1.Its a Neon. The goal wasn't for it to have top notch interior. It was made in 2003. Look at other cars in the same segment in 03 and compare. The seats are nice and everything is simple and to the point. Mine doesn't make any creaking noises anywhere and I have solid mounts all around too on mine. 2. Compare the brakes to a base model 00-05 Neon and report back. You probably just need your brakes bled. Or need new pads and rotors. 3. Agree on the spoiler. But I think it is fine either way with it or without it. 4. I think a different front and rear fascia, side skirts, hood and spoiler is enough to make it look quite different. Plus they don't have body moldings like the 00-05 Neons do. What else is there to do to make it stand out more? SRT's team main goal was to make it the best bang for the buck car for under $20k AND to make money on it. I think they did a great job.
The interior is actually pretty decent and durable when you compare it to cars of that age. It is very disposable looking, but it is very easy to take it apart, that's a good thing, of cours with that come some rattles. Although some rattles should not be there. I drive on european roads so a lot of times i get a lot of potholes/old time brick roads where you hear rattles in all types of cars.
Some good points, although you have to consider Dodge wanted to make this the most accessible performance sedan, for that they skipped out on a lot of luxury that they could have added, but it would have made the car more heavy and expensive! And although it may feel so, you wont have to care about the brakes... i have run my srt4 quite hard on the Nurburgring even with 350whp.... some braided lines, Dot5 oil and Hawk pads are enough to drive like a maniac for atleist 2 full lenght laps. thats about 35miles!
dutchneon you make some valid points. The one thing that I dislike the most is the center arm rest that makes the worst noise if any weight it put on it. I’m gonna have to figure something out for that. I’m sure the braided brake lines would make a huge difference.
armrest is easy to fix, i replaced the hinge on it and now it doesnt flex as much. Would be an option to add some rubber lining to stop the noise. But i don't daily my car anymore so i never worry for any rattling when i'm racing
Lol it is a neon of course it is going to have cheap trash materials! Why would anyone remove the badges on an srt4? I guess if you really want to embrace the neoness of the whole thing lol. Same with the spoiler. And I think you meant to say that Wrx/Sti are a notable step above Imprezas... Srt4s are really cool and I dig them but of course they are neons on the inside, and they look best with a stock exterior for sure.
Tune In to be honest I have owned mine longer than 95% of the SRT owners out there. It’s all on how you treat it. Mine has higher HP and has seen many track passes including dozens of auto cross passes. Mine is still going strong. Maintenance is key, change fluids often. Good luck with the new purchase brother!
Tune In to be honest there really isn’t much. I would drain and fill the trans fluid, plugs and wires and a cam angle sensor. Always use Mopar brand with the cam sensors. One of the most annoying things to go out.
Great vid. I actually teared up when you mentioned some dickbag keyed your car. Fucking trash. As you know the beauty of the car is parts are cheap. If it's worn and/or broken replace the parts. The brakes also actually stop the car very well if they're 100%. The Wilwood kit MPX sells isn't much better then stock. Just better eye candy. Go with TCE or Stoptech.
njshift yeah it takes a different type of low to key someone's car, especially if you know they work their ass off to get it the way it is. For the brakes I will definitely look into those!
I'm going to look at an 04 SRT4 this weekend with 122k miles for $5k, appears all stock besides 2 strut towers and plug wires, would you recommend? This will just be a weekend car.
Derek Stubbs the thing about these cars you can get a decent one for pretty cheap these days. I would say if the transmission shifts fine, you don’t hear anything out of the ordinary from the engine and it doesn’t look like it was hacked up. I’d say buy it, they’re great cars. Easy to modify and easy to make power. I’ve owned mine for 13 years and haven’t had any major issues. Hope ya buy it! Good luck!
I, don't remember what year my brother's neon srt-4, & manual. but, I do remember his had a 4-wheel disc brakes. of course he changed the pads, but, even @ turnpike speeds or above, they never failed. maybe a bit of fade on the mountain roads going down hill. overall for the $$ it was an excellent foundation for tuners. my brother got his brand new. dealer wise, CHRYSLER STUNK.
Very true. For what they are they do a damn job. I just wish they came with Brembo or Wilwood brakes. That's one of my next upgrades. The only time I had problems was when I had her on the road course and had a bit of fade from the heat. I could have went up to a high fluid and that might have eliminated my issue.
Jhoan Cadavid thank you! I love this car so much. I’ve had it a long time and people just don’t understand how great these cars are. Congrats on your soon to be purchase, welcome back.
R u kidding me. The srt4 in my point of view is a good car. It will be worth a lot in the coming years plus it’s the first art brand dodge made. Even with its sqeeks and dis faults it has, its a first car made of its model and I like it a lot enjoy it on how it’s made and accept its character. To me I think it’s a nice car to have
That wasn't. One of the BP's near my house is like that. I hate it because I always think it is the diesel pump but for some reason the diesel pump is black and not green at some BP's.
F### the hater man and do u. i own a 04 black srt 4 (neon) and love it. I've had it for about 10 years and love every second of it. there still is no car like it with the power and potential it has not even my STI.
a SRT-4 having more potential than an STI?! Dude you are crazy....stock vs stock STI has more power...better drivetrain.....better interior....better looking....engine can handle alot of power on a stock block
Teng Lor i owned a srt4 and now a 18 sti. The neon is peer trash. That is why I dont have it any more. As for the sti being faster. Dream on. By no means is the stock sti faster. I am willing to bet a stock vs stock race. The neon would win from a roll. Hell it might even win from a dig. The neaon is also 500lbs lighter then current sti. As for engine strength that also gos to the neon. Cast steel block vs a cast aluminum semi closed deck. Google subaru ringlands, and other ej problems. The rest gos to the sti. Which car do i enjoy driving the most. I would say the neon.
wow didn't know the EJ got worst as the years past....I would think they would be better....glad I don't have to worry about that problem cuz I drive an evo8 .....to think I almost got an STI
Its really the pre 2011 ones. Many people have problems can usually trace their problems to how cheap they are. A Subaru is a not a Honda motor. They don't want to spend the money on a proper tune, and proper parts. I plan on modding my self. Nothing crazy. Just a few things to keep the engine cooler, a real header and a exhaust. So I wont have the subbie rumble, but knowing my engine will be runing cooler is far worth it. Once Im done I am looking at another 50-100 hp in the end. If I wanted more I would have a mustang.
Peter Dexter back in the day a lot people would go down there to just hang out and meet up before cruising to uni. Also a lot of burnouts and doughnuts happened down there😉
King D yeah I had a 95 neon for a couple years before I got this one. They are hard to find in good condition and not beat up. A lot of people have wrecked them.
Actually, that spoiler is totally functional surprisingly. Keeps the rear end in line at higher speeds in a straight line and in the corners. Its not like its a major difference in the straights, but it's definitely more stable. Love your SRT, wish I had mine still.
ADHDadditiv Thank you. I was curious if there is a small noticeable difference with having the spoiler. I'm going with a carbon trunk with a slight larger duck bill. Should look good.
Its fairly well documented on the forum. Also quite a few people who race them keep the stock wing instead of going aftermarket, though that could be due to them not knowing how to properly set up aero haha. I think I know the setup youre talking about, I've seen one with it and it looks great. Definitely sub'd to see more.
ADHDadditiv I'll have to look into it on the forums, I'm curious about it. Yeah this one isn't a carbon by design trunk but better and higher bill. Also the bill is molded in not blended. Thanks for the sub. I have been sick for the last week and a half and lost my voice. That's why I haven't been uploading 😞
WuzohHitsBills they are just some cheap reps I got for one event. I plan on getting rid of them next season. They are Drag Dr 44's. I got them at my old job (discount tire). I got them for super cheap, I couldn't pass for one weekend.
04srt4champ very nice, I’ve never had a break down though, in 12 years besides a cam sensor. My next big purchase will be a MKIV Supra but once I get settled in after the move to Florida.
All the stuff you "dont like" about your SRT4 is why it was only a 20K car... if you wanted better interior, fancier brakes and all that other crap then go spend twice the money and get a Subie or an Evo. But as you already know all that other stuff isnt needed, just wanted. Dodge did a great job stuffing some high performance equipment into their shitbox and making it highly competitive with the other tuner cars that were out at the time. I find your issues petty and it makes me wonder why you even bothered to buy an SRT4 in the first place.
the turning radius, oh god the turning radius
pballer2005 lmao so true
Where you at in Minnesota
I'm in the south burbs near the MOA.

Antonio Degas very true statement

Thanks for representing the srt4 team 💪
Jose Crespo #SRT4Life
Cool car looks amazing 👌🏻 thanks for making this helpful video .
Do some upgrades like a quick release NRG steering wheel
I plan on doing a wheel soon. I got some other things coming for the car first.
KTWilliams awesome can’t wait you can do a lot things to like big turbo ,body kit I’m working on mines
Jerardo Aguirre Yeah my old 50 trim is on its last leg. I’m looking a picking up a new Borg Warner.
does the transmission really go out on these cars? thinking about picking up one this weekend
What are the common problems you think should be upgraded right away?
Tune In to be honest there really isn’t much. I would drain and fill the trans fluid, plugs and wires and a cam angle sensor. Always use Mopar brand with the cam sensors. One of the most annoying things to go out.

The seats are literally viper seats with a different cover
Did you do the pillers in suade/headliner or is that a factory option
SuppaBee 392 I wrapped the pillars and headliner in black suede. Took a while to do it but it came out damn good.
I'm going to look at an 04 SRT4 this weekend with 122k miles for $5k, appears all stock besides 2 strut towers and plug wires, would you recommend? This will just be a weekend car.

I loved my sxt spoiler that I had on my 03 neon se because it was lower then the srt-4 spoiler
I, don't remember what year my brother's neon srt-4, & manual. but, I do remember his had a 4-wheel disc brakes. of course he changed the pads, but, even @ turnpike speeds or above, they never failed.

Car is super clean. I love it, very tasteful and not over done. Keep up the good work!
Clay Corbin thank you! 👍🏾
Very nice srt4! Are you out of St. Louis by chance??
jathen brown I appreciate it. I’m in Minnesota soon to be south Florida.
How do you keep your trim so nice
She's always parked in a garage and has never seen winter. Not too sure, I just take good care of it.
Looks great. Very nice car. I had an 04 stage 2. Going to be buying another in s week or do. Miss those cars
Jhoan Cadavid thank you! I love this car so much. I’ve had it a long time and people just don’t understand how great these cars are. Congrats on your soon to be purchase, welcome back.

I can’t believe no one else noticed he put the diesel pump in the car...
Subie danny I saw that and freaked out

tipptruck sounds like you got a lemon
Guessing the riverfront spot used to be a old uni spot back in the day
Peter Dexter back in the day a lot people would go down there to just hang out and meet up before cruising to uni. Also a lot of burnouts and doughnuts happened down there😉
I don't the bottom portion of the Viper inspired seats( the part you sit on).
It is so hard to find these srt4's I still have my 98 dodge neon
King D yeah I had a 95 neon for a couple years before I got this one. They are hard to find in good condition and not beat up. A lot of people have wrecked them.
What year is your srt4?
Cool vid bro. I subscribed.

Diesel??
Its bp backwards Colors
what rims do you have?
WuzohHitsBills they are just some cheap reps I got for one event. I plan on getting rid of them next season. They are Drag Dr 44's. I got them at my old job (discount tire). I got them for super cheap, I couldn't pass for one weekend.
That said good video
Kevin, think you need to look into new microphone, like one you can Clip on your shirt, Somthing that don't pick up the back ground noise.
will partch it's because I'm next to a highway. My mic is usually really good at only picking up me when I'm not in a loud area.
Neeeeeeeeon not srt 4.
i thought they came with brembos , my brother has them on his
I used to own one, I can say confidently, I'm glad I do not own one anymore.
04srt4champ why? I’ve owned mine going on 12 years and she’s been a great car.
KTWilliams I used to tell myself the same thing.
04srt4champ but why are you happy?
KTWilliams because I now own a jdm 6 speed single turbo supra, and it never breaks down. Unlike the srt4 at least 5 times a year
04srt4champ very nice, I’ve never had a break down though, in 12 years besides a cam sensor. My next big purchase will be a MKIV Supra but once I get settled in after the move to Florida.
Loud background noise and shitty music.. makes it difficult to hear you
