How do you pay road tolls and carpark fees in New Zealand? Thanks

I paid for parking in the city with my credit card "Pay Wave" after using the Parkmate app to find the best prices. In the country parking is mostly free. For tolls my rental company handled the Toll Roads Tag/Pass within the car so I didn't really have to think about it, the price of highways in total for 8 to 9 days was about $25 to $30 NZD, and I drove a lot.
