    It's sad that most people will use a tourniquet before a firearm in their daily life but they'll pass up watching this video because it doesn't have the pew pew going on. Thanks for talking about the less sexy but more important aspects of EDC/self defense.

    Don't know how I missed this! Awesome video, thanks for the information. ETQs from Snakestaff should now always be in stock.

    I've heard the smaller Snake performed better. The SWAT-T and RATS work better on children and dogs. I carry them also because I have grandchildren with me more often than not. We lost a Warrant Officer from 3rd SFG group a few years back because non of the tqs we had would work on his big thighs....yes putting 2 together was done. Obviously to no avail.

    The rats is designed to be doubled or tripled over so you get that 1.5/2'" of inclusion. They have also been vetted in Africa and used quite a bit by a ton of 18Ds. Snake Staff made the smaller one 1" because when you cut open a CAT the compression band is only 1". The resting so far on them isn't bad but since they have not been mass tested there is no real data on them. TCCC tested the rats and came to the conclusion that it didn't work any better than the CAT do there was no reason to change however it did work in all their testing and that is why the Deltas are using them oconus. A lot of 3 letter guys and contractors are using the RATs as well due to its ability to conceal so easily

      Yeah they got sued bc they put TCCC approved on all their products. They also created and trademarked a company called TCCC to do so. FYI there is no such thing as TCCC approved as they only “recommend” products. They can eat a fat one and anyone that uses that product has a severe lapse in judgment.

      yeah and Tactical Respones who is one of the few trainers to actually incorporate medical stuff into force on force training for everyday private CCW holders has been very vocal about how after trying to self apply a CATS, Soft T or rats TQ under stress, Especially with one hand only, pretty much every student wanted the Rats either stopped carrying a Soft T or a CATS entirely or added a rats for one handed application. People forget completely that on TH-cam the guys demoing this stuff A. Are doing so with zero stress or muscle fatigue. And B. mostly have YEARS of experience, recurrent formal training and practice putting these things on. Many are still professional medics. Your average CCW does not have the time or money to become as proficient as someone doing it professionally. This is why the extremely simple to use RATS does so well and more complicated stuff that has to be staged and positioned just right for one handed application fails so spectacularly with the average person under stress. Also a RATS is so simply an untrained person can usually figure out how to apply it in a way that will stop the bleeding. I believe everyone who can should carry a CAT or Soft T wide for applying to another person or themselves with both hands and a Rats staged where you can get it with both hands for one handed self application. If you can only carry one it should be the RATS unless you are practicing on handed self application under stress of a CAT or Soft T at least weekly.

    Thank you for showing QT systems that are available. Self application is the priority number 1!! Secondary is another person applying the QT. Then elasticity is third priority to take care of swelling change. Forth would be damage to limb because life is primary. If you would show data or demonstrations for video this would help for to make an informed choice. Thanks again for your video.

    Interesting note on the standard width snakestaff, its pressure width of 1 inch is the same as the CAT's. I've been carrying a CAT for year and always thought it was wider, but its not.

    The Snake Staff's didn't do great in Prep Medic's testing, and aren't COTCCC approved. They have a nice form factor, but until there's some formal testing and evaluation, I wouldn't want to move away from the recommended TQ list.

      I have tested both versions at work with a doppler and both were successful at stopping blood flow. The 1" version needed an extra turn and was quite a bit more painful compared to the 1.5" but it did the job

    • @BenfromFlux
      @BenfromFlux ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Prep Medics testing is appreciated - but the 1.5" was not applied properly, and that can make any TQ fail. The 1" was applied properly, and worked perfectly in his test. That single test is the only Doppler or Ultrasound test that either ETQ has ever "failed" (again, strap was not tightened down, and then the windlass was not tightened enough on top of that).
