Sam, need a talk about what is going on at Tesla...layoffs, Drew quitting
He will only talk about the positive news of Tesla
Yeah, I was looking for that video!
Nothing?!!!
Oh look, the speculation bots have arrived.
If you don't know what is going on at Tesla... then there is some thing wrong and that is not Tesla that I am refer to.
Just bought a new ATTO3. With dealer cashback and Qld Gov rebate $A42,000 - love it. My son has the dual motor Tesla - insanely quick but more likely to get you into trouble than out. I actually prefer the more mild regen braking on the Atto as well. I'm fairly disciplined with how I use brakes - never worn out a set of linings in car and trucks in my life. The brakes outlast the car. So the Atto is great for me. I only use the brakes that last few metres before I have to actually stop. My grand kids prefer the Atto to the Tesla.
BYD's build quality is crap. You will find out soon.
@@stefan2796I drive the seal , and its stunning compared to tesla and ive driven them for 3 years.
Hope you still like it after 12 months . Obviously you don't any more than 100 ks a day .
@@stefan2796 My experience so far is the BYD is better than the Tesla I've driven. Not as fast but I've only driven my ATTO and my son's dual motor Tesla. I can't really comment on how long the BYD will last. So far it feels really solid and well built. When that 1000k battery comes out in the BYD's, why would anyone want a more expensive Tesla?
@@stephentormey5361 No I don't,. Well on some days I do. I'm liking it more and more. I'ts feeling like an extension to my brain I'm so linked to it. The build, I think is better than a Tesla. My son and brother-in law have the dual motor model 3 and it's pretty rattly compared to the BYD.
Congratulations to Australians for getting these marvellous prices. Australians may look into developing the recycling industry for EVs so that in the future the country can be a hub for recycling all left hand drive EVs.
Recycle your own garbage lol
Great thought.. It could become a supply of batteries for home 'powerwalls'....
Time for that video about the Tesla layoffs, mate. 😮
He thinks he still has a job.😂
Balless Viking 😅
He has one that's members-only
Chris Norland has the clips on his site for all of our amusement.
Here in the U.S. I can buy a Camry for 26K. The30K Seal still seems expensive.
If you sat in a Seal you’ll want it over a Camry, also running costs make it much better value.
A Camry is only an ICE. They do make a hybrid too I believe. The Seal is a pure EV and it’s stunning. I can’t believe you’d make the comparison based on only US$4K!
@@LouDeVere Camry belongs in a museum.
If you calculate the cost of a Camry for petrol, changing engine oil and air filters as well as annual tax then you will love Byd Seal even more! 😂
Cheapest Camry $27,515 plus taxes, so about $32k
I tought this channel already shut down as announced earlier:))
You must have made it through the latest 10% cut.🤣
Cheap for most people would be $30k for a new car, none of this $50-70k INSANITY you need a mortgage for!
Looking at getting an EV in Australia, I'm very happy that I'm not in the US. Between Volvo, Polestar, Tesla, MG and BYD, I'm very happy with the current choices.
Meanwhile the American and Canadian consumers are stuck with Vinfast, Ford and GM.
Hope Australia will become next electric car Norway
@@hermesliteratus882 Some those Vinfast cars look decent, unfortunately can't get them in Australia. We also don't get Model X & S.
Still publishing?? Talk about what is going on at Tesla, not about the bad others do. Tesla lays off thousands, loses management, stops production of truck for quality and safety reasons. So where are you?
...he's going to make another "game changing" Toyota expose....
Chris Norland has the video clip on his site which covers the promised shutdown of this site.
Im thinking its gonna be a good time to buy an EV. All the global competition and negative stuff..Despite all the advances and infrastrucure improvements coming. If you can charge at home especially.
Sitting out the back of my brothers house at Kensington Adelaide I could smell diesel fumes outside EV's for everyone.
Hang on! The seal is 'only' $30k in USA and that's cheap..... But $50k here IS NOT CHEAP ! A Camry was only about the $30k here a short while ago, pre co-vid. Remember, while the batteries in these things are substantially cheaper now, these things still have no clutch or gearbox so should be getting MUCH cheaper here.. About $30k more like it. - They still are not cheap!
Poster stated he was shutting down his channel if the Tesla lay off story is true. Well it is and he is still posting. It was a very stupid remark to make. You need the TH-cam ad revenue.

Who cars. U never said anything dumb. ? This is my go to channel to glean info on EVs industry. Awesome
It’s true that Cybertruck production requirements are falling?
Hi Sam, here in Spain we heard you were closing your channel if the layoffs in Tesla were true. Is that correct? 😅
I demand Tesla news My friend 😂😂😂😂😂
There are a lot of Chinese people in Australia that will be happy to buy Chinese cars, although many of them are driving around in Mercedes, BMW, Lexus.
My daughter in Melbourne just bought a new Hyuandai manual i30 on road cost just over $28k. Thats a lot cheaper than $50k
I look at EVs and think that’s $10000.00 a year of after tax money I’m saving just in fuel. Converting my Defender to Spark-Drive very soon.
A man of his word!😂😂😂😂
lol ev making going bust . i love you fossil fuel viking!
How is Tesla doing nowadays? I heard they are laying off a lot of people?
I didn't hear it on this channel though...🤣
they are -- although combined with the rumored "robotaxi" pivot, they might be laying off the people they had committed to work on the Model 2 effort....
Didn't you say if Tesla laid off thousands of workers you'd quit your channel? I believe you said "I literally am not joking, if that happens, I'm quitting youtube." Something like that.
If there are price wars and massive subsidy in the EV space, including dumping of vehicles on foreign markets, that means incentives at one point as well as subsidies are going to be cut.
When you buy your cheap Chinese car, you need to buy the car that will be around when you need servicing and spare parts, otherwise cheap becomes cheep.
Top selling car in Australia was the Ford Ranger, followed by the Toyota's RAV4, then the model Y. Tesla is in 5th place & MG 10th place are the only Chinese brands in the top 10. EVs are subsidised by the government.
China is a great equalizer and if your true goal is to make EVs ubiquitous and affordable, then you should really let the market decide and let the consumer decide on what's the best value. But then again, the overall boogeyman over all that energy and effort is the climate change issue and the health costs associated with that. So, you can't have it both ways in refusing to go for the cheapest tech available (Catl & Byd batteries) and complaining about lack of competitivity.
After the introduction of Chinese vehicles in Australia, the prices of both EV and ICE vehicle have dropped, and consumers are the beneficiaries of competition (including those who have not bought Chinese vehicles).
Just think about meteoric depreciation. EVs are like the early days of desktop and laptop PCs. 3 years and it's obsolete. Only this time you're dealing with a much bigger loss.
However, at least you had a warranty on your PC and didn't have to wait months for spares to rock up that were more expensive than the original asking price.
😂Sam Google the word LITERALLY!!! IT WILL BLOW YOUR MIND what it means!!
Literally blow his mind?
Price war is great for consumers
Guaranteed the price of these things would not be coming down if they were selling.
Take care for health.
We life in crazy times and the economic stupidity will hit us hard.
Nice to see the price war flow on for AUS, for all the people worried about Tesla layoffs, calm the farm, Tesla had 70,000 workers in 2020, ATM they have 140,000, the Auto industry is down across the board, remember Tesla are not just a car company.
I'd like to see how Chinese cars hold up in Australia, Tesla took years to figure out how to make a decent car and even start to deal with service and spare parts, I would not buy a car from anyone who only uses some import export business as their point of presence in my country, that already happened in the US with cheap Chinese made tires, people died and then when people tried to sue the people responsible "the Chinese company" no one was available but the company that imported the defective tires and they quickly went out of business, what will happen for the next Takata airbag type recall thing happens? All the import - export companies that are importing these Chinese cars will go out of business and the cars will never get fixed.
Apart from electric and PHEV utes, the RAV4 hybrid's dominance in the SUV sector will be challenged by the Seal U PHEV, if BYD can challenge Toyota on price.
For full BEV we won't see the magical 20% sales till prices come down to sticker price parity with ICE, and Australia sorts out the woeful and uncoordinated charging network situation.
Have you not closed this channel yet??
Where would the trolls go?
Why it's the best😮
All these EV car companies are reducing prices because they aren’t selling well, and losing money at a rapid rate. Tesla has done many fire sales but now laying off workers as a last resort to keep the company ticking along. There are tough times ahead globally.
Didn't you get the memo, mate?
bring the Chinese EVs to North America. We will buy them in a heartbeat. Cyber trucks are for wussies
Consumers need Affordable Cars 🚗 so better that price wars un going on among EV manufacturers 👍👍👍
It's good for the consumer being us.
how about Tesla layoff 10% in workforce?
Channel had not been deleted yet from someone who has so much integrity
Hope we get lower EV prices in New Zealand.
You can not exclude plug-in hybrids when you are making these sales comparisons.
Look at the markey in Mexico; we are getting flooded with chinese brands with amazing prices (MG, Geely, BYD, GAC, GWM, etc). The waaker legacy here are doomed or confined to a tiny market segment/share.
You still up.Can't follow your own comments on shutting the channel down?
Price wars will result in bankruptcies, less choice & higher prices. The car industry has been through this before & the outcome is not good for customers. I am worried for Tesla. It's a premium brand competing with cheap Chinese cars.
Winner? Consumers and the environment
Isn't there an extra tax on all car imports to support our non-existent car industry?
No EV is popular Australia, we buy utes & bigger SUVs.
You dont compare the sales of diesel & petrol cars.
I live in Brisbane & try spotting EVs, in the last appox 6 months seen 2 Teslas & 1 Kia. No rush to buy them here.
Global capacity to generate power from coal, one of the most polluting fossil fuels, grew in 2023, driven by a wave of new plants coming online in China that coincided with a slowing pace of retirements of older plants in the United States and Europe. The findings came in an annual report by Global Energy Monitor, a nonprofit organization that tracks energy projects around the world.
Coal’s heavy greenhouse gas footprint has prompted calls for it to be rapidly phased out as a source of energy, and all of the world’s countries have agreed to reduce their dependence on coal. Industrializing economies, particularly in Asian countries with inexpensive access to domestic coal reserves, have set longer horizons for their transitions. China alone accounted for two-thirds of the world’s newly operating coal plants last year. Indonesia, India, Vietnam, Japan, Bangladesh, Pakistan and South Korea also inaugurated new plants, which typically operate for two to three decades.
Disappointingly, even though AUS has affordable Chinese stuff, BEV sales growth has slowed. BYD's/ Ora's/MG4's, sitting around at dealers, yet ICE has grown more Q1. Not what i expected, at this point. Let's see what the year brings here.
Assume the upgraded Y will lose indicator/wiper stalks and physical gear selector etc. and as our NCAP follows Europe, it will drop to a 4 star safety rating? Will have an impact on fleet sales, at least. Discuss.
Until there is better charging infrastructure I won’t consider an EV, even if it is cheap
That is foolish as they are very cheap to run with no oil changes.
@@asajelfs8170Not at all, when I also consider insurance, depreciation, lack of battery testing stds, an EV is not for me… at least right now. Others milage will vary
ffs. bring them to North America. We want them
Free Trade😂
Biden and Trump say, in unison, NO.
Who is going to buy an Ora? GWM have been trying to see vehicles in Australia for over 10 years.
It is a mistake to think that the current slow down and glut in inventories of BYD, TLSA and others is indicative of consumers rejecting EVs. It is not. Rather, it is due to the current economic conditions of high interest rates and inflation. Many have forgotten that the Ukraine war increased fuel prices in Europe, which in turn brought about inflation. To counter that, governments increased interest rates, which further reduced the purchasing power of consumers for large ticket items. What's more, during covid, many offices and plants were shut down which created supply chain issues, and raised prices for cars (even bikes) and other items. This price shock was slow to be reversed, even when the supply chain issues were resolved and created an excess in deliveries, which the market could not absorb due to inflationary pressures. Finally, because North American legacy automakers are lagging behind TLSA and Asian brands in EV development, there is a campaign to brand them as too expensive and too difficult to service. One widely circulated story in Canada, claimed it would cost $60K to replace a battery in a Hyundai Ionic, because there was a dent found in the casing, a cost that was higher than the cost of the entire car.
" One widely circulated story in Canada, claimed it would cost $60K to replace a battery in a Hyundai Ionic, because there was a dent found in the casing, a cost that was higher than the cost of the entire car."...are you insinuating that story was not factual?...because it's been documented more than once lol...
@@puzer1 yes. There was an estimate from a single body shop, but no further information from other companies that were qualified to do the work or even attestation from Hyundai that a repair was necessary. Even the documentation shown in the video indicated that the unit price and to total price of the part was incorrect. Shop probably put in a ridiculous price, because they don't want to do the work; only want to be paid for estimate without dismantling the car. A battery like that, if it was completely destroyed would likely be $15-20K. By 2030, the same capacity battery will likely be around $6-12K because of the declining average costs. Perhaps it could be replaced with sodium ion, with no decline in capacity and a 40% lower cost.
Never believe what the electric Viking says. He can’t make up his mind about anything except that EV’s are great. If 100 people said EV’s are a waste of time he will ague how great they are
" Insanely priced" at $50000 A. for a BYD....isn't my idea of insanity? Or great value..... The CCP is backing BYD to the hilt and I am sure with low labour costs in China that BYD is making a healthy profit on thier prices.
$30000 A for a new BYD would be be a more affordable price..
Model Y is for uber drivers. My last 14 uber rides have been Model Y. All different drivers.
So glad to see the tesla layoffs.
VW need to pay for customers to take away their crap ID4
VAG/VW is kaput.
Tesla looks like a bar of soap left in the shower too long
Dated and boring and overpriced.
'Tesla looks like' is very lazy talk. They make several models and the refreshed Model 3 now looks much less soap like at the front. The Cybertruck is also the least soap like vehicle on the planet.
The small refreshes are good but it’s still the same old…
Most people also never get to see the Cybertruck outside of the US.
Here in Germany there are a lot of Teslas to the point that they’re boring but when you get to see a Nio or Byd. Oh my..😘
The rarity factor plays a role too
@@fredericoduvel3092 I saw my first ever Tesla in my area in the UK today. I checked the paint and panel gaps and it didn't look bad actually.
So Teslas are still rare in the UK?
cause of the left side driving I guess. Forgot about that.😂
If they’re few Tesla’s they look awesome and futuristic.
The rarity or lack of, influences the perceived value.
Do you know if it was China or US made?
They say Chinas quality is better but US made cars should be way better now too.
Car prices in Australia only go up. Because of greed and government taxes. There should be no taxes on electric vehicles.
Is the quality there in these Chinese EVs. Maybe not.
I think Polestar are also going to suffer big time. most of their cars are now almost AUD$100k or more. nice design, but not that nice.
They are ugly af. I don't get the hype. I do like their interior though. Personally for me car looks aren't a huge priority though.
Thanks for all your hard work Sam....The right fight
Tesla has never been able to build an EV below €40.000 in the EU, so the Chinese would win that cheaper EV contest with ease.
The masses cant afford a €40.000+.
Those "staggering" and huge "slashing" for Tesla prices we hear about since day 1, always turned out to be fantasies.
When that would have been true every time, the Tesla prices would start around €15k now 🤣🤣
The first Tesla model 3 started here for around €41k, guess what . . . . still is. And that €25k Tesla, . . . . never came.
I predict Tesla will never get Government approved robotaxis or level 5 or even level 4 FSD without having to add Lidar and radar.
Also I predict the Tesla stock price on April 1 2025 will be $ 94
We shall see.
It will be much lower than $94 in 2025.
Tesla cars are very good - buy the whole package charging, software upgrades, driving aids etc is EXCELLENT
their lost is your gain.
I think if u can make a big car u can make a small one. 😂
The common denominator is they are all electric, nor Chinese - are ICE cars reducing in price? No. How can you predict Toyota will be in trouble when they are not having to reduce their prices and not in a price war, that makes no sense at all. I know you are an advocate for electric but “alternative facts” seem to be behind a lot of your thinking
With the tesla y and 3 doing so well, at a pretty high price, i think they do have a problem. Their passenger cars at a lower price are not selling as well as teslas, and their high profit hilux is also being outsold by tesla.
Why the hell would China give a shit about how many electric cars they can sell to reluctant Australians who dont reallly want EVs.
Isn’t it obvious? There’s money to be made!
Show the both side of the coin

If world Oil prices rise up then EV adoption could be supercharged!!!
Sounds like Fascism.

it's not a LITERAL blood bath tho 😂 great video! 👌🏼⚡️
Hello mate
Elon should build a factory in Aus.
It’s good to see other makers with useful cars. Being in America i’m not likely to see a Chinese make soon.
Tesla quality is more value than price. Continuous OTA updates and fixes are great. Charging availability is great too.
Tesla’s looks for both the 3 and Y are really crying for the imminent updates.
Keep us up on the Chinese cars!
Obviously the US government believe that all Chinese EVs are national security threats.
brb its tea time
The Chinese EV price war is NOT YET happening in Mexico.
I have been watching Tesla for years.
Every few years they go though their staffing levels and reevaluate roles and head counts.
When that happens low info idiots claim its forced lay offs and the company is doomed .
Same old shite on here today .
No one cares about the layoffs...that is a normal course of business. We are more interested in the claims of "fake news" and I am shutting down my channel, "I promise" if Tesla let's people go.
Boring tesla over priced in stock value n lack of style innovation cry me a river😂😂

Sam you have fallen into the trap like many people currently of using LITERALLY incorrectly. There was no bloodbath.
Shameful, shameful cop out by Sam Evans and The Electric Viking. You brazenly promised to shut down your channel if the Tesla layoffs news was true. Then instead of owning up to your mistake like a real man, you show your face and smirk like nothing happened.
