I remember reading about Dr Seuss aiming for something similar in his lack of border use in his art, so his images continue outwards beyond the page and (combined with a tendency towards dynamic energetic motion) imply continuous action that escapes the space of the book.
It's a fun idea, especially with some like an illustration where you can kind of fade away the imagery and still let it feel naturalistic as we're aware of the artifice. A lot of ways to implement that!

It’s a really good book, one of my favourite Moore comics. A lot of his ABC books (Top 10 too) are really brilliant.
