When I bought your tourniquet holders last year they came with these tourniquets and I finally got to use one on a femeral bleed and it worked good. Also your tourniquet holder is still my favorite and everyone I have given one to still carry it daily which is the most important thing to me.

When I joined, we had cravats and sticks to. Got issued a CAT tourniquet on my second deployment. Im not complaining about any of the new trauma equipment thats out there because I remember when we didn't have it. As a poloce officer and EMT, I've got to see first hand how this new equipment saves lives. Years ago, I got a TQ for a guy I was field training. A few months later, it was used to stop a brachial artey bleed from a stab wound on a domestic. Get good training and use whatever you want as long as you get proficient with it.

Having messed with both the CAT 7 and the SOF T, my personal preference is the CAT. I just feel like it's a little quicker with less fiddling around. Just my opinion...

You have to hold the Strap?!! In your Teeth Micke Glover??? So it doesn't start sliding back the other way when Tightening it up?

You don't need to use your teeth. It does take a little more force to tighten the strap than a cat tourniquet but takes fewer turns of the winless then the cat tourniquet.

There is not "a EMT certified", or "AEMT certified TQ"... not sure what you were getting at with that statement. There is CoTCCC reviewed and recommended TQs. SOFTT-W is one of the non-pneumatic TQs recommended. CAT 6-7 are just as easily applied one handed to upper extremities and are a little less easy for the lower extremities. He is also accurate on the potential of loosening with the SOFTT. Loosening of a TQ is a big big deal and happens way more than people realize. The velcro is necessary in extreme bleeding as nylon like material can get very slippery. All this said, it helps to have training and then re-training if your'e not a professional in EMS. Once a TQ is applied, moving the patient comes next in TCCC, and movement can kill a bad TQ, and then obviously kill your patient. In my experience, I do not like this TQ for the very reason it can loosen very easily and the excess TQ dangling all over the place can shift the TQ when in patient movement. As a Paramedic and former Navy Corpsman a lot of non-medical people want to help and do a great job, but forget that TCCC is an entire framework to a medical scenario...so just applying a TQ because it is easier to store or apply is missing the bigger picture. CAT TQs in real life to me are still king. Just train with them more and you will be fine.

He's talking about NAEMT (National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians). They put out the training curriculum for the TECC course. They also do PHTLS for paramedics which is a required trauma course for working on the ambulance. AHA does PALS and ACLS for cardiac certifications.

Thank you for the response, and as a former military medic and current Tactical Paramedic I understand what you are trying to say... However, NAEMT or CoTCCC do not certify any tourniquets. So, I do not want people getting caught up on what is better or not based on a "certification" that does not exist. There are only recommendations, and either way, people need to train with whatever they have or none of that matters...was my only point. And yes, I teach all the classes that you mentioned in your comment to both military, federal, and civilians. @@HAMMERHEAD-g3h

Also, news flash, your daily paramedics and EMTs respond to way more trauma than the military ever thought about. They know way more about it. I can attest because I was in the military and work on the ambulance. Just because a military committee on trauma says something doesn't mean it's fact. Keep in mind, a combat medic doesn't even equate to a civilian paramedics level of training. It takes 2 years to be a paramedic. A combat medic is just a basic EMT with a little extra training.

Ummm, are you not reading my full responses? I know what you are saying, I am both former military and civilian Paramedic, and what you keep saying in your responses has nothing to do with the original post. I am happy you know what you said, I actually agree with YOU, because I am BOTH a former military medic and CURRENTLY a civilian Paramedic who works in the tactical space. You keep trying to educate me on something I never said in the first place. But, all the civilian tactical trauma courses come from the military experiences over the past 20 years of war. They even mention that at the beginning of both PHTLS and TECC. And no, civilian EMS does not ALWAYS see WAY more trauma than a military medic, but I see your point. But I have a feeling you are some how going to try to make another point I already said and agreed with, and thats just weird. And please understand, some "medics" in the military are actually nationally registered Paramedics...again I TEACH THIS STUFF TO CIVILIANS.@@HAMMERHEAD-g3h

@@YoungMoonShepherd I'm with you. I'm not trying to argue. It sounds like we have some of the same credentials so I feel you. I also teach. You know how TH-cam is, you never know who you're talking to and what their credentials are. There's a lot of BS out there but it sounds like me and you are really on the same page at the end of the day. If this wasn't a TH-cam conversation and it was actually in person, I'm sure we would agree with stuff.

@Don Filkins well, i hope some people do, who don't know a lot of TCCC and want to learn it the right way without influence of coffee -in-a-can drinking "Operators" 🤷🏼‍♂️
But let me guess, you're also sPeCiaL foRcEs?

Never trust anyone who claims to enjoy Jocko products. From his energy drinks to his whey protein, it all tastes like canned cat scat. 🤮
