Thanks for that, really enjoyed it, was born in Burnley 1945, remember heasandford & Netherwoods, steaming hot black puddings at the stall outside the market hall on a winters day, cattle market where the bus station was originally off Parker lane, oh what lovely memories, & the locarno, which became Cats Whiskers.

Great video - loved seeing some old, familiar scenes from an age gone by. Brought back some wonderful memories. Just a minor correction though - at 6:37 the scene change from Parliament Street to Branch road is actually Parliament Street looking down Plumbe Street. I was born on Finsleygate so I knew that corner shop (florist/green grocer) quite well. Both of my parents worked at Whittams Mill just down Plumbe Street on the left hand side of the photo. Really appreciate the effort you put into making this presentation, Cheers.

I liked North ST baths, the water was lovely and warm.

How beautiful it use to be, in the 30-th! The people didn’t know yet it will be another big war. I lived in Burnley in the 0-th. Sadly many mills’ chimneys were ruthlessly demolished by that time, I saw those on the post card with a picture on the central Burnley in the 70-th. I wish it was still the same. The remaining chimneys look sound and will last for many more years. It would be a museum-town. I miss Burnley.

2:07 Savoy cinema in the 50-th - what a masterpiece of architecture! It is heartbreaking to see the primitive modern building there now instead.

You don't see many boarded up houses now in Burnley and a lot of the old terraced houses have been refurbished. My impressions from a visit in December 2023.

It is a bloody disgrace demolishing good houses that are in keeping with the character of Burnley. I hope the Council have had a change of heart since you did this video.

17:35 How sad to see those lovely small traditional houses empty, abandoned and dying. Use to be cosy homes for the working people.

2:47 Is this a drone in the sky - in the early 50-s?

19:19 Yes, this is true. And for the tax payers money and on their behalf. And it is not up to the local Councils I am afraid. This dramatic change keeps going on everywhere in the world… A lot of bad things are happening. All sort of. What can we do. Who is going to protect our sweet home towns an all of us? ..

@@lanamay198 Because developers get paid a fortune by councils etc to build new stuff. Friends in high places .
