I LOVED the part about Cilvanis going off about the "it" factor about acola. It never really sat right with me when at times he was considered the best, but it just feels different from Spargo or Leo
Maybe it's the bias against Steve I have and how oversaturated the character is, but it just feels off when compared to other top players. I feel like everyone I consider top players has the it factor with their character, like Light's Fox or Tweek's Diddy

Idk when Ultrank drops but you guys need to do an episode where each of you give your definition of "best player". This community talks about who's the best without even defining what it means.
They can't define what it means because there isn't a proper ranking. It is a simple thing and that's how it used to be until Panda was dismantled. Which is the community's fault
@@lokks2130 UltRank is the successor to the PGR (said by Practical TAS himself who was partially responsible for the PGR) so in a way there is a proper ranking. The issue is that a lot of people make their own rankings now.

@@SeriousStriker People making other rankings isn't the issue. People _moving towards_ other rankings is the issue, and that's because UltRank doesn't have the same prestige as the PGR had from Panda's status.
Status is important in order for something to be held as "official". My point stands.
And the reality is that UltRank is just a continuation of OrionRank/EchoRank. I myself consider it the best and the "official" rank, but a lot of other people use other rankings.
Especially now that Acola and Sparg0 are both so close for no.1, without a firm "nothing else matters" ranking and many rankings saying different things, people are going to go to the ones that align with their opinions more. It's too vague.

Even in the comments people aren't bringing it up. Tweek Talks brings it up sometimes, Lights Out has been bringing it up. People are trying to speak out, but it never seems to get momentum. What would it even accomplish, it seems too far gone to recover from at this point.

The talk of a Nintendo standardized tournament is interesting. It makes me think about a competitive ruleset where items are off, but FS meter is on. I wonder how that'd play out.
It'd be if every character had waft. I think it'd be worse honestly. The meta would just be what the meta already is (high damage ease of use), but with a bigger focus on early kills, less Pams and more wolfs, more robs who master tods.

Panda global was the best thing to happen to the offline competitive scene of ult honestly. Not just the tournaments, the connection between trad fgs and smash was right there. Smash could have been eating from people who got into fgs off of mk1, sf6, and tekken 8, but thought it was too complicated, it could have had a legit seat at the table.
What tournaments? They didnt host anything. The reason why 2023 is barren is because VGBC is barely alive and BTS went under.

I think the smash community should take a close look at other games to support. There are other platform fighters, but people keep abandoning them. If the smash community wants to last, it needs to invest in games that are developed more for the fgc (rivals 2, rushdown revolt, flash party, etc)

People get this mixed up a lot and I want to do a bit of clearing up here.
Passion or Motivation, these are very daunting and complexive concepts
Its explained to be a feeling you get when you combine Wanting to do a task and Focused Energy.
However, to get to that state people seem to confuse the idea that Passion and Motivation is created solely through this random burst of energy we call motivation, which often time ends up dying in a day or a week to most people and can last up to a month for some.
Motivation how do you get it? Yes the need to see results significant enough to matter is important, yes energy is a part of it, but the missing piece people dont understand is...
Self Discipline
This is what most people are missing, this is the key ingredient that creates Consistency.
You need to learn to be self discipline, but the human body and mind work together to get you to chase after dopamine, but through ease of access means. Whether that be cheating in a video games to show your friends you did something they struggle to do but not rightfully earning it, getting notes from someone who used to be in the same class as you are now to make getting A's easier, buying food from restaurants and eating it instead of cooking a gosh dang meal!
The common theme with these things is that you're actively skipping the Grind, you're constantly wanting to shortcut your way to success or dopamine.
Doing so, you teach your brain that the best way to get dopamine is by ignoring the Process part of a goal and getting straight to it by cutting there. You want the reward but not the work. This is what you teach your brain when you watch tiktok, You are literally watching someone else do what you wish you could be doing and trying to live their life through a screen instead of working towards that lifestyle they have. Btw most people tend to fake their lifestyle for views, its a views hack, because people are too busy being wow'd by other people's success.
Everybody wants to be a content creator and reap the benefits, but not everyone wants to go through a long 2-5 year journey to that success.
Everybody wants to be a pro player but not everybody wants to grind for 6-10 hours a day perfecting a tech, or perfecting a sequence of hits so that you dont miss it in tournament and you react to the confirm in tournament.
If you want to get motivation, you have to Grind, because when you Grind, you teach your brain the pattern needed to create consistency.
So TLDR: If you want to be motivated, you have to grind, teach your brain grinding is good, and because you taught your brain that grinding is good, you wont feel the need to ignore consistency and try to skip levels, instead you'll want to actually keep becoming better and so you actively want to now grind.
So in Content Creations Case, you want to keep making content, doesnt matter if its not your best content, you keep making content that even your shitty content is your good/consistent content, and then when you have so much EXP in content creation and you did all the consistent research behind the scenes, you have those moments where you make that one video that pops off, and then you keep grinding, then you learn how to make videos that pop off like crazy and then videos that pop off is now your new "good" content.
Take a look at Mr. beast, take a look at Ryan Trahan, etc etc. Of course the topic of video matters, but there's always a way to make smash videos entertaining there are people who know how to make smash melee videos pop off somehow. And I know for a fact Cosmos can make entertaining videos, he's done it before, videos that have popped off. Not all the time, but he's done it, and he can do it again. Just dont give into the temptation of wanting to "take a break" not until you've mastered the art of being consistent. Cuz light takes breaks from smash, but he comes back swinging, and Sparg0 did the same thing, and he's now arguably the best in the world in Smash Ult. These 2 know how to be consistent.

I think people jumped on panda way too early. The smash community is very fickle so I understand why Nintendo probably doesn’t want to sponsor tournaments. Maybe they’ll sponsor some in Japan since the scene over there isn’t as chaotic
