Man, losing that riot game sucks. Smash needs more high quality games in the platform fighter genre to prevent stagnation and encourage innovation. Without it, look what happened to Pokemon games since not even Persona can put a dent into the domiance it has in monster collector rpg genre.

To add to Zomba's losers run. EVERYONE he beat AK, Peab, SHADIC, Wrath, Kola all had beaten him the last time they played. Some of them even had a pretty lengthy winning streak on him. This alone was VERY impressive to me and had he beat Mute (who also beat him the last time they played) this would have been one of the best losers runs in ultimate history, not by length but by player matchup. So congrats to Zomba for that 2nd place, Im sure soon he'll be seeing those 1sts again!
Zomba low key does better than I expect every time he plays. Not hating either there's jus so many good players lol but yea zomba really got it. Glad he got a team well deserved

Do people not realize that Cosmos’s rant about the ranking system is literally solved.. by the ranking system? The cutoff between a national and a major is the line between a B+ and an A tier, that line has been drawn for years now. Similarly, the “tiers of majors” are clearly lined out, with A and A+ being majors, S and S+ being supermajors, and premiers being P tiers.
I don't think we're getting another P tier until the next game

I think Cosmos NEEDS to read the doc that explains how Lumiranks works. It makes a lot more sense if you actually look at it. Lets be real, the difference between Tweek Light and old top players and high level players like BMP, Lui$, Peabnut are not nearly as much as pre covid. Not to bash Cosmos, but he has a bias on majors needing someone of household name, when talent wise, it's unnecessary.

I feel like more than anything, a tourney being a major has to do with quantity of players while the tier has to do with the quality of the players attending.

The tournament’s status should depend on how many top players (top 100) attend.
Example:
0-4 C Tier
5-10 B Tier
11-15 C Tier
And so on,
Or you can do top players bring prestige points, Example:
Player ranked 1 is worth 200, player rankedq 99 is worth 20,
Event has 500 points - B Tier
1000 points - A Tier
1500 points - S Tier and so on,
It would help if the Lumi rankings had information and criteria available so we can easily determine what’s a major and what’s not,
The lumirank's methodology is public. They're not hiding anything, you can find exactly how it works. And it turns out it's far more complicated and complete than what you described.

He's been winning smaller events in Mexico, a lot of C tiers for like 2 months straight. He had 2 bad Japanese tournaments and then literally went back to winning everything he entered.
@@Uran10 C tiers don't matter much. And Sparg0 wasn't winning everything before. He was making top 3 a lot, but not winning. He got outplaced and beaten by Sonix in the only two tournaments that both went to, and Sonix got second or first at every other tournament he entered. Sonix should be the number 1 seed, objectively.

Doubt MVS was an influence.
As someone who has never touched a RIOT game, they were practically guaranteed to get my money for their platform fighter. I was excited for it. It would have to be very flawed for me to not play it.
MVS wouldn't be a good comparison. The beta was flawed in its engineering. Returning over half a year later, people were excited. Then the game came back to us all weird and filled with issues.
I think with Smash, they know the market is there. My guess is they didn't feel they could serve up something worthy of their own standards. I bet they scrapped to refocus efforts where they felt they could do something great
