Great footage. I was born early 70s, however how nostalgic to see what life was like when my dad was a lad. Wonderful to see. Fantastic footage from bygone years.
Wow I didn't expect there to be so many vehicles on the road in the 40's. I don't remember town roads be anywhere near that busy with vehicles in the 60/70's.
@ 0:27 up past the Swan pub onto past the boot (yate's_wetherspoons). Parking across from the old Benn sports shop, now a chippy. What do you think? I've got some videos 👀taken in 2021 of the area of you fancy a look. 👀
Looking at the similarities between the proud hard working people Of old Burnley in this footage compared to the generation of Burnley people in 2024 videos on you tube . Todays people look depressed haggard and lost in there own world. With no way out.. They need rescuing

Times gone by, was it better then? Certainly brings back real memories of a town I knew. Thank you.
The roads look an absolute free for all!
Look how clean the streets are

I see even then cyclists were a pain in the arse.
That was great, really interesting. I’m struggling to work out the decade though. It’s before the Second World War, right?
Thanks. Late 1940s, AFTER WW2.
Ah thanks. Not sure why I thought it was an earlier period. Something about the quality of the film footage perhaps....
It says at the beginning of the film that it's late 1940's, so that's after the Second World War.
Better days without this forced upon us diversity!
