Taiyo Matsumoto's work in Ping Pong is full of his trademark stye, with jagged shaky lines and working with beautiful negative space and heavy inks. His style also contains these interesting exaggerated, bulbous moments in various panels throughout the comic. I am fascinated by this approach, in how it still works within the boundaries of Matsumoto's already stylised approach to drawing comics, and yet it still becomes something bigger and more impactful. In this episode, I take a look at this approach, why it works, and how it fits within the rest of his style.
