One damage bonus I'm surprised ISN'T in the game is Sheikah and Yiga weapons not giving you an additional multiplier for sneakstrikes- it would be so fitting! I guess they figured it would make sneakstrikes too OP, considering they already do x7 damage...
Smeakstrikes are good, but 7 times damage is ridiculous. I know why the stealth armor is good, but I just don't have the time to sneak up and sneakstrike every enemy with more than 200 health

Considering that the Radiant set is basically a luchador outfit, it would be so cool seeing Link using wrestling moves as finishers. I can imagine him suplexing Bokoblins, backbreaking Lizalfos or choking Lynels.
Another hidden thing for boomerangs: Most weapons have a delayed time between pressing R and throwing the weapon, but the boomerangs significantly reduce this delay, allowing you to throw them faster
4:12 I think it's also worth mentioning that the spring loaded hammer has the second highest durability of any weapon in the game. Losing to the amiibo only biggoron sword and beating the third best, the great thunderblade. This makes it the most durable weapon you can obtain without spending money on DLC or amiibo, and the most durable one-handed weapon in the game. You may think that weapons like the one hit obliterator, bow of light or the master sword technically have higher durability, but that's not actually the case. The master sword has less durability in the game's memory, but has a special property that makes it take less durability damage per hit, and the one hit obliterator and bow of light simply bypass durability calculation, similar to the master ball from pokemon.
@@nategwright I'm not sure if it depends on the generation but I can tell with you with 100% confidence that in the first generation of games it does in fact just simply bypass any calculations and formulas and just catches the pokemon. If I'm not mistaken, any time you throw a ball at a pokemon the game first runs a check to see if the ball is a master ball or not before running the calculations, but I'm not as certain about that part. There's a common myth that the master ball had a 1/256 chance to fail in the first generation games, but that isn't the case. That glitch does apply to moves with 100 accuracy, but the devs were smart enough to stop it from happening to the master ball. If you're interested I'm sure you can find more specific information online written by people who have the code in front of them and know how to read it.
To be honest, I'm kind of upset that the Hyrule equipment (Guard equipment) is so much better then the other Race's equipment. I think it would be been nice if each faction had the best of one item type. Rito had the best bows (still semi true other than royal bow) Hyrule have the best shields (true because of the Hyrule shield and the Royal shields) Gerudo should've had the best claymore Zora should've had the best spears
Another special characteristic for the ancient bow: It has a special ‘armour piercing ability, where it can ignore the shield of an enemy and go straight through. It even works on Calamity Ganon’s shield in his 2nd phase, but you have to be in bullet time for some reason
There is always one in a rocks blocked cave top east of Goron City. It respawns every Blood Moon, though being not held by enemies, it comes without bonuses.
I've actually long suspected some of these. The hammers I knew pretty much everything about, except the cracked rocks. But I never knew for sure about the bow stats, and the boomerang damage and dragonbone luminous set boost were surprises. Definitely need to bookmark this video
Yeah, I honestly didn't expect the Dragonbone weapons to count for the "bone" weapon bonus. That's actually kinda OP now that I think about it, because those are pretty much the default weapons for late game Bokoblins & Moblins, making this an incredibly accessible source of damage.
I feel like there aren't too many games with hidden tech like these anymore. Just little things that if you know about, it can make your play sessions more fun of efficient. Since the game don't really tell you about them or even give you a hint about them for most of the time, they cannot be something that would be required to beat the game but they're things that if you experiment with enough, discovering them will give you a slight upper hand above those who don't. I just think these are really fun to try out and share with others.
My go-to game for this kind of thing is State of Decay. At first glance it's just a kind of a... dime-a-dozen, janky, zombie survival game... but SoD 1 is the game that made me realize how much I value experimenting and discovering hidden mechanics on my own. Minecraft and Dark Souls both have a TON of tricks too, but those games kind of depend on you to learn about online. State of Decay is cool because you can figure things out on your own... I was still learning new things about it dozens and dozens of hours in. I've still got a lot to learn about SoD 2.
I knew a lot of the information in this, but not as much as I thought I did. And even with a lot of the things I did know, I didn't know about the specifics. So overall, I learned a lot more than I expected.
The fire and ice weapons aren’t like armor, though, because they change your body temperature (like how being next to a campfire makes your temperature dial increase) instead of increasing the limits to how cold/hot you can get
The editing for this video is beyond perfect. Every clip is not only perfectly relevant to what you're talking about, but also finely curated. As a retired editor, I fully appreciate your efforts.
If you want to kill Gannon really easily just fully upgrade the ancient armor, get an ancient bow, and use ancient arrows. It does a lot of damage to him.
I like the attention to detail in this game. It would have been easy to have all weapons do the same base damage to any enemy, but Nintendo was like, ‘So we have a giant rock monster here, so how about most weapons do normal damage, but hammers do increased damage.’
If you want to find the drill shaft, I recommend going to a bokoblin camp north of skull lake. The chest has a drill shaft, and if it’s raining you can pick up the bomb arrows the bokos shoot at you
I get that they want discovery through experimentation, but I do wish they gave more stats or hints about attributes through item descriptions. I tossed aside so many weapons/bows/shields because at a glance, they seem totally inferior.
Not really any more hidden than usual, but a Royal Guard bow with Durbality up + can in some cases more than double the durability up to a pretty reasonable 50. It's by far my favorite and one of the most usable royal guard weapons without using durability transfer.
Congratulations for 100000 subscribers, Croton! Btw, this is also another Stats video that I can rewatch and learn what type of weapon I could use for any situation and challenge my friends and myself by using for instance only Rito or Goron weapons and bows. Keep the great work going!
It's so frickin awesome to see 100k next to your name!! I'm so, so pleased for you! You deserve every success, here's to the many mega milestones on your horizon!! 🥳🥳
This morning i was playing botw and i didnt had any arrows left and had a big boomerang equipped, i wanted to kill a bokoblin on a tower and remembered i could throw it. I find this great that certain weapons can replace arrows for distanced enemies 😀
Croton really deserves more than 100k. I hope to see more quality content from you, but most of all I hope people appreciate it more since it brings all those stuff not many people knowing about in a nice comprehensive package. None of this is new or groundbreaking information, but people don't want to go look at numbers, they wanna see them in action!
That means a lot honestly - thank you!! Sometimes the info I cover isn't as complex as other things I've done, and some of the other info is available via reddit threads or spreadsheets - but putting them together in a digestible video format I feel is the best way to spread it all around!! Thank you much 😊
Here is something i dont see people mention often, you can kill small enemies with a shield by just parrying their attacks, by doing that you can avoid wasting your weapon durability in enemies that only have one hp like bats, skelletons and small chuchus, i believe parrying a huge chuchu will hurt him but im not sure i havent played this game in a while
What? This shellcialist dons the traditional cap of the Fatcats and the Swinemen? Quickly, comrade, explain yourself! I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation. You appropriated it, yes?
This is why I need these videos. If I didn’t find this, I’d still be running around throwing a drill shaft at red bokoblin and playing catch with the boomerangs.
I....i have never thought to throw a boomerang and see if it comes back. How have,,,i never....done this??? Surely these videos are even more enlightening for me than you anticipated 😂
The Falcon Bow is part of why I got the Ravali amiibo. Since that bow is it's most common drop. Really handy for getting all the horse armor from that riding challenge.
@@ImachangedmanIthink The same guys who will give you the side quest to bring them the giant horse. They will give you a challenge to shoot balloons on horseback in a limited time. Also that little cherry blossom tree on Mt. Satori is more than ot seems, it's a small deku tree and you can get a view of of them both. It just adds even more to the beaty of the metaphore
Only joined the Croton community during the AOC streams, but DANG am I still enjoying the videos. Congrats on 100k man Now onto actual video notes: I actually think I find the bow pieces more interesting, but that’s probably because I have an interest in the race design and how there are advantages and disadvantages to their weaponry and blights etc. The fact that the Royal Guard’s bow has such a buff is curious in relates to specialisation in race etc. As you mentioned, it’s not surprising that rito bows are so fearsome, but it is curious that the Royal Guard’s bow is so high level. It raises a lot of questions on WHO made it. The throwing spear is a really cool quirk, bc you don’t often throw items in BOTW so it’s curious that the devs decided to add in the feature. Like, so few players would say they include throwing weapons as often as they use flurry rushes etc. Main question tho: How do you learn this information? Is it in the same way people discovered btbs (just messing about) or is it actually digging through the code??? Both ways sound equally fun. Anyway, that’s all from me sorry for the minor rant
2:08 with the mighty affect from food and potions, the max it gives is 50% more damage, combine this with ancient proficiency, and the extra 30% to 50% to guardians, you can do 2.8x to 2.6x damage to guardians, farther more while attacking on horseback, attacking at full speed always crits for double damage, so if you had all of this while riding horseback with a guardian axe++ you can take out a stalker in only a few hits
Hi! First of all, congrats on the 100K subscribers!! Second, you could make a video of the hidden stats of the armor sets cause I know there are some, and possibly, there are a lot that I don't know, so it'll be interesting!
3:29 That´s why I always loved those katanas. Their base damage may not be the highest but the power of smashing an enemy away after a charge attack is even more satisfying than the spring-loaded hammer.
I've also noticed that the Dragonbone Boko Spear is able to hold a flame between its jaws when set alight, such that it will never burn up whilst being wielded in this way, despite technically being a wooden weapon. I don't know if a similar trait applies to anything else.
I have a few ideas for a video: a video discussing the chances of a weapon having a certain bonus (i.e. the chance of it having long throw over durability up or how likely you are of having a strong atk. up bonus) a video discussing the chance of a yiga or stal enemy appearing at different spots a video discussing the different weights of different items when placed into an updraft (including link itself. Maybe you can test this at the Rito target-practice area?)
*BUT CROTON YOU FORGOT THE TORCH, WOW YOU DONT EVEN DO YOUR RESEARCH YOU SU-* . . . . . . . . . lol jk this was an amazing video. Always had the feeling that the sledgehammer had hidden bonus damage against taluses.
this is why i like the weapon breaking, it's a resource. and it makes you improvise much more and play in different ways. if you could have any weapon, you would just use the same the whole time and combat would become mindless hitting.
No weapon breaking is still stupid. People just grind mutliples of the same weapon. Why use weaker weapons that are unoptimal when you can use the one that's better. Nobody should have to switch to a tree branch just cause there actual sword broke. Or relying on pure bombs sucks too.
Hard disagree with this. It's a lazy way to make loot easy to distribute around the world, thats it. It's a pain in the a and leads to me just spamming bombs the first 3rd of the game so my good weapons don't break. Durability as it's own system is fine, look at fallout for example. But the weapons need to be repairable or need to be put in a "broken" state that can be repaired from. The botw is stupid, lazy, and makes it impossible to tell when a weapon is about to break. It feels slapped on at the last second *especially* when all these weapons have different Stat bonuses to give some variety.
@@Lunar_Leit literally 100 percented the game but okay To add onto this. I love Botw, it's in my top 10 games ever. But the durability system is silly and dumb. In its current state its just annoying, rather than adding a fun element to weapon use. Especially since my two favorite weapons, wind cleaver and thunderspear, break retardedly fast.

Congratulations for 100000 subscribers, Croton! Btw, this is also another Stats video that I can rewatch and learn what type of weapon I could use for any situation and challenge my friends and myself by using for instance only Rito or Goron weapons and bows. Keep the great work going!
Well I'm happy that you found it useful then!! Thank you much! :D
It's so frickin awesome to see 100k next to your name!! I'm so, so pleased for you! You deserve every success, here's to the many mega milestones on your horizon!! 🥳🥳
And the journey still feels like its just beginning! I appreciate that so much though, it means a lot!! Thank you 😊
Congrats on 100k my man! Also that Bokoblin getting stuck in the well killed me!
Recording this video taught me that wells can also double as boko prisons when need be lol
Thank you though!! 😄
ayyyyy congrats on 100k man 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉, great video as usual
I appreciate it!! Thank you 😊
7:21 I see that I'm not the only one who puts a 5X on the forest dweller bow...
awesome video as usual btw.
Thank you much 😊
Dude all your videos are so helpful thanks for existing!
I'm glad you find them helpful! Thank you :)
Here is something i dont see people mention often, you can kill small enemies with a shield by just parrying their attacks, by doing that you can avoid wasting your weapon durability in enemies that only have one hp like bats, skelletons and small chuchus, i believe parrying a huge chuchu will hurt him but im not sure i havent played this game in a while
You can kill any enemy with a lynel shield just by parrying into them.
@@gpw6287 yes but im talking about shields that dont do damage
This video has been certified with a Turtle Badge Of Approval ✨🍉

@@Croton yessir
What? This shellcialist dons the traditional cap of the Fatcats and the Swinemen? Quickly, comrade, explain yourself! I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation. You appropriated it, yes?
it still amazes how I've thought I learned everything about this game, I've had it for two years and I still keep learning holy shit
So great to see you come this far.
Keep up the great work friend (:
Thank you so much! :D
This video was very well done, your voiceover was very easy to follow with through all thise stats. I really enjoyed this video
Wow I’ve always loved how informative and helpful your videos are, and I’m so happy to see you got 100k! Thanks for all the work you do! Keep it up!
Always happy to make them, and will always continue!! Thank you much 😄😄
This is why I need these videos. If I didn’t find this, I’d still be running around throwing a drill shaft at red bokoblin and playing catch with the boomerangs.
You got the right spirit though! Just play catch with the boomerangs *while* hitting the enemies and you're good to go!
Thank you though 😄
I....i have never thought to throw a boomerang and see if it comes back. How have,,,i never....done this??? Surely these videos are even more enlightening for me than you anticipated 😂
That's OK I didn't know the master sword had an alternate attack lol.
Use Giant Boomerang, angle a throw a little downward in the prairie and you have the ultimate BOTW lawnmower
@@sethb3090 oh now that sounds like a fun time lol
The Falcon Bow is part of why I got the Ravali amiibo. Since that bow is it's most common drop. Really handy for getting all the horse armor from that riding challenge.
@@ImachangedmanIthink The same guys who will give you the side quest to bring them the giant horse. They will give you a challenge to shoot balloons on horseback in a limited time. You need to do the challenge twice but you earn the Knight's bridle and saddle. Looks really sweet with the Soldier Armor.
I did not know you could throw Lizalos arms like boomerangs. Jeez still learning stuff after all this time
Also that little cherry blossom tree on Mt. Satori is more than ot seems, it's a small deku tree and you can get a view of of them both. It just adds even more to the beaty of the metaphore
Another great video I’m sure Croton, keep up the great work!
Happy you enjoyed it!! Thanks :D
yay 100k congrats!!! you deserve it so much :)
I appreciate it, thank you!! :)
Great video! I'm a Drillshaft lover now. 😆 Congrats on the 100K! ❤
It tends to have that effect on people 😆 thank you much though!! :)
Your mom loves my drillshaft
Only joined the Croton community during the AOC streams, but DANG am I still enjoying the videos. Congrats on 100k man
Now onto actual video notes:
I actually think I find the bow pieces more interesting, but that’s probably because I have an interest in the race design and how there are advantages and disadvantages to their weaponry and blights etc.
The Bow of light actually does have an arc to it. But the Twilight bow does fire perfectly straight.
To be honest, I misread this as a character arc.
1.) Congratulations on 100,000! Glad to be a part of it.
2.) LOVE the video!
Thank you, thank you so much!! 😄
Enjoyed the origami king music in the background
Great vid as always btw :)
Origami Kings soundtrack is one of my all time favs!! Thank you 😄
2:08 with the mighty affect from food and potions, the max it gives is 50% more damage, combine this with ancient proficiency, and the extra 30% to 50% to guardians, you can do 2.8x to 2.6x damage to guardians, farther more while attacking on horseback, attacking at full speed always crits for double damage, so if you had all of this while riding horseback with a guardian axe++ you can take out a stalker in only a few hits
Congrats on 100k!!!
Thank you!!! :D
Hi!
First of all, congrats on the 100K subscribers!!
Second, you could make a video of the hidden stats of the armor sets cause I know there are some, and possibly, there are a lot that I don't know, so it'll be interesting!
I love your videos. Thanks for all the content, entertainment, and advice 🙏🏽
Hey I'm glad you enjoy them! Thank you 😄
3:29 That´s why I always loved those katanas.
Hmm, ill have to test that out myself! interesting!
Update: Just tested it out and no the spear does not hold fire any longer than usual - just the same 60 sec like other weapons
then we'll test the dragonbone moblin spear!
@@Croton Aw that's a shame, really thought it had a special property. Thanks for testing though!
Fun fact, link has a special animation when you smash an ore deposit with a sledgehammer while standing on it
CONGRATS ON 100K SUBS!!!!! 🎉🎊🎊🎊🎊🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
THANK YOU!!! 🥳🥳🥳
I really enjoyed this. Especially the elemental rod secondary attack and the long sword strikes.
Oooh time for BotW Lessons with Croton
I have a few ideas for a video:
a video discussing the chances of a weapon having a certain bonus (i.e. the chance of it having long throw over durability up or how likely you are of having a strong atk. up bonus)
a video discussing the chance of a yiga or stal enemy appearing at different spots
a video discussing the different weights of different items when placed into an updraft (including link itself. Maybe you can test this at the Rito target-practice area?)
just watching one botw video makes me wanna jump back into the game to test things myself
Congrats on 100k subscribers Croton! Very well deserved.
Thank you much!! 🎉
My main takeaway from this video: Drill Shaft OP
Always has been. ==¿Г
A lot of people seem to not know you can light fires with any fire weapon. I didnt even know you could use flint for the longest time
*BUT CROTON YOU FORGOT THE TORCH, WOW YOU DONT EVEN DO YOUR RESEARCH YOU SU-*

lol jk this was an amazing video. Always had the feeling that the sledgehammer had hidden bonus damage against taluses.
Congratulations for the 100k. Very well deserved with the content you've been putting out all this time
this is why i like the weapon breaking, it's a resource. and it makes you improvise much more and play in different ways. if you could have any weapon, you would just use the same the whole time and combat would become mindless hitting.
@@codenameend3r526 tell me you only played 2 hours of BoTH without telling me
@@Lunar_Leit literally 100 percented the game but okay
To add onto this. I love Botw, it's in my top 10 games ever. But the durability system is silly and dumb. In its current state its just annoying, rather than adding a fun element to weapon use. Especially since my two favorite weapons, wind cleaver and thunderspear, break retardedly fast.
Good job! 100k subs is insane! Keep up the good work!
It sure is!! Thank you lots 😄
@@Croton I became the biggest fan when you did the amiibo only run
