      except, you can't buy a throttle cable when yours breaks, because THEY'RE obsolete. There's also other numerous
      parts and pieces n these cars that are also considered obsolete. Like the fuel pump to tank gasket. Just wait till you need one, and find out.

    Still have my 2003 SRT-4, bought it brand new in May, 2003. 215k miles and original motor and turbo still. No smoke issues, just had the oil leak at the banjo bolt a few times, which will smoke and stink until you change out the copper crush washers. Mostly stock except CAI and Mopar/Borla exhaust. Had the 3rd gear grind, replaced the trans under warranty around 70k miles with a trans built in 2007 which has been bulletproof since. I think I'm on my 5th clutch. I replaced the original at 60k miles with a Spec stage 2 clutch which had issues, and replaced it with the (now discontinued) Mopar performance clutch after 10k miles when i had the trans replaced. After that I went back to stock OEM clutches and they generally start to fail after 60k miles. When replacing, make sure you replace the pivot fork & ball, the throwout bearing, and possibly the slave cylinder. Many of the original parts have lasted ridiculously long. I only replaced the original radiator, alternator, and power steering pump within the last couple years. I did have water leaks and rust issues unfortunately. Now I have a head gasket leak but patched it up with some Blue Devil. Not taking it on any long trips so I don't worry that much, just have to top off the coolant every so often. Car is still fun and quick for what it is. I used to swap between Max performance summer tires and Michelin X-Ice tires in winter, and this provided superb grip and traction. In snow, it was no problem ever, other than clearance issues. Now i just have cheap General UHP tires, definitely not as good as separate summer/winter setup, but not terrible for cheap tires.

      does 3rd gear grind always mean you have to get a new transmission?

      @@davidmaldonado4720 No not necessarily. I've heard of it being fixed by replacing shift forks and other ways. Lots of good info about it on the forums I'm sure. But the 03 and early 04 transmissions are prone to this issue.

    Can you find a modded one that's a good value & taken care of? Of course. But I mean, a stock one IS the holy grail. Most of these were used the way Mopar intended & were modded, raced, and driven into the ground. If you find a stocker, it's rare & will prob command 20-25k now if it's low miles. It's also far less likely that it was driven hard if it's bone stock. You then mod it for yourself.

    Putting an LSD in an '03 doesnt mean rebuilding the whole transmission... geez. And since you dont know if ones been added or not, then you shouldnt rule out buying an '03. Next there are no issues with tuning the 2003 PCM, I have had mine for well over 10 years and have pulled the tune on and off of it several times over the years. You just need to be patient, follow the directions, have a fully charged battery and all accessories turned off. A 2003 with the 2004-2005 injectors and a Diablo tuner and your at the same "stock" underrated HP as the '04-'05's. The multi function problem mainly stems to owners putting in bulbs that draw more current than stock and then melty melty. No 2003 had a sunroof, not an option till 2004. One little known 2003 difference, the alternator is a 180 amp vs a 136 amp for the 2004-'05's. And "because racecar" your best bet for buying an SRT4 is to try to buy one that is as close to stock as possible with 2 or less owners that didnt treat theirs like most SRT4 owners do.

    Im a 2003 SRT-4 owner. In Fact I am the very first SRT-4 owner in the world.
    Ask me about my rebates and more that the rest of the public missed out on just barely a couple hrs after it's official release. I got mine for $16,458.50 USD out the door with the Zebart rust protection. Yes I was the first purchaser, order, and owner...
    I appreciate your video for what it's suppose to be, but you're making claims, hand down assessments, and consumer buying suggestions without the proper credentials. To say one year was better than the other is minute. the only difference was rubber pedals in 2003, the quaife LSD, Moon roof, and a very slight power change due to S1 injectors n tuning. Thats literally it!!! The fuel rail I never heard about. Glad I have an '03 I guess.
    also the '03 having S0 computer is actually a plus if you plan on going with more boost later on and a piggy back PCU/Fuel system. Much less to work around. But Im glad I have the much more desirable fuel rail piece you mentioned. I never knew there was such a desired part on my year.
    The ACR is meerly suspension and rim size difference. the suspension will be upgraded quickly without thought. In stock form it will need to be replaced in no time. so it's not a decision maker. nor are the rims. The only desirable factor for an ACR is the VIN. My 2003 only had 3250 cars made that year. Mine is black. The other years there are more. which means less limited numbers. Its about total manufactured cars. and mine is among the most limited qty being a 2003. Still have all my original stock parts.
    Be sure to keep all of yours.
    I will never sell mine... But if you do, then keep all your original parts and put it back together for max resale.
    LOVE HOMMIE

    • @scottcount6861
      @scottcount6861 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Bruh, your third paragraph contradicts itself. You claim he doesn't have credentials to state differences between the years... But then you turn around and STATE the differences yourself. Wtf? And yes, 2003 is the least desirable year. The only thing it has going for it is that fuel rail, that's it and is literally a $100 part to slap on a 04/05. Much rather spend $100 on a fuel rail and have a damn Quaife LSD. And also, the 2003 has the least desirable PCM that can't be reflashed once it bricks. The 04/05s can.
      Plus, a 2005 Stage 3 ACR will be the most desirable car. Not your 2003. Sorry bud.

    • @themadhatter227
      @themadhatter227 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Scott Count The conversations I've had with tuners and aftermarket fuel systems was about the stage 0 pcm being easier to manipulate than those from '04-'05 and their S1 pcms. the injectors part I deleted cus obviously that was wrong. you need higher flow injectors to add more fuel for more boost. I apologise for that.
      I am embarrassed about the fact that I was drinking while posting. I didn't finish the whole video. I thought I had but I re watched the video and noticed I missed a shit ton more content. I'm sorry about that. The video was better than I had originally seen.

    • @themadhatter227
      @themadhatter227 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Scott Count Most SRT-4 owners I speak with on SRTFORUMS.COM prefer the S0 pcm for tunability. It's easier to trick.
      The differences I listed that concurred with his weren't part of the credential lacking statement I made.

    • @themadhatter227
      @themadhatter227 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Scott Count Also most tuners of SRT-4s dont want the S3 mopar upgrades. They want the big turbo kits players like AGP offer. So I guess it as always relies on thw opinion of the owners who upgrade to big turbos, bigger than S3 mopar.

  • @An0nmaus

    • @OctaneSlain
      @OctaneSlain  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'll need bigger injectors, the exhaust manifold, and a tune for the new turbo and fuel. But other than that, a stage 3 turbo kit is basically bolt on parts
