovation, Education system etc..... Great going Wion.. Keep it up.. And this lady Palki Sharma made me fall for her... Love u lady.. What a spectacular presentation.... ❤️

If only it were as simple as communicating with one another. But reading the Live chat makes my heart sink.. so little actual Love and concern.
Don't care about what others say we should look for our wellbeing

I hear you, but I have a strong affinity for compassion towards those who are incapable of sorting through the piles of tissue papers being tossed around as research by Big Farm "A".. who literally become our Owners via our dependency upon their Industry.. soo 🤷♀️
Thank you Palki, very important topic.
All human Have a soul, We need The strong connection with the source of Real, Truth spirituality, for our good life.
these are the kind of topics news channels should be discussing in the prime time.
One word describes the whole issue " Social media"
Nah bro I barely spend 10m on social media and I still got mental problems.
@@sanskarkumar1614 i feel u
nah it's way deeper than that.
It goes deeper than that
@@alanwalker5845 It depends from person to person irrespective of country .Even if your parents are educated and you belong to a first world country , people are suffereing from mental issues . Our minds have been hijacked by social media and various companies which try to sell us products .We survive on dopamine now , we are slaves of it , i hope it will soon be imprinted in genes also.
It's a constant fear of loosing your mind when you have debt in one hand and the loss of job in another
good evening . watching from PH
Thanks for discussing today's most burning issue..its now affect our young generation mostly....
Depression in Depression is absolutely real but some people like Deepika make it an agenda for the sake of sympathy! Which is totally not acceptable..
Get over your grudges
Deepika padukon was taking cocaine when Sushant Singh rajpoot died and ws involved in drug case and was in police hands she had no depression cocaine is the depression she could have got help instead

Palki speaks on issues needed!
Thank you Palki & WION 🙏🙏🙏😃😀
Real reporting at work here guys. Bravo 👏
In my opinion ,a lot of mental health problems come from pollution ,toxins, and stress ..being cut off from feelings and the healing of the soul....and lack of creative expression ...as well as those mentioned.
excellent article Palky I have great admiration for your courage and daring to put a finger on a problem ,taking it out of world denial ( which includes hoping someone else does it )
🥰
I experienced a strange thing...when i use mobile phone all day in my room and get out of room i feel alone and low mood....but if i spend whole day watching TV in drawing room with my mother and interact more with friends then i did not feel low
Dear palki madam,....
Your voice is bold and with authority...
