I've fought Pure Vessel more times than I can count, so I have a few tips! - I found it best to stay in the air as much as possible. It can be dangerous, but given how many of Pure Vessel's attacks happen on the ground, I think it's better. For the lunge and the triple slash, I jump over them and try to pogo. - For the nails (you know, seven of them in your general direction) I always dash towards Pure Vessel at the last second. As long as the Shade Cloak is available, it completely nullifies that attack and gives me a better opportunity to get some damage in. - Most of the time when they summon the nails from the ground, I try to pogo on Pure Vessel and dash away once the attack is over. - The Void Tendrils usually catch me off guard, too. If I'm out of their range I might send a few Shade Souls towards Pure Vessel, but if I'm not close enough to get above them, I just wait for the attack to end. - If you don't have Quick Focus, you can heal one mask when they're staggered, as long as you're fast enough. Same goes for the focus attack, as mentioned in the video, though you can get unlucky and have a smaller orb spawn on top of you. If you see one starting to form on you, abandon your own focus and get out of the way, because losing two masks is far worse than losing a bit of Soul. - This is a good tip for any boss: Stay near the center of the arena, if you can. The corners are crowded. - A good thing to remember is that you don't have to use the Monarch Wings to get over Pure Vessel during the triple slash, as long as you pogo. I tend to use the wings anyway, out of instinct and because it's better to be safe than sorry, but I don't think you actually need to. - Last but not least, the most helpful tip I can give for _any_ boss fight: Be patient and calm. Don't rush in to attack until you're confident that you can dodge anything they throw at you. Don't panic when you're low on health, just focus on getting enough Soul and healing when the opportunity presents itself. Don't get frustrated, especially; that can mess everything up. When I was trying to get the Radiant Void Idol, I remember multiple points where I kept fighting and dying to the same boss over and over, and it was _infuriating_ because I felt like I wasn't making any progress. But then I took a step back and realized why I kept dying; I thought I was paying attention, but I really wasn't anymore. Almost like I was trying to brute force it or trying to win by sheer luck. So I calmed down and focused like I hadn't been attempting it for nearly an hour, sort of refreshed my brain, and beat the boss within a few attempts. Staying alive--or better yet, not getting hit at all--should be your number one priority with bosses like Pure Vessel. Focus on watching the boss, seeing their telegraph, understanding the attack that's about to come, dodging it, and getting in a few hits of your own. Well, I have no idea how this turned into a rant about Radiant bosses, but hopefully it helped someone!
I agree with you 100% Also agree with your comment avoid the sides they are a death trap. If you try and stay within the middle area you then have the option of going left or right. If your against a side... those options are removed for you. I also agree with your comment if a boss or any fight for that matter is getting to you and your constantly loosing. Stop and think about it. Sometimes we think we are seeing when in fact we are not. Stop and look at it and ask yourself, where am i dying? is it always the same spot? in most cases you will find it is or pretty close to the same spot. The bosses do not have to be beaten in X amount of time, although for some granted if you take too long it does add extra which would be nice to avoid if possible ( an example of this would be Soul Master / Soul Tyrant if you do not get him in the second phase when he is resting then you go though all the down attacks again ) I keep coming back to this. But the Hall of God's in Godhome is a great and wonderful place to practice against any particular boss your having trouble with. They by default give you the 3 possible modes you can battle them on Attuned, Ascended and Radiant. Radiant is by far the most brutal. But, if you can beat all the bosses on Radiant in there... then the rest of the game becomes so much easier. Hard? yes very. But it is also very rewarding and lots of fun once you get it all done. At the very least in Hall of God's you should aim to have all bosses in there completed at both Attuned and Ascended mode.
@@RelyeaGaming hehe well fun for us maybe.... it is fast and brutal..... three words when playing on radiant..... avoid avoid avoid... only take opportunites when presented ... take a risk your gone it is that simple...
Do u get platinum if u defeat pure vessel of do you have to finish the pantheon of hollownest? Im also on 111% btw just unlockec pure vessel, he's no ashin ashina, but im getting nowhere in progress.
The bosses of hollow knight are super subjective: I personally have absolutely no trouble with bosses as Grey prince zote or the obbobles, but I took literally hours the first time with broken vessel, and most people I know found it extremely easy. It all depends in your playstyle. Good luck with them!
When i first started playing i beat xero no hit and thought that they weren't even a boss and they were just a tough enemy that i was going to need to fight later, and now oblobbles, markoth, and xero kill me entirely
I kid you not, I just reached him tonight (er, last night now, technically) and was thinking “yeah I’ve seen gameplay, he doesn’t look terrible.” How wrong I was. His nail hitbox on the lunge was much larger than I expected. His attacks were so fast... I died in a matter of _seconds._
@X4TERUMI Ye this boss isn't very well made... the tactic from what I've been reading up seems to be memorise the gap between attack as if you try to counter him after h starts an attack you will get hit by it. Some of them I've had some success shadow dashing through but his tendency to sometimes 3 slash or lunge twice in a row means that isn't reliable due to the CD, and again he is so fast that if you don't essentially dash almost as soon as you see him start moving the daggers will tend to hit you as dashing at them makes them hit you most of the time but you don't have time to see if it's that attack or another one, the second he's moving you need to be dashing. So ye, just an awful fight.
@@Barnesofthenorth What helped me avoid a lot of his attacks was not dashing to close to him during his knives phase. Sure you can get damage on him but you are almost guaranteed to get hit like 2/5ths of the time. Instead of floor dash attacking him during knife throws, I would back up , jump, and then dash towards knifes. This way you avoid getting hit by knives and his secondary attack. I literally spent hours trying to re teach myself this but it did work so that I could beat him every time.
NKG has NOTHING on this boss. This boss is BY FAR overly tuned. In damage, in attack randomosity, in hitbox size. This boss is the worst boss in the game.
@@brythewiseguy FACTS NKG is an absolute joke compared to PV And ngl, my biggest issue is that I always press dash but my controller/whatever doesn't recognize it lmao Always gotta press earlier than expected and that fucks me up Not a single issue against NKG tho
I did a healing build, with bauldar shell, deep focus, quick focus, and shape of unn. This helps me quickly restore health that I lost, and the bauldar shell protects me when I take damage while healing. (Sorry if I spelled anything wrong)
When fighting him make sure you keep your distance, the worst thing he can do is an attack followed by the 3 nail swings which you don't want. If you avoid him he'll teleport and do the nail swings which is more ideal as you have enough space to jump and pogo on him. Just a small tip
I actually used the shade cloack more than anything in this fight. There is just enough time to shade dash once every attack (the daggers attack is the only one that was hard to time the shade dash)
@@RelyeaGaming if you dash at the beginning of the attacks its possible exept the daggers attack which you have to dash a little bit later, the void tendrils you dont need to dash at all and the focus you only dash to get far away from him
Made it to PV the first time in P4 and obviously got destroyed. Started practicing for a couple of hours and I can now consistently beat PV without taking any hit thanks to this guide! One of the main things that drastically improved my performance was to STAY IN THE MIDDLE THE WHOLE TIME. Thanks Relyea!
I got to it and died in first 10 seconds so i went to Hall of gods to practice and when i finally beated it in Hall of gods i somehow nohitted it. Guess what. It was attuned.
As far as I have seen it works 100% of the time (from my radiant tries :P). When he is up in the air you should position yourself close to him. I suggest jumping at the same time he starts moving downwards as that gives you time for one extra attack. It probably depends if you are used to it or not but I always use a longer nail charm when doing Pure Vessel for consistency.
@@RelyeaGaming Pantheon 5 meaning Pantheon of Hollownest done quick??? ummm yeah.... sure.... you do know how many bosses are in Pantheon 5 dont you?? and remember too that ALL bosses in Pantheon 5 are in Ascended mode ( although not all do double damage ). A lot have more health, usually quicker, and some have vastly different arenas ( the most notable one here is Markoth it is simply horrible horrible horrible ), and the collector has a new arsenal he sends at you which includes primal aspids.... But I admire your optimism :) hehe
@@theelectronic00 you do not have to do all the bindings at once you can do them seperately.... but to be honest it then takes a loooonnnngggg time to do them all.. here is a small tip for you it may help you; Nail Binding: Sets nail damage to 80% of what you have or to 13 . Nail Arts are effected by this figure ( this was fixed in the last update to effect nail arts ). Shell Binding: Limits you to 4 available masks. BUT NOTE this does not affect Lifeblood masks or masks granted by Fragile Heart or Unbreakable Heart "hint for you here" Charms Binding: As it says it unequips ALL charms and prevents you from trying to equip any. Soul Binding: Allows only 33% of soul at any one time. Any and all soul vessels you have are disabled.
Love your hollow knight vids! You were my go to on my quest for 112%! Just wanted to point out that once you encounter him in the 4th pantheon, even if you lose you can go to the room at the bottom with all of the bosses and access the fight to get some practice without having to go through all of the other bosses again. Then once you feel confident enough and used to his attacks it’ll make the fight a lot easier in the pantheon!
I am so thankful for this guide. I barely beat the vessel wants by dashing through every one of its attacks. And then this made me realise I could jump and it became way easier. Thanks so much
Dashmaster is a fantastic charm for this fight. With how elusive the Vessel can be with his teleporting and movement, the quicker dash helped a lot with keeping up with them and ensured an extra hit or 2, but more importantly it also lessens the charge time for your Shade Cloak. It’s super helpful in Radiant mode if you accidentally struck the Vessel in his parry stance because it’s the most reliable way to actually avoid it (you could also do a super precise parry yourself but it’s hard to do consistently).
For the void tendrils, I like the go to the edge of the arena. There’s an invisible barrier that appears that allows you to wall jump and stay above the attack.
2 years later and at 111%, but finding it hard to beat the Pure Vessel. Thanks again Relyea. I hope you and the family are doing well. Merry Christmas 🎄
Thank you so much for this! Finally beat the Pure Vessel and not only your tips helped greatly, just rewatching the video before the fight every time proved incredibly effective to get me in the right mind space for it (the fights that precede on the 4th pantheon are incredibly distracting)!
I just wanna thank you man, literally tried fighting him in practice and killed him and tried and again and died. But then I was like screw it, I tried over and over in pantheon 4 and I finally killed him. I was very sweaty and tired but FINALLY PURE VESSEL DIED! :D
Quick focus with shape of unn are really useful. With unbreakable strenght, that leaves just enough charm notches for Mark of pride. Alternatively you could use a spell build if that's what you're used to.
So after tweaking gameplay from running hiveblood. I tried out your charm build and was finally able to beat pure vessel and pantheon of the knight. It really is true and took me over 200 hours of play to realize healing is a trap. Literally finishing these pantheons which I use to really believe I wouldn't be able to ever do. Thanks for your content man. You help us achieve goals that seem insurmountable to us and thats enough reason to do what you do imo. Keep up the awesome work
Anyone struggling with this that’s ok you just need to practice reacting to the moves and you will get slightly better each time until you can eventually beat it. I think the most important charms in my opinions are quick heal and strength. Good luck to anyone reading this!
been watching your vides on and off and i've gotta say thank you man. love all your guides and how its always straight to the point and informative as always man. hoping to be back on this channel once silksong comes out.
Man, I have been struggling with this all evening. 2-3 hours and I haven’t got to the tendrils phase! I think my key takeaway here is that I’m moving too much, trying to pre-empt his moves by being in the air already, instead of watching him and reacting accordingly. You fight him a lot more like how I beat NKG. I better change my style up when I go back tomorrow! Thanks for the video dude.
Relyea I did! After many hours of practicing. In the end I went back to jumping pre emptively, and eventually got the timing down. Once I had beaten him a few times in a row it only took 3 attempts at the PotK to beat that too :)
Lol. Just be very patient and calm. Use nail builds and try jumping over the 3 nail swing and sharp shadow dash through his dash attack. Heal during the bubble move and when hes down. Good luck!
@@ballthatbounces626 Yeah I know. I can do it ascended with my eyes closed. But for some reason when I get to it in the Pantheon I choke up. I literally have to listen to a math video on like calculus to help me focus lol
@@JamesB-yh2xx lol. I know. You get so used to the other bosses and you lose some of that practice and you also have the pressure of having to redo the entire pantheon.
Thank for this video, even in the future I'm on 111% trying for the full completion and PV just kinda locked me. I practiced well but the main problem is just one single attack: Soul Daggers from the ground. Never thought to just jump up to dodge him better! I always get really close in P4 and I get hit by the attack so much I don't have enough health to tank Void Tendrills when I get caught off guard and die (I always misread and assume he's lunging, dashing straight into the hitboxes)
This video somehow got me from from 10% of my attempts being successful to like 70%, and got me confident enough to go through the 4th pantheon, while the only thing that actually changed was that I started taking things more slowly. Gonna need to get a lot of practice in to get through to the final pantheon, cause a lot of the boss fights still look pretty ugly or have just gotten rusty, but at least it doesn't seem as impossible as it used to do.
@@RelyeaGaming It is done! I thought I had the worst out of the way if I could reliably get to the top fairly reliably, but little did I know what a massive wall Absolute Radiance would be. Also, as someone who got into the habit of using sharp shadow, the extended shadow dash length made this fight pretty unplayable, so I had to get rid of that one. I got a lot of help from your AR video. I probably would still be struggling on the phase after the 1st climb if it weren't for that one (4th phase, I think). I tried your Markoth vid too, but unfortunately I just couldn't get into the great slash habits. I almost choked away the final fight when I ended the lower phase with 1 mask, but by the time I started the final climb, I was back at full health and took it all the way to the top. At that point, it's gonna be pretty hard to still choke it away. Anyway, thanks a lot for the content! Couldn't have done it without!
It's amazing that I never watched this video from you, Relyea, because when I first played Hollow Knight four years back I didn't get this far. Now that I made it to the Pantheon of the Knight, this video helped me very much. I don't even know how many times I've already died to Pure Vessel, but I'm determined to beat them hahah! This is the second time that I've played the game, and I'm more captivated by this masterpiece now than I was before (if that's even possible...). Thanks again, Relyea! I love your content! ☺️💪🏻 EDIT: I just beat them!!!!!!! 👏🏻🥵💪🏻☺️
I see you're still making hollow knight tutorials. Now that's some dedication. I respect it dude. Yeah, I'm tryna find things to do until Silksong comes out as well, don't worry.
I just got to the 4th Pantheon, and this boss destroyed me. I usually try to start off new and intimidating fights by just trying to dodge first and find openings, and the moment I started to attack, I got demolished. Your Guide will definitely help, so thanks a bunch
Thank you Relyea... I was having so much trouble fighting Pure vessels triple slash and thanks to you I have finally started beating him consistently instead of feeling lucky. D:
You know what weirdly helped me a lot? I had to practice fighting the hollow knight without Monarch Wings and Shade Cloak to get the speed run achievements. Without those abilities you have to tackle their triple slash move differently since you can’t dash through it nor jump over it so you have to jump and pogo on them instead. Getting the timing down for that move helps soooo much in the pure vessel fight. Every time they do the triple slash you get two free hits, one when you pogo and one when you land, plus you don’t leave yourself vulnerable with shade cloak cool down. Would recommend practicing some repeatable moves like that on the Hollow Knight when their movements are slower, they use a lot of the same moves so it’s sorta like training wheels.
Great tips! I like to use desolation dive when he is stagger to dealt a bunch of "free" damage, since it hit almost every time with all o damage if he's not teleporting or doing a step back.
Man you save lives with content like this. Now relyea if you think this boss is hard try the last pantheon. I'm stuck on markoth because they tweaked his fight to have no floor!
@@tapfever7102 if you do the last pantheon of hollownest some boss fights are changed. Markoths has no floor. Only the platforms. So he is ridiculous. You can practice on him If you fight him in the pantheon and I think if you fight him ascended you can fight him with no floor.
I disagree. Shade Cloak-Sharp Shadow is always my ticket to win this fight. I've dodged everything with it. On the other hand, I'm not good at pogo and that's why I use shade cloak.
You 100% should use shade cloak and sharp shadow. BUT, if you shade cloak, you leave your self open to an attack. It should be used sparingly to avoid damage and not spammed
I love your content and your overwhelmingly positive and fun attitude. I can't wait till ss comes out just cause I'm sure we'll be seeing lots of tasty vids. Also congrats on the baby! :)
Recently, about a week ago, I got 112%, this fight was annoying, though something I found that worked was actually staying on the ground for most the fight, only occasionally jumping over Pure Vessel for repositioning, I found it much easier to shadow dash through most his attacks, only jumping over the void tendrils
OH MY GOD I LITERALLY BEAT PURE VESSEL JUST NOW ON LIKE MY 7TH ATTEMPT HOW??????? THANK YOU VERY MUCH ‼️‼️‼️ I guess all thag training I did to beat NMKG paid off !!!!!
Steady body is severely underrated, because ground slam attack has gaps in the rising daggers, if you stand or jump in the closet gap to the pure vessel and you get three or four free hits in. (Though risky, it's rewarding) Also shade cloak through the triple slash and you can get a free spell off if you fire at him after phasing through. (I done this on ascended and radiant for the extra damage) My charms for radiant pure vessel was: unbreakable strength, quick slash, Mark of pride, steady body and sharp shadow (over charmed)
1:10 I usually just jump towards him when he just slashed (or earlier) on the ground and start pogoing on him. Watch out for the pillar in the middle of him. I get 2-3 hits off of him. I recommend it. (I’m trying to help)
Thank for the video even tho I’m 4 years late lol. You just made me realize I need to take my fight to the air just a bit more I was trying to hard to rely on shade cloak and it has put me in to many bad spots.
Relyea! Super important! I have finally gotten to the pure vessle in the trial of hollownest. I havmt even gotten past markoth but I took out zote the mighty and km grimm on my first try. I've come back to prepare myself. Wish me luck and thanks for the helpfull video! Darn... I broke under the pressure. 2 more bosses. Such a good run.
@@RelyeaGaming thanks dude. I'll be rooting for you next time you do the pantheon. Take my word and practice the bosses. Like markoth, uumuu, nmk grimm, zote, and of coarse the pure vessle.
I just beat Pure Vessel, and I have one tip I don't see mentioned very often that was SOOO helpful for me. If you aren't making any progress on Pure Vessel, don't fight him. I couldn't make any progress either, so I took a step back and tried to beat every single boss I had unlocked up to that point (aside from NKG, PV, and Markoth) in ascended mode. After doing that, I came back and beat him without much trouble. Also, patience is key. Don't ever forget that. and sharp shadow
I find that the most aggressive, fun, and painful way to fight PV is using Unbreakable Strength, Mark of Pride, Quicknail, Dashmaster. Dash past through his attacks and dash *to* him while attacking non-stop. If you hear "ding" because your attack is parried, instantly press dash. The level of pressure that you can dish out this way is so high that he gets staggered while jumping.
I just beat PV Ascended. Carefree Melody for the WIN! I always sharp shadow through his attacks, then immediately dash slash back to him. I also cyclone slash during the floor swords attack to get some good damage in. Once his focus attacks start, it's DD time!
What's going on, noobs? I am Rory, the perpetual noob, and welco- Wait. This is Relyea. The analysis of his moveset seemed just like Rory's! Love your vids!
Man, 500th comment and ye, this is incredibly helpful. However with the void tendrils; if you have sharp shadow, you can double jump in the air, shadow dash toward him and get 4-5 free hits on him with basically no chance of getting hit. Also, with the spikes you can jump out of the way then maneuver to pogo on him, if you only use the nail you can get 3-4 free hits, but I like to do one nail hit then a descending dark to deal a ton of damage if I have the soul for it. He’s so much like NKG, such a good and enjoyable fight! :D Also, damn. I’m so used to fighting pure vessel now the hollow knight fight at the end seems too slow and janky, I really wish you could fight the pure vessel somewhere else in the world other than the pantheon, I think that fight would’ve been perfect for the PoP, *with or without a bench there idc, masochist mannerisms POG*
@@RelyeaGaming I’ve actually been looking for a mod like that! Also, is there a mod that allows you to do pop multiple times? I found it annoying you could only do it once :P
I've kinda developed my own style of fighting him (not a lot of jumping, but a ton of dashing and dodging) I keep dying because of his void tendrils, consider the following: 1. For some reason my eyes won't actually see them until I've gotten hurt 2. How to po-go when I've gotten used to almost no jumping?
I KNOW RIGHT, exactly what happens to me, and the reason i don't jump at all is because if i jump to pogo on him when he does the lunge it's fine but if he does the triple slash I'm fucked, because you have to get extremely lucky with the nail timing to pogo on him right without still getting hit, and because I'm using sharp shadow (i find it useful at dodging his extremely long nail) I can't jump when he does the daggers because if i jump and then sharp shadow into him i get hit with the last dagger, that comes up, but i should jump, because i need some way to dodge the void tendrils
yeah! when i fight him, i can always dash through him with sharp shadow and still have time for my shade cloak to recharge for the next dash! my issue with the void tendrils is that i'm so used to not pogoing, i see them and either dash through them, or i panic and get hit regardless by Standing Still-
@@krimble_ i beat him a couple times now and the best tip that i can give is to always jump regardless of what he does, just jump every time he moves or does something, so that way, you're ready for the triple slash and void tendrils, sharp shadow is a no for me, i always got hit with the daggers
another thing is that basically everytime he tp's away or above you should basically get into habit of jumping IMMEDIATELY and either pogo if its a lunge or triple, dash and then pogo for the daggers and void tendril, and if its the sword come out of ground move or whatever then just focus on dodging also equip quick focus makes it so you can get up to 3 heals each stagger and get one more hit off
I highly recommend using quick focus and soul Catcher for healing since most of the time you are only going to heal 1 mask and I was able to heal 2-3 most of the time when he was staggered and mark of pride and unbreakable or fragile strength for your nail also for pure vessels void tendrils before he uses them try to get on top of him and pogo if you have full health and have some soul use descending dark on him and and for his focus attack try healing and not attacking since you will be taking a lot of damage or if you have full health and have soul use shade soul when your far away or descending dark on him when your close also when he shoots nails from him if you have shade cloak dash at him and hit him for some damage
Staying up in the air really helps as most of his attacks focus on the ground. His basic longue attack at that point is only a threat if you are fall enough away from him to not see the attack coming. The hardest attack to deal with at point is his light arrow shot as its easy to get hit by them because they fire fast and you don't get much time to react before he fires them. Worry about dodging the attack instead of going towards him for hits as getting to him is hard. His other two attacks he gains as he lose health are pretty easy to dodge, with the focus attack being a great opportunity to heal up. The biggest mistake one can make is letting your guard down when he is past 50% of his health and you have high amounts of Masks. I got to all 9 of my masks but quickly lost all of them after mistake after mistake. I've managed to beat him after multiple attempts and boy was I proud of myself.
I keep arriving at this fight with 4/5 masks left so i barely stand a chance, thanks for this video i hope it will help me when beating him with hopefully more than 5 masks
I found that ddarking everything is pretty effective and helpful in this fight. whenever I get a pogo above them - so for example in the daggers attack, the void tendrils one, and the one where they make a bunch of columns, I pogo once, and then ddark, because Pure Vessel has a chance of jumping up after their attacks and so if you pogo once, you can i-frame through that, but if you pogo twice, you're going to get caught. Spacing's pretty important in this fight too. In the triple slash attack, if you're not too close, you can pogo, but otherwise you get slashed when you jump. Also, during the attack where they summon daggers, if you're just the right range away and time it right, you can dash above them, pogo once then ddark, but if you're too far, you land before them, and if you're too close and don't time it right, you're going to crash into the daggers.
Just beat him 3d time, and I have some different strategies. The first is for the triple slash, you jump, downpogo, then double jump and downpogo. The next is for the Sword spikes, instead of dodging normally, I go up and pogo on his head, you can get in 1-2 without quickslash, haven't tried with quickslash. The dash is simple, you jump, pogo, then dodge where he's going and either pogo on his head if you're close enough or fall and slash. The next is for the bubbles, I just heal with quick focus once or twice if I'm lucky. Now obviously this won't work for everyone but that's just what I do. Also the void tendrils, double jump then dodge towards him and get some hits in. For the parry you just don't hit him.
Anyone else find dashing through their attacks easier than jumping? I mean, yes, the timing for multiple attacks is tight, but I find almost impossible to jump over their ahead during the 3 leaps and dash attack, it seems the Ghost takes too much to go in the air.
I really liked the Pure Vessel fights... lots of fun. We are all different what one likes another doesnt. I guess same with the boss's What some people have trouble with others do not. But, then what they have trouble with others do not.. That is the beauty of this game. There is no set path no set way. for each of us it was all different :) Another great video Relyea thank you for sharing with us all :)
@@RelyeaGaming I really liked his fight... I guess of all the bosses my least favorite fight would have to be Uumuu. I really really REALLY did not like that boss as found that whole fight maddening and on Ascended and Radiant.... yeah.... wont give my thoughts on that... lets just say was very happy when done them.. and wont ever go back to just practice like i do with all the others lol
Thank you so much for sharing all these tips! Your getting pinned!
Thank you! I'm always happy to help.
I need to start trying bosses on radiant. One of theses days. It would make a fun live stream
@@RelyeaGaming hehe well fun for us maybe.... it is fast and brutal..... three words when playing on radiant..... avoid avoid avoid... only take opportunites when presented ... take a risk your gone it is that simple...

Pure Vessel: Hard Boss
Me: *defeats with relative strain*
Obbles: Hehe, pow pow
Me: AUUUGGGHHH, WHY AM I DYING?!
I know! they get me too!
they have a bit of aimbot just quickly tap into a direction away from them
The bosses of hollow knight are super subjective: I personally have absolutely no trouble with bosses as Grey prince zote or the obbobles, but I took literally hours the first time with broken vessel, and most people I know found it extremely easy. It all depends in your playstyle. Good luck with them!
me: defeats the grimm troupe with ease
Markoth: fwoo fwoo
me: fuck fuck fuck
When i first started playing i beat xero no hit and thought that they weren't even a boss and they were just a tough enemy that i was going to need to fight later, and now oblobbles, markoth, and xero kill me entirely
Me: he doesn't look THAT tough... I could take him.
Me when I finally get to him: *Demonic screeching*
Right?!
I felt that. I am currently watching this video after I died at the fourth pantheon. I feel this.
this guy is wayyyy harder than NKG I feel like... I’ve been practicing at the Hall of Gods for days and I still can’t beat him...
My vocal cords actually hurt. Not even a joke, I screamed so hard.
I kid you not, I just reached him tonight (er, last night now, technically) and was thinking “yeah I’ve seen gameplay, he doesn’t look terrible.”
How wrong I was. His nail hitbox on the lunge was much larger than I expected. His attacks were so fast... I died in a matter of _seconds._
I finally managed to defeat the pure vessel, but I can’t do it consistently
The more you fight him the easier Ymir will get. The fight is pretty straight forward once you learn the moves. Similar to NKG
@@brythewiseguy FACTS
NKG is an absolute joke compared to PV
And ngl, my biggest issue is that I always press dash but my controller/whatever doesn't recognize it lmao
Always gotta press earlier than expected and that fucks me up
Not a single issue against NKG tho
My charms for beating pure vessel are mark of pride, quick slash, unbreakable strength, and long nail. Hope this helps you beat him.
Good stuff!
I use same setup minus long nail I feel my nail is long enough with Mark of pride so I used unbreakable heart instead.
How about sharp shadow?
AlphaInfinity I like to use Stalwart Shell just to allow myself more time to recover
I did a healing build, with bauldar shell, deep focus, quick focus, and shape of unn. This helps me quickly restore health that I lost, and the bauldar shell protects me when I take damage while healing. (Sorry if I spelled anything wrong)
after three days of attempt, I finally beat this guy and went on to finish the 4th pantheon! As always thank you for the great guide Relyea!
Well done! You did all the work. congrats
When fighting him make sure you keep your distance, the worst thing he can do is an attack followed by the 3 nail swings which you don't want. If you avoid him he'll teleport and do the nail swings which is more ideal as you have enough space to jump and pogo on him. Just a small tip
That’s a great call
h I m ? ?
@@earthUSOA7705shh
I actually used the shade cloack more than anything in this fight. There is just enough time to shade dash once every attack (the daggers attack is the only one that was hard to time the shade dash)
Hey found my self dashing and then it wasn’t reset before the second attack
@@RelyeaGaming if you dash at the beginning of the attacks its possible exept the daggers attack which you have to dash a little bit later, the void tendrils you dont need to dash at all and the focus you only dash to get far away from him
Made it to PV the first time in P4 and obviously got destroyed. Started practicing for a couple of hours and I can now consistently beat PV without taking any hit thanks to this guide! One of the main things that drastically improved my performance was to STAY IN THE MIDDLE THE WHOLE TIME. Thanks Relyea!

@@grieferninja3864 i know tho i did it radiant later
You can actually just pogo on the vessels head during the pillar attack. I found this to be much easier and you deal damage at the same time.
That’s a great tip!
I did this when it was convient for me, if you go out of your way to this then your going to have a bad time!
Daniel Staples For me it was the opposite. I guess it depends on your playstyle.
I usually just move a bit to the side of him when he’s above me and abyss shriek. Wanna get the fight over and done with ASAP
Just after I finally beat Pure Vessel... you upload a video on how to beat him...
I just beat him live on stream Tuesday. Took me a min to record, edit and post. Hopefully I can get P5 done quick

@@RelyeaGaming Can you upload a video of tips for all binded pantheons pls? I suck
@@theelectronic00 you do not have to do all the bindings at once you can do them seperately.... but to be honest it then takes a loooonnnngggg time to do them all.. here is a small tip for you it may help you;
Nail Binding: Sets nail damage to 80% of what you have or to 13 . Nail Arts are effected by this figure ( this was fixed in the last update to effect nail arts ).
Shell Binding: Limits you to 4 available masks. BUT NOTE this does not affect Lifeblood masks or masks granted by Fragile Heart or Unbreakable Heart "hint for you here"
Charms Binding: As it says it unequips ALL charms and prevents you from trying to equip any.
The void tendril always get me off guard
But now thanks now ik how to dodge it efficently
They were super hard for me too!
@@RelyeaGaming i think i have dodged them like, once? Twice?
Dash master or sprint master work great

Thank you so much for this! Finally beat the Pure Vessel and not only your tips helped greatly, just rewatching the video before the fight every time proved incredibly effective to get me in the right mind space for it (the fights that precede on the 4th pantheon are incredibly distracting)!

big congrats on the huge win! well done. no need to thank me. that was all you
Quick focus with shape of unn are really useful. With unbreakable strenght, that leaves just enough charm notches for Mark of pride. Alternatively you could use a spell build if that's what you're used to.
Good tips
Wow this really did help me. Thanks a lot, the jumping after the dive with the knifes was an incredible tip.
Glad to help. I hope you got it or will beat it soon
fr idk why I didn't realize it myself. I just assumed the hitbox was consistent from bottom to up despite the design of it
Omg I finally defeated PV thanks a lot Relyea!

You beat P4. Good luck with PV
If anyone is still struggling on this, I recommend using Sharp Shadow, Mark of Pride, Shape of Unn, Steady Body, and of course Strength
This is a fun and fair fight once you get it all dialed in
Relyea yes I certainly agree. Thanks for the help I had a fun time beating it
been watching your vides on and off and i've gotta say thank you man. love all your guides and how its always straight to the point and informative as always man. hoping to be back on this channel once silksong comes out.
Good luck my friend. I hope you were able to beat it!
Relyea I did! After many hours of practicing. In the end I went back to jumping pre emptively, and eventually got the timing down. Once I had beaten him a few times in a row it only took 3 attempts at the PotK to beat that too :)

@Minh Nguyễn yeah It's fun
“It’s very rare that I take damage *here* in this spot”
Me: Gets hit in that spot 5 times in a row.
It’s just luck i suppose
This video somehow got me from from 10% of my attempts being successful to like 70%, and got me confident enough to go through the 4th pantheon, while the only thing that actually changed was that I started taking things more slowly. Gonna need to get a lot of practice in to get through to the final pantheon, cause a lot of the boss fights still look pretty ugly or have just gotten rusty, but at least it doesn't seem as impossible as it used to do.
Happy to help! I hope you get that 5th pantheon

I just got to the 4th Pantheon, and this boss destroyed me. I usually try to start off new and intimidating fights by just trying to dodge first and find openings, and the moment I started to attack, I got demolished. Your Guide will definitely help, so thanks a bunch
Your very much welcome. This fight takes a ton of practice
Thank you Relyea... I was having so much trouble fighting Pure vessels triple slash and thanks to you I have finally started beating him consistently instead of feeling lucky. D:
I know what you mean about feeling lucky. Glad you can get it done!
After getting destroyed, I watched this video and beat the Pure Vessel 5 minutes after. Thank you so much, this was really helpful!
I know.... I’ll do it live here soon
@@RelyeaGaming sweat! Hopefully I'll actually be there for it.
Wait what?!

Recently, about a week ago, I got 112%, this fight was annoying, though something I found that worked was actually staying on the ground for most the fight, only occasionally jumping over Pure Vessel for repositioning, I found it much easier to shadow dash through most his attacks, only jumping over the void tendrils
Whenever I tried to stay on the ground I found the shadow dash didn’t recharge fast enough and the next attack would always get me
I'm so bad, I have only seen the void tendral attack twice...

(Though risky, it's rewarding)
Also shade cloak through the triple slash and you can get a free spell off if you fire at him after phasing through. (I done this on ascended and radiant for the extra damage)
My charms for radiant pure vessel was: unbreakable strength, quick slash, Mark of pride, steady body and sharp shadow (over charmed)
Good call
1:10 I usually just jump towards him when he just slashed (or earlier) on the ground and start pogoing on him. Watch out for the pillar in the middle of him.
I get 2-3 hits off of him.
I recommend it.

Interesting
literally what it feels like to fight your old brother
I just beat PV Ascended. Carefree Melody for the WIN! I always sharp shadow through his attacks, then immediately dash slash back to him. I also cyclone slash during the floor swords attack to get some good damage in. Once his focus attacks start, it's DD time!

No problem
Man, 500th comment and ye, this is incredibly helpful. However with the void tendrils; if you have sharp shadow, you can double jump in the air, shadow dash toward him and get 4-5 free hits on him with basically no chance of getting hit. Also, with the spikes you can jump out of the way then maneuver to pogo on him, if you only use the nail you can get 3-4 free hits, but I like to do one nail hit then a descending dark to deal a ton of damage if I have the soul for it. He’s so much like NKG, such a good and enjoyable fight! :D
Also, damn.
There is a mod to fight pure vessel at the end of pop

Congrats on your win! That is huge!
Relyea thanks!
I've kinda developed my own style of fighting him (not a lot of jumping, but a ton of dashing and dodging) I keep dying because of his void tendrils, consider the following:
1. For some reason my eyes won't actually see them until I've gotten hurt
2. How to po-go when I've gotten used to almost no jumping?
Really great tips! i tried doing more dashing than anything and got crushed.
I KNOW RIGHT, exactly what happens to me, and the reason i don't jump at all is because if i jump to pogo on him when he does the lunge it's fine but if he does the triple slash I'm fucked, because you have to get extremely lucky with the nail timing to pogo on him right without still getting hit, and because I'm using sharp shadow (i find it useful at dodging his extremely long nail) I can't jump when he does the daggers because if i jump and then sharp shadow into him i get hit with the last dagger, that comes up, but i should jump, because i need some way to dodge the void tendrils
yeah! when i fight him, i can always dash through him with sharp shadow and still have time for my shade cloak to recharge for the next dash! my issue with the void tendrils is that i'm so used to not pogoing, i see them and either dash through them, or i panic and get hit regardless by Standing Still-
@@krimble_ i beat him a couple times now and the best tip that i can give is to always jump regardless of what he does, just jump every time he moves or does something, so that way, you're ready for the triple slash and void tendrils, sharp shadow is a no for me, i always got hit with the daggers
another thing is that basically everytime he tp's away or above you should basically get into habit of jumping IMMEDIATELY and either pogo if its a lunge or triple, dash and then pogo for the daggers and void tendril, and if its the sword come out of ground move or whatever then just focus on dodging
also equip quick focus makes it so you can get up to 3 heals each stagger and get one more hit off
I highly recommend using quick focus and soul Catcher for healing since most of the time you are only going to heal 1 mask and I was able to heal 2-3 most of the time when he was staggered and mark of pride and unbreakable or fragile strength for your nail also for pure vessels void tendrils before he uses them try to get on top of him and pogo if you have full health and have some soul use descending dark on him and and for his focus attack try healing and not attacking since you will be taking a lot of damage or if you have full health and have soul use shade soul when your far away or descending dark on him when your close also when he shoots nails from him if you have shade cloak dash at him and hit him for some damage
Oh nice! You finally got them!!
Got em good
I wish there was a online arcade where you could Knight vs knight online with others. That’d be amazing!
Haha that would be fun
I always use Shade Cloak with Sharp Shadow equipped. I rely way too much on the ability then lose. I think I got it, thanks for your amazing video.
It's funny, even in ascended I've found that the shadow dash is always (just barely) ready when it attacs, so I almost don't leave the ground
Those freaking daggers always get me. I always start panicking.
That one is pretty tough. I tend to save my shade cloak for that attack
Thanks bro i defeated him today thanks for the cool tips !!
Anyone else find dashing through their attacks easier than jumping? I mean, yes, the timing for multiple attacks is tight, but I find almost impossible to jump over their ahead during the 3 leaps and dash attack, it seems the Ghost takes too much to go in the air.
Dashing through is easier but I found that sometimes the attacks come faster than your shade cloak has a chance to reload
It took a while but this fight is growing on me.
I haven’t even attempted yet
